Patch 9 is now available on page 1.

This is a simple patch which replaces the sound of the Stars in my mod to the actual sounds that Stars make.

Still testing the shipsets for the Empire...... the remaining steps are to get the sizing correct so when you are facing Star Destroyer which has arrived in your system you know you are in trouble just with the sizxe of the thing.

Also making sure increased sizes do nott make the mod unplayable.

This afternoon I am currently deciding on the characters for the Rebel Alliance and what role their character is. For example should Luke, Han Solo and Chewbacca be Ambassadors or Catains? Should Han and Chewbacca be two characters played together or on separate ships? Where will Obi-wan Kwnobi be? Is Lando Calrissian on Cloud City in Bespin?

I am leaning towards the lead characters accept Leia being Ship Captains so this gives you the option to play this mod on the Millenium Falcon, an X-wing or other ship with specified character(s). Can you have Luke, Ob-Wan, Han, Chewbacca, R2D2 and C-3PO all on the Millenium Falcon while the mod plays itself automatically around you making all the decisions?

In Star Wars - Rebels "Twilight of the Apprentice" Ahsoka Tano had a duel with Darth Vader and was presumed buried in the rubble of a Sith Temple.
However it was not proven that she had died , and there is no date of her death, and she may have done as Yoda had when he failed to defeat the Emperor when he then fled to Dagobah.

Ahsoka has been added to the mod as research shows she did fight alongside the Rebel Alliance as a Rebel informant who provided missions and intelligence supporting the Rebels in their fight against the Galactic Empire.

The last paragraph will suggest to you what role her character will play in the mod.

The initial characters file for the Rebel Alliance has been added as patch #10 on page one.
This file has the major characters for the Rebel Alliance and adds 43 Rebel Alliance characters into the mod.

One of the characters added is Ahsoka Tano as per the last post and she is an agent for the Rebel Alliance. She is joined by several characters seen in
Rogue One such as Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor as well as Jyn's parents as this mod is assuming the events of Rogue One never happened.

Another major character now added to the mod is Alec Guinness's Obi-Wan Kenobi and this mod will have the charcater play a longer role in the Rebel Alliance as he will not be killed in combat with Darth Vader.

Lyra Erso, the mother of Jyn Erso, is also assumed to be alive in this mod with the events of Rogue One not having happened.

I researched Lyra and found that Imperial Lieutenant Commander Orson Krennic, had given her a job of surveying a cave system on the planet Alpinn.

I am therefore putting her in the mod alongside her husband Galen Erso as a scientist for the Rebel Alliance.

Next on the updates for the mod are to continue work on the Imperial shipsets and adding portrait pictures for the Empire and Rebel Alliance characters.

There are now 61 characters in the Rebel Alliance....most of them have pictures attached to them but I still have to finish off the X-Wing pilot pictures. Tomorrow I will go back to the Empire's characters, add pictures to those characters and add new Imperials from Rogue One.

Almost finished the characters for the Rebel Alliance ...only another 5 to go.....

I think I have a picture and name of every Rebel Alliance pilot for Episodes IV to VI as well as Rogue One..... including pilots who were filmed but then cut from the film.

Have several pictures of the Alliances female pilots too



EDIT: Finished creating the pictures and characters for the Rebel Alliance....now testing before I upload the patch to Page 1

Patch 11 has been released and this adds 61 Rebel Alliance characters and their character pictures to the mod.
Will work now on adding more characters to the Empire with their pictures.

In the picture below there is an error as Crix Madine should not be an Agent.

The Pirate system has been overhauled and which ever race you play you will meet bounty hunters lead by one character who will stop at nothing to collect his bounty.

Depending on which race you play there will specific files you will need to copy into the mod as each race will have custom dialog with Boba Fett.

What I am working on when not working on the Empire ships and characters.......


Did you ever want to play as a Bounty Hunter such as Boba Fett?
Screenshot is from first test play and some tweaking needs to be down with the text on the screen.

Completed work on the characters for the Empire....
In the picture below the mod starts off with the Emperor, Vader and Tarkin being present.

I am looking at changing the role of ambassador to another term as Vader and Tarkin are not really ambassadors.

If you look at the picture in the last post you will see there are no longer any circles at the bottom right of each picture showing the characters role... eg Leader.

For this mod these are no longer required.

The removal of these has been added to Patch 12 now available on Page 1

Characters for the Empire have been added to the mod and can be downloaded in the latest patch on page 1.
This patch also has updates for the Empire and Rebels config files.

New Hyperdrive Systems

Vanilla Distant Worlds universe has 6 different hyperdrive systems available with different speeds for each hyperdrive.
I am currently working on 45 different hyperdrive systems to be included in the mod.

This will allow me to apply the correct hyperdrive speeds for each ship in the mod.

For example, the Death Star has a hyperdrive speed of just 12% of the Millenium Falcon or X-Wing and half the speed of a Star Destroyer.

What I am working on is to make the Death Star travel as slow through space as it did in the movies.

After adding the new hyperdrives to the component list I have scaled down the number of hyperdrives to 37.
These will be further classified by the class of hyperdrive and where specified the hyperdrive speed and its cost in Standard Galactic Credits.

Most of the hyperdrives do not have speed or cost data but have the class of hyperdrive and I will add them to the list of slowest hyperdrives to fastest using a number of factors such as which race made the hyperdrive unit.

Included in the list are drives from Episode I :
T-14 hyperdrives used in older ships such as the J-type 327 Nubian starship.
T-15 and T-17 drives are also a couple of decades old and will be cheaper and slower drives.

The below is an example of the difference in speeds that will be seen in the mod.
I do have to look at the Tie Fighters as , unlike X-wings, they did not have hyperdrive engines
I need to decide if Tie Fighters only appear when a Star Destroyer is in that system.

As seen below the Death Star is 12.5% the speed of the Falcon, agreeing with data from another source, so am happy these figures are correct.

Millennium Falcon ( Class 0.5 Hyperdrive) ........ 9,130,000 C

TIE's were the primary defence weapon in cannon. I would not limit them to Star Destroyers. Just my opinion, of course.

I am going through creating ships for the different races in the mod and so far have 115 ships to be added.

The Corellian CEC Y-8 Mining Vessel dominates mining operations throughout the galaxy and is the ultimate in mining technology.

Testing the Corellian CEC Y-8 in the mod.

With the mod some of the ships look better seen directly from above while others like the ship below are better at an angle.

In Episode IV the following explained the Tie Fighters....

Luke: It followed us!
Ben: No. It's a short range fighter.
Han: There aren't any bases around here. Where did it come from?
Ben: A fighter that size couldn't get this deep into space on its own.

Darth Vaders Tie Fighter however did have hyperdrive.

Battles between the X-Wings and Tie Fighters are a big part of the mod so the Tie Fighter may be an upgraded mod which has hyperdrive.

I may have the initial Tie Fighters without hyperdrive until research allows them to travel to other systems.

Test of Death Star at Maximum size setting.....

Used the Editor to place the Death Star and a Star Destroyer into a system.
Watched as both the Death Star and Star Destroyer both went into hyperspace and headed towards the same planet.
As the Death Star moved through hyperspace you can see the Death Star on the map as a picture.

Very cool. I will need to slow it down once hyperdrive engines are in the mod.
Next thing after fixing the speed is to boost the shields and firepower.

In the picture below the larger Star Destroyer is the one that traveled through hyperspace with the Death Star.

I will also look at whether there is an even higher resolution picture for the Death Star needed at this size.

Vader had a unique design. TIEs were short ranged fighters. This was the difference between the 2 sides. Rebellion had small, nimble fighters that could go anywhere. Empire had the big cruisers. There is a discussion about it in one of the books that came out about 10 years ago, but I don't have time to research it.

That is correct.... which is why I was looking at how the Tie Fighters would move into the systems in my mod if they had no hyperdrives..... they would need to be based on the Death Star or a Star Destroyer.

A lot of time goes into adding ships into the mod...... at this stage I have 321 ships I am looking at which is roughly 6 ships for each race in the mod, some of the ships will just never make it into the mod.

How will the Confederacy of Independent Systems appear in this mod when they were wiped out by the Empire after Episode III?

At the end of the Clone Wars and after the Jedi had been purged, systems aligned with the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Seperatists were forcibly occupied by the Empire.

Worlds still loyal to the Confederacy became targets of the Empire.

Like the Jedi, survivors of the Confederacy went into hiding from where they watched the Empire's progress with dissatisfaction , many joining pirate organisations along with their battle droids.

In the picture below (concept art) I have two Providence-class Dreadnoughts used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

The first one with a red tick was a failure I had worked on for 30 minutes and was replaced with the much better looking Dreadnought with the green tick.

Each of the 321 ships need to have a particular look before they are added to the mod and most will need extensive work in photoshop.

It is likely when ships for a race are completed they will be pushed out as a download in a small patch.

I have added a small update, patch number 14, to page one.

The Last Jedi was released 10 days ago and I finally managed to get some free time to to watch it last night at 10:45pm.... finished a few hours ago at 1:30am.

After seeing the movie I have pushed out a quick patch to add 2 new races to the mod....these 2 races replacing two other races which now no longer make any sense having in the mod after watching The Last Jedi.

Character killed and then dismissed for being extremely grumpy.

One screen which bugs me in Vanilla Distant Worlds Universe is the screen which appears as shown in the image on the left of the picture below.

Sabrine Wren killed!
The screen then states that Sabrine Wren has been dismissed for incompetence and extreme grumpiness.
This never made sense to me.

In this mod I have fixed this with different screens showing depending on which race you play.

On the right of the picture below, playing as the Rebel Alliance, Sabrine Wren was killed, is not grumpy and had been on a secret mission investigating reports of the Empire's secret new weapon.

Will be added to the next patch.
