For some reason, our bombers failed to show up, probably due to weather or stacking limits, so only small number of Zeroes swept Manila and with good results too:

While whole carrier battle drama was going on in CP area, IJN CAs near Singapore had a mini drama of their own. While trying to close Northern Borneo for Allied naval counter-attacks from the western direction, they came too close to Allied air bases with no air cover:

All in all, this was a glorious day for the Empire. We were lucky with weather in carrier battle and if things were different, would probably end up with big losses, maybe as big as American. But it is what it is so we go on. Kudos to my opponent for deciding to continue the game after PH carnage and now this. Most players would give up even with half of losses he sustained in first week of the game, but not him. Says “it’s a challenge to try snatch victory from the jaws of defeat”. You’ve got to respect the man with such attitude, he sounds like a real Empire player :)

Also respect to my little digital soldiers, you did well today!

CENT.PAC. AREA

After yesterday’s crazy victory, all Japan’s dreams are on the verge of coming true. KB rules supreme and Allies don’t pose a threat to Central Pacific bases and shipping but also to HI industry. KB can return to Truk and assist in conquest of SRA. Japan will probably divide KB to fast and slow groups, where slow will be accompanied by mini KB which will be more than enough to tangle all Allies can throw at us now. But first we need to get back to friendly waters. Allies still have more than decent surface fleet which might search for revenge on either main KB or Kaga group more in the East. The goal is to avoid Allies and perhaps throw a punch or two against any possible pursuers. KB will flee NW towards Kwajalein to refuel and replenish while Kaga will sail north towards IJN oilers and than east towards Wake. Situation after The Grand Battle is:

Status: offline 		Hero of the day is CPT Ura Koichi (Naval 59, Aggression 53) while CL Isuzu’s crew day time experience jumped from 68 to 77 and TB Kari’s crew day time experience jumped from 53 to 66 thanks to this day’s success! We’ll make sure that our brave men get extra rations of rum and extra attention from “comfort girls” in Saigon. They deserved it!

Our plan to blockade Palembang and Singapore and also to insure total air dominance is slowly being realized when we caught large batch of Allied fighters and torpedo bombers on the small airfield in Kuala Lumpur. Bombing went well and I doubt that those planes will take any part in defense of Singapore

One of least expected moves from Allies has happened in Wenchow where all defenders withdrawn from the city towards the north. Our 4th Division took this gift after conducting amphibious landing right into the city limits and captured industry virtually intact. This will be great asset to us as we continue driving through China.

Day after sinking of Allied surface fleet, KB is sent north since it was decided that it’s safe to do so now. Objective: Wake island. Our troops in Wake are recovering nicely thanks to huge amounts of supply that got landed before shore batteries sunk our transports. Only thing our infantry still needs is little push in the back by KB bombers and they’ll try to DA Wake again. We’ll wait until then.

Surface battles north of Borneo did not go well for us so far, with our landing forces getting slaughtered left and right, so we called for the big guns - Kota Bharu screening BBs. This was a risky move because there was only light CA and DD screen remaining in north Malaya so Allied dash north might massacre our landing forces. But on the other hand we had massive bomber force in that area and nothing in Borneo so we had to do something to plug that hole. Just in time:

As AVG presence in Changsha was detected, we sent long range Zero sweep from Takao to take them out and they did just that!
