I've got a good question. Has anyone tried to move a save game file from a vanilla scenario to a very similar mod scenario? And did it work? For example, From a scenario 1 save to a scenario 1 mod....GP

As I understand it, once you've started a save file, it reads back to the original SCENXXX files.

OK, So what if the Japanese player makes a few changes, Like adding a ground unit or Increasing PP's, Will those kind of changes take hold?....GP

Ive tried to make changes to a saved vanilla game -Add pilot names- and the editor showed no files to open in the saved folder.

If the savegame was from a scenario in slots 1 - 25, then no. Those scenarios are restricted. If one anticipates modding, one should always load a restricted scenario (Scen001 - Scen025) into the editor and 'save as' in another slot > 25, before one starts a game. Then the savegame is no longer restricted and mods to the scen can be incorporated.

So, You can modify a saved game IF it's based on a modded scenario. GREAT I was trying to figure out how to start AI modding and make changes in game without starting a new game with every change

Games in progress will update only certain elements. New units added to the scenario files after the game start will not show up in the game. Only certain data fields will be updated when clicking on the "Add database changes" in the preferences menu of the ongoing game. For example, it is possible to change the type of a ship, e.g. from DD to DMS.

It would ask you if you wanted to make the database changes. If both players don't change the database, then what happens is:

Japan player changes database. Runs turn with new database. Sends to Allied player. Allied player doesn't have the changed database, so when Allied player opens turn gets a message "update database? Y/N" If the Allied player says Yes... it will revert to the database the Allied player has on file. If the Allied player says No, it will use the modified scenario data.

However, the editor does not allow a non-dev to save in a protected slot (01 through 25).
