Your not confusing Cagney with William Holden by any chance? As in the Bridges at Toko Ri? In the book Brubaker (Holden's role) flew Banshees. In the movie , Panther Jets.

Sort of....NOT! Wrong actor , wrong plane.....would you like to try for the books author or the name of the CV that Brubaker flew off of? Or the actor who played the CPO that flew the "Dragonfly"?

GP...I wouldn't get half of these myself if I didn't have the card caption on the photograph.

So you can feel a little better about yourself, I have another confession to make. I drank Busch beer. From a can. And liked it. Alarming personal disclosure #2: One of my favorite beers is Old Milwaukee. In a can.

My SO's father grew up one of the haves in Mexico and the family fled during an uprising. He had refined tastes in alcohol and brew his own beer. She grew up being allowed small samples on special occasions and inherited his refined tastes.

Fast forward to college. Her first week as a freshman a frat boy asked her out on a date and even though she wasn't that into him, she figured "what the heck?" He took her to a frat party and tried to get her drunk on cheap beer. When he saw she was only politely sipping her beer and not really drinking he asked her why she wasn't drinking her beer, she went on to give a full review of the swill comparing it to much more expensive beers.

That date ended soon after. She did end up hanging out with a bunch of guys who were a lot more sophisticated later. A number of college buddies had been high school class mates with Bill Gates. They went to the same private academy in Seattle. (Bill Gates' grandfather was a founding partner of one of the biggest law firms in Washington State and his father was a partner in the firm.) One of her buddies started a bar in his dorm room as a freshman and since she had a fake ID, it was her job to get the booze. She bought all top shelf stuff and the bar was very popular.

Bill

AKA "The Gutlass" as it was underpowered, AKA "The Ensign Killer" as an inexperienced pilot might make a hard landing...ONCE. The front oleo-strut would pop up and impale the pilot.

Yes. You were the first to identify both types of aircraft present.

In reviewing the history of the SB2C, I came across a small batch test run that the Brits did for their carrier DB airframe testing:

After unsatisfactory tests that pinpointed "appalling handling", none of the British Helldivers were used in action.[20]

Tell us what you *really* think about the aircraft.
