Very interesting, can't wait to see what you do with the Afrika korps. Also looks grim for the allies but they can always regain the balance of power in Russia. Any attempts to get neutral nations into your alliance?

Regain Something in Russia ?
Russia is the weakest wimp in the game .
If anything, with the forces that are mentionned above, Germany will trash Russia all over the place and be in Leningrad and Moscow end 41 .

Hi tog34!

AK hopes to end up in Iraq. Don't know if Allies will have Iran or not - if so, will take that and go for Baku (Southern Russia).

Not really fooling around too much with the smaller nations. I spend points on keeping Greece out, but that's it. Don't know if I'll even get Finland on my side, but that for me is a sideshow I can do without. For me, in my first play, the less parties/complications, the better.

Lastly, we have a mega-session set up for this weekend and should get to Barbarossa. I have, on paper, my three fronts (Northern, Center and Southern) mapped out. Part of the Southern Front's forces may not be at the border in time, but will catch up. If I can keep Greece out, I should have a fairly large and effective Italian Army helping out in the South as well. Will post OKW's plans just prior to the invasion. Don't know how far I'll get, but its gonna hurt something awful.

You did surprisingly well in the South and there is something very unnatural.
Normally the Soviets have an event where they take Bessarabia what makes an advance like what you did impossible .
Apparently your opponent missed the event or didn't take it (what would be Strange) .

In either case that error gives you a huge advantage in the time line and will come to haunt him when you stand at Moscow :)

I know I made a pretty stark choice vis-à-vis Romania - not sure if that had any effect.

EDIT - Mark will be by tomorrow night and I'll ask him. Just curious now.

Good session last night! Will post soon.

Vonik - Mark said he either didn't see the Bessarabia option, or just missed it. He agrees that it would be a big mistake if he simply missed it.

Your choices towards Romania have no effect .
The Bessarabia event comes to the Russian player about at the same time when he invades the Baltic countries .
If he says yes, you can do Nothing against it .
I am not sure if the event always comes but I am sure that I always had it and always said yes .
This blocks the Romanian advance towards Uman for several turns .

Cheers Ian

Hi Ian - I am preparing for a very early second front - at least on the Continent. Fairly certain that he moved his Naval assets from the Med to the Atlantic (I cannot find them). I have been heavily researching U-Boat Tech and, might try a lark and go for domination of the Atlantic with a large U-Boat/Capital Ship Flotilla. Bolstered by the Italians. Highly risky, I know, but I imagine that Tech 3 U-Boats are hard to sink at this stage of the game. If I can put his Navy down and still have a chance to repair mine, so much the better. And yes, I went very heavy on Panzers/Mech preparing for a short war. I worry that if I do not win in Russia on time, these decisions will come back to haunt me.

Waiting, for now, until Mark shows his hand on the West Front. Then counter-attack the fleet supporting same.

Next time, will show screenshot of my Continental defenses. I have no idea if they are too much or too little.
