Issue: After starting any any scenario or campaign, the time will eventually quit running. It is like the game is paused. After it happens, I can start/stop and nothing will change. I can still scroll around the screen and doing things, but the game never advances. Chains of War campaign hangs up in the first 1 second. Basic tutorials may go for a couple minutes before going into the "eternal pause".

How I got here:

1. Purchased the Chains of War update, and the korea DLC. I was still running 1.02, so it told me I needed to update to 1.09.

2. After updating to 1.09, I downloaded 1.12 and ran through the setup process.

3. I have noticed that I have now 2 directories under Matrix Games

a. Command Modern Air Naval Operations - which is version 1.12
b. Command Wargame of the Year Edition - which is version 1.09

Check that you don't have an open message box showing in Command. This is the most common case of the game appearing to 'freeze'.

When you installed 1.12, it had a different install directory showing. You really only need the one install; the older 1.09 should go as to not cause future update issues. I would use the uninstall for 1.09 rather than just delete the folder. You may need to reinstall the Korean DLC afterwards as it sound like it installed in the 1.09 folder.

That is exactly what it seems like, but I have looked every where for an open message box and can not find one.

I've had some of this as well...I usually start Chrome, and that breaks the deadlock. Not sure why!

I fixed the issue by re-downloading, un-installing and re-installing. Everything then worked fine.
