As I wait, endlessly and possibly pointlessly, for The Bloody First I wondered about downloading Longest Day but bug fixes that don't seem to have been fixed and a still massive price for something that may not fully work on Windows 10 makes me wonder: is the game worth it?

game works fine on windows 10, whether it's worth it is user choices, most seem to think so and like it. i do, but that's not my call, i will let others give a more in depth opinion on the game and it's merits...

Thanks - I read your information before posting, now I just have to justify the price to myself!

Well, had a bit of a fight to get it to run - I would have been totally lost without zakblood and the advice on the pink and green theme, so not easy. Once running - well, image just so tiny, therefore had to switch monitor to 800 x 600, which although easy, is still a pain and means plotting and planning to when to crank a game up.

Graphics are so familiar but the maps are stunning on PitF and GtC that I knew I was in an old game. Quite aggressive (so far) gameplay though.

In answer to myself - and to any others: No it's not worth it, not at the price. I paid (£35) half that and it may be OK. Should Bloody First ever see the light of day I can't see Matrix charging that much more so £35 is pretty steep for what is now, thanks to Microsoft, an old game.

800 x 600 is rather small, game supports 1920x1080 once patched?

if you need any help or need a better guide, i can do it again if you want?

Damn! Your're good! Thanks.

OK, Got it. If I leave my screen at its normal of 1920 x 1080 the game comes up as a small square that would fit twice, with room to spare. If I now change my screen to 800 x 600 all the bottom menu - clock, etc disappear! It didn't the first time I tried it.

You give the impression that it should just fit to my screen... I really can't see how! Any changes to screen size in the game do nothing.

switch monitor to 800 x 600

alter that back as well, then both will be on the same settings and will work fine

It could just be my graphic controller (Intel HD Graphics) but the info bar is cut off at the bottom if everything set to 800 x 600. Will toy around with it later as it is beginning to pee me off! Thanks for your help.

for ease of use if you wish to make some part of all of the display bigger,

http://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-magnifier-windows-10

some use it, others don't, it's an option and choice and works a treat once you're use to it, more of an issue with how the games programmed than anything else, as windows 10 doesn't display Dxr 9 the same as older versions do, but still works

which is 99% of the screen used as shown, without the need for the magnifier used, but now i'll use that as well to enlarge the display

200% is far too much, so will try less next time and see how i like the size and play it how i wish to see the screen setup

125% for me leaves the icons crisp but the display large enough for me to see more, while using my maximum almost (99%) screen size on 1920x1080 with no to little problems and no issues in setting up, most play as it is, without the tool, but for me, i like the close in action, so use it, while others may not, as you mouse moves, so does the display, or set it up for Keyboard and use the mouse and keyboard as normal, or your choice.

once you have it as you like it, just minimize the tool to the desktop, and leave it running, then close it once done

yes it can be an issue,

Could you please attach a DxDiag report file to your message / reply?

Please attach a DxDiag report fie.
How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8/10 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8/10)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. Attach the file to your message
7, if your new and can't / don't have permission etc, then copy paste into a reply

can have a look at your report and double check if you wish, any time

oh and i'm not staff or support, just a member like yourself, who just helps out when or if needed, so i'f i'm on hols or not around, just post a comment and either i'll reply, or a staff member or mod or even the developer will.

good look and have fun, it can be hard at first, but not that hard or i wouldn't be able to do it either
