As long as you have fuel for the HI, none other than the refineries won't work.

At this stage the Home Islands should be out of Oil....surplus raw Oil almost all comes from the SRA, and that's been cut-off for awhile. Being out of FUEL or not is the important thing.

I"m still producing minuscule amounts of oil in the HI. But, I do have a stockpile of just over 2 million raw oil.

Almost all of this stockpile is in the HI. Here you can see that Tokyo has nearly 1 million of the stockpile.

My fuel stockpile right now is about 1.1 million. Now, some of that is tied up in ports that will never see ships again but I should have enough to keep the heavy industry going for awhile. By pulling fuel out of chinese ports that have no industry I've been able to restart heavy industry production in Shanghai and Keijo. I'm using transports subs to move fuel from Hinan to Hong Kong. That's a tiny amount but every little bit helps. :)

A quick eyeball estimate is that I have about 230 days of oil left before it all runs dry and the refineries shut off. The tiny amounts produced by the HI may add a few days, but not anything to write home about. Scott's strat bombing may kill some of the stockpile.

If you shut off the refineries, the oil won't burn.

True, but I need to convert the oil to fuel to get the supply from the refinery production and to keep the heavy industry going. I don't need the heavy industry points per se (3.5 million points stockpiled), but I do need the supply that heavy industry produces. You see that my heavy industry produces more than one-half of my supply points. The raw oil does no good sitting there (remember that ships also take fuel to move). I figure that I might as well convert it asap. If Scott bombs all of the refineries then the raw oil won't do me any good.

True but the raw oil won't burn up like the fuel will. Of course, if you can stockpile fuel at a bombed out base . . .

That's very interesting. Does oil burn less than fuel as the result of bombing/bombardment attacks?

Oil stocks cannot be touched by whatever enemy activity except him capturing the base (and hence the oil stock there)

It's December 4th and one bright spot (albeit tiny) is that my night bombing managed to destroy some Corsairs. The disappointment was that I was tempted to defend Fukokua this turn and did not and his bombers flew in before the sweeps so more damage to Japanese industry.

In Burma, My last division was unable to make it out of Northern Thailand, but, some some reason (probably low supply) Scott has not attacked it yet. I've redirected by Tabbys to start ferrying the division out into northern Vietnam and southern China and I continue to pray that Scott does not bomb the airfield. Otherwise, we're running away from Indochina. I'll leave blocking forces, but it's too easy for Scott to cut me off and I basically have no supply there anyway.

As a side not I'm glad that I built up my air transport arm. It has given me unexpected flexiblity.

In China there was another small success in eliminating an allied armored battalion that cut the road between Hong Kong and Canton. In the center Scott did not attack this time where my divisions are battered by daily air attacks. Hoping to move a couple of the most beat up divisions out of there so they can get some respite.

Thanks to you as well. I had read your message as saying oil would burn just not as quickly. Clearly I misread it!

Another day but this time no strat bombing. And, my night raids did not take off. But, at this point in the war, any day I don't get punched in the face is a good day. :)

Some good news on the sub front. The combat report read belt armor penetration.

More good news on the sub front! This one took two torpedos and suffered heavy damage. I don't expect either one to sink since there were no explosions but they should be out of action for a while. It may not help much in the grand scheme of things but it sure doesn't hurt. :)

This turn I'm set up for potentially three attacks on Scott's roaming armor in China. The one on the right may not happen, it depends on whether or not I cross the river in one turn in move mode. Or, Scott may just run away.

BTW, my West Coast raiding force is not close enough to the HI to fly most of its planes home. This is very helpful in case Scott sinks the ships at least he won't get points for the planes.

You sure know how to handle your subs in the anti CV role
How many torp hits on CVs that would make for the whole game, over 20 already?

@ GetAssista, I don't know to tell you the truth. But, they do seem to be my best anti-carrier arm. :)

December 6th is in the record books. My flak over Nagasaki seems to have done an ok job this time with reports of 12 B-24s short down. He did sink the Mushashi which was inevitable and some auxiliary forces. I had slight edge in air to air combat and in China I pushed around two of this armored units.

That sinking feeling (pun intended) when you realize you only have a little while before you meet your maker. Amazingly one of the Es survived the aeriel onslaught long enough to scuttle. I feel sorry for the pixel sailors that have 1,000 miles to any dry land, but they are joyful to have save the Emperor a VP.

Pretty slow day. The most amazing news is that my carrier raiders made it back from the US in one piece! For some reason Scott did not hunt them down. So, it's time for them to go rest for a bit and then go raiding again! :)

Scott bombed the Shanghai airfield with unescorted heavies and lost several to my CAP. I'll take that trade for the Helens that he blew up. Also, my AA boys over Nagasaki got in a few more licks on his bombers there which do not seem to have done as well this turn as in strat raids in the past.

Another day and more strat bombing of Nagasaki. I continue to place my CAP over Fukokua and Hiroshima with some over other major cities in case Scott tries a surprise deep raid. More strat warfare hits and more heavy bombers lost to AA. I'm on the losing end of that equation, but it is letting me build up my fighter arm for what that's worth.

The key battle right now is in China where my divisions have continued to hold off Scott despite day after day of savage air bombardment. I (and this is a mistake) have no AA in the hex so Scott has 200 or so dive bombers hit it every turn. It has held on now in the face of that and daily shock attacks from the allied forces.
