Allied player is pushing hard in the borders of Axis Empire but our forces are still stronger when there is a direct fight.
1943 will be a very much excited year!

October 1943

The Eastern Front

The main Soviet counter attack is now focused in Southern Russia where the Axis have a mixed bag of German, Romanian and Hungarian Forces dug in behind the river lines holding defensive positions. Despite multiple attacks the Soviets have not been sucessful re-capturing Kiev. In the North the Germans continue to hold the advantage pressing forward and destroying Soviet defenders with ease.

Western Europe

All quiet.

Morocco

Led by Franco, Spanish forces are fighting admirably to stop the American advance in North Africa. The additional Tanks received from Germany have helped give Franco some much needed offensive power.

Turkey

Turkey's surrender was a very disappointing end to a much anticipated entry into the war. Even with the assistance of military imports from the Allies, Turkey could not stand toe to toe with the Germans. The Soviets have now marched into Turkey from the East and British and American forces enter from the Middle East to maintain order in the countryside.

Greece

I believe Greece tipped beyond 90% Allied leaning with my most recent diplomatic results and will soon join the Allies! Can Greece succeed where Turkey failed?

Sweden

The nation's relationship with Germany continues to dwindle each turn as a result of Allied political intervention and I am projecting the convoys to cease in early 1944.

The Atlantic

The last of the German U-boat Units that were known to be raiding in the Atlantic have recently been sunk and the Allies have declared victory in the Atlantic. The German surface fleet while still capable seems to have been relegated to defensive duties after participating in the Axis' failed Sealion attempt.

Overlord

The Allies have landed in occupied Western Europe, and apparently to my opponent's surprise! Major landings at Brest and Normandy, as well as the capture of Amsterdam and the disruption of the French rail network will surely strike fear into my opponent. Can Germany stabilize the situation? Is this the beginning of the end of Axis rule in Europe? We will soon find out!

Syria/Turkey

German forces launched an attack against Allied forces near the Syrian border. Unless Axis reinforcements arrive it does not look like Germany will repulse the defenders.

Denmark

The situation near Copenhagen has been stabilized after a British Division arrived to reinforce the local Partisans.

Tunisia

No operations despite opposing Armies on both sides of the Libyan/Tunisian border.

Morocco

Fierce fighting continues between American and Spanish forces, the tide of battle has yet to turn for either side.

The Eastern Front

The Soviets have launched the summer offensive into the Ukraine and the Germans are buckling near Dnepropetrovsk. In the North the Germans continue to hold the initiative and the Soviets are taking heavy losses.

Greece

The Greeks are not yet able to launch a major offensive. Continued Yugoslavian neutrality has shortened the front lines.

Sweden

Sweden has finally ended the convoy's to Germany as a result of Allied intervention. Coupled with Allied landings, bombing campaigns and Axis oil shortages, the economic noose is tightening around Germany.

As my King, Philip II of Spain, said in the past:

No envié mis naves a luchar contra los elementos

More or less:

"I did not send my ships to fight the elements"

We didn't make this war to fight againt the weather!

Bad weather in our turns and good one in the enemy's are making hard to CA the enemy's movements. But life is life!

OKW still feels confident in the short future.

Let's see... It's time to fight hard!

I will be travelling until August 7th, and my opponent until August 12th. While I can not exchange turns while on our trip, my opponent may be able to (it depends if we can receive a file from the server or not).

We will continue again either August 7th or August 12th.

In the meantime, any comments/observations/suggestions are welcome.

Some of the changes I am considering for the next version and have already begun some of the work:

1. Vichy French nations can join the Axis if certain unhistorical conditions are met
2. Germany can reinforce Iraq with limited troops and some additional supplies if certain unhistorical conditions are met
3. German "War Economy" and Underground factories to boost German MPP 1943 onward
4. Increase Tank Divisions maximum Tank Research to Level 5, Increase there mobilization by 1, and decrease overall cost by 25 MPP
5. Increase Mountain Divisions Mountain Combat bonus from +1 to +2 and damage evasion from +5% to +10%
6. Increase Anti-Air combat stats of Anti-Air Units
7. Add some foreign volunteer units for Germany
8. Add a 2nd Littorio Class Battleship for Italy to receive in 1940
9. Add a 2nd Italian Submarine at beginning of war
10. Add 1 half strength Artillery Unit to Italian North Africa at beginning of the war
11. Add an additional Axis submarine Groups to build queue
12. Increase Romania oilfield to value of 50 MPP from current 30 MPP to represent the historical importance to the Axis

I am unsure of changes to the Allies at this time except for the bump to Tank Divisions, Mountain Infantry and Anti-Air Units which will apply to all nations. The Allies seem well balanced right now.

Hello crispy131313

Thanks for this mod, its really enjoyable.
I play as Axis and right now in August 1942. (slow progress on east front, and starting to evacuate DAK from north africa)

Here is my feeling and comments

- Maybe you could add 1 mountain division for Germany France and Italy at the beginning of the game (it shouldnt unbalance that much the present forces)
- I found the Regia Marina to be to weak, Italy got very modern navy for the time (maybe naval warfare could be set to 1 at the begining)
- Adding more coastal Gun (Atlantic Wall) on french coast until belgium + holland.(maybe 2 to 4 to add)
- I found really difficult to progress on east front (I think USSR AI is building more units than I can destroy every turn)
- In North Africa I believe there is too much british units to fight against, things get worst due to the "too" strong Malta supply effect
- its a good idea to add foreign volunteers (mainly elite troops recruited on occupied territory, division size?), maybe you could use the shock Army slot for such unit with a dedicated stats.

I think in overall that its a little bit unbalanced in favor of Allied side (especially on east front and North Africa)
But could be my strategy wich was wrong

I like this suggestion and I will include these units. It will especially be interesting to create some attacks through the Alps between Italy and France 1940.

quote:

- I found the Regia Marina to be to weak, Italy got very modern navy for the time (maybe naval warfare could be set to 1 at the begining)

This is another good suggestion that I think I can include as well. The Italian Navy is intended to be strong initially but weaker due to fuel problems as war continues which I think is fairly represented by the increased reinforcement costs.

quote:

- Adding more coastal Gun (Atlantic Wall) on French coast until Belgium + Holland.(maybe 2 to 4 to add)

The problem with this is that including Belgium + Holland will create too many political variants that I don't want to script especially since I don't understand the current mechanism where they disappear temporarily.

quote:

- I found really difficult to progress on east front (I think USSR AI is building more units than I can destroy every turn)

In my most recent game (7.0) I was able to capture Leningrad, Moscow and Stalingrad. The game is not meant to be won easily against the AI or everytime :) I would suggest try again! Tank Divisions in particular will soon be stronger and have more mobility for encirclements.

quote:

- In North Africa I believe there is too much British units to fight against, things get worst due to the "too" strong Malta supply effect

Like above, in my most recent match I lost Tobruk but never pushed back further then Benghazi and marched back to capture Egypt. It is always my intention that Germany can be destroyed on this secondary front. I also think the AI does a good job of reinforcing this region as it is not all because of my changes that units gather to repel the Axis.

quote:

- its a good idea to add foreign volunteers (mainly elite troops recruited on occupied territory, division size?), maybe you could use the shock Army slot for such unit with a dedicated stats.

Unfortunately I am all out of unit types to name, I am not sure if I want to create a "minor" as Battlefield had done prior or it may be simpler to just create experienced units.

quote:

I think in overall that its a little bit unbalanced in favor of Allied side (especially on east front and North Africa)
But could be my strategy which was wrong

I tend to agree but against the AI I think there is always the opportunity to win. I have already listed some changes which favour the Axis, so hopefully it will create better balance.

And Thank you for the feedback!
