It seems that axis forces in Russia are in better condition than in our previous game and they can achieve more goals before the first winter.
However, incomes are even less than in our first game!!!
But, but... surprisingly... Vichy offered an alliance Treaty... We say YES!!! :)
Hope this helps a lot in this timeline!!
Italy seems to be in big problems... as usual...
It looks that Spain will be critical for the short tems of the war. Axis could close the Mediterranean Sea again... or maybe it could be a "cancer" in the backside of German Empire...
Russia is still quite weak, despite they already have infantry technology level 2!!!
Great game!

Late September 1941

The Eastern Front

The German's are advancing with pinpoint accuracy, capruting key cities of Riga, Kiev and Odessa. There is little the Soviets are able to do to counter the concentrated German offensive. We pray for Winter.

Vichy France

Secret negotiations have concluded, and the Vichy French territories have joined the Axis! We have also received reports that Vichy France has received military equipment from Germany to raise fresh units. The British Navy has attacked the Ports in Syria to prevent Axis reinforcements by Sea.

Spain

German Reinforcements, re-directed from the Eastern Front, are pouring into Franco's Spain. The Spanish have defended the capital of Madrid admirably, in part due to additional military equipment received from Germany after meetings in October 1940. Now that Vichy France have joined the Axis, Germany will no longer have to rely on the narrow supply line South of Bordeaux which will surely tip the scales back in the Axis' favor.

Iraq

A Pro-Axis coup has occurred due to Syria joining the Axis. Nearly the entire Mediterranean and Middle East have suddenly turned against the British.

DECEMBER, 31TH 1941

Western Europe

Hopefully the Germans could stopped the British invasion of Spain on time... Sadly for us... Bad Weather prevent us to bomb the units/ports in Spain, so some units could run away.

Well, well done for British!!! And well done for Spaniards (remember Napoleon?): we are stubborn! :)

Francer is in calm, we are setting up defences with the help of our allies.

No raiding at Atlantic Norht, and just a few at Southern Atlantic.

Africa

The few units that survived around Tobruk are still trying to evade British. Full disaster for Axis here.

Syria and Iraq

In two or three turns all this region will be British.

Scandinavia

Filand joined Axis in our last turn... Will they survive more than in our last game?

Russia
Thanks to the young russian blod wasted in defensive operations, Stalin stopped our advance in Ucrania.
German armies take defensive positions for winter.
1942 will be a hard year for everyone. We need to prepare ourselves.

General Considerations
Fortunately, since two turn our income has raised over 850MPP!!!
We can now invest in R&D, build new units and repair the living ones.
US will join in two or three turns i guess... I hope they need a time to prepare... as they % was very low for a long time. I also hope that British must rest for some months after the losses in Spain.
There are a lot of places to fight: Africa, Atlantic Ocean, Russia, of course... Finland... and, of course, Cryspi will have something to say...
Very exciting!!!

Breaking news:
After a second round of very agressive movements more than 20% of the soviet army has disappeared, even one HQ and a second one is badly damaged.
Smolensk, Dnepropetrovsk and Rostov are under severe threat.
Axis losses are minimun, but... The siberians... Where are?
Will they CA? Will they hold Moscow ir Stalingrad?
Its May 30th and no one could sleep in OKW!!

Spain & Portugal

The British Invasion of Axis sympathetic Spain, which which was simultaneous with the beginning of the Axis' operation Barbarossa, has ended in failure. While the British did manage to route 2 Spanish Armies during the battle of Madrid, the Allies lost much more after German Panzers and other reinforcements arrived in Spain. British and Canadian Forces successfully evacuated 2 Tank Corps, 1 Infantry Corps 1 Special Forces unit and 1 HQ through their retreat so the Allies did avoid a total military disaster. The Gibraltar garrison also managed escape into the Atlantic to garrison strategic Portuguese territory before the former Allied nation surrendered to Spanish forces at Lisbon.

The Atlantic

The British suffered their first significant naval losses of the war, after a British Light Cruiser, escorting the Gibraltar garrison into the Atlantic was sunk by U-boats.

Axis convoy raiding activity thus far has been limited to the Canary Island region German u-goats and surface raiders are covered by German and Italian Maritime Bombers.

Syria/Iraq/Iran

The British, aided by the Desert Air Force and the arrival of the 8th Army at Jerusalem destroyed the Syrian Infantry Corps at Damascus leading to the occupation of the Vichy French state. Iraq also has surrendered to the British after limited fighting around Baghdad. Coupled with the joint Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran, order has been completely restored in the Middle Eastern Theatre.

Libya

The British have fully swept aside the Axis in former Italian North Africa after surrounding and laying siege to an Italian Infantry Army at Tripoli. The Army subsequently escaped by sea before being destroyed and the British marched into the city. It is worth noting that the Africa Korps did not utilize Tanks in any battle. The British suspect remnants of the Africa Corps to be stationed in Tunisia where Malta is not effecting Axis supply.

Vichy French

Though Syria has quickly surrendered, the remaining Vichy States; Vichy France, Algeria and Tunisia are better positioned to defend themselves against an Allied invasion. As a result of the German Alliance with Vichy France, Axis naval power is certainly strengthened, but would have been even more so if the Allies had not attacked the Vichy French Fleet soon after the French originally capitulated in 1940.

The Eastern Front

The Soviets have finally achieved Infantry Weapons 3, which will assist greatly in defending against the more experienced and well equipped German Army.

The Siberians have arrived and have been dispatched to hold key defensive positions, but so far with little success. In fact, the Soviets have not yet been able to muster any significant counter offensive along the entire Eastern Front, but the arrival of the Siberians continue to strengthen our overall forces. A German Panzer Division was the 1st major German casualty this spring in the Ukraine.

Engineers have dug key defensive positions along the Volga (Stalingrad) Moscow, Leningrad and Kursk. Northward the Finnish have been beaten back into their home territory, but neither side is strong enough to launch any quality offensive.

1942 will be a long and hard summer for the Soviets but we must hold the Germans back!

Overall Strategic Situation

The Americans were slightly delayed in joining the war in Europe, in part due to a pop up, warning the US to return to their home waters multiple times and reducing mobilization. The pop up curiously occurred while all ships were still in port so I removed this script in version 9.0 as a result. With US entry into the war, more supplies are available to USSR and overall Naval superiority tips back in favour of the Allies, but only barely.

The Axis now control the entire Western coastline and must protect key positions all the way from Narvik (Norway) to Casablanca (Algiers). It will be no easy task, and my opponent will hopefully not succeed.

Quick Review

German army continues their advance. However, resistence is more intense and we expect to loose our first units in the following turns as our frontline is weak in some small points

Main facts:

SMOLENKS and DNEPROPETROVSK has been conquered. The first one quite easily, the second one after a very heavy battle with the support of Luftwaffe (almost 40% of the Luftwaffe).
Futhermore, Stalino and Vyazma (i think, this is the name) has been conquered. The road between Mariupol and Rostov has been cut, so there is a BIG POCKET at south of Ukraine (i think around 10 soviet units, 1/7 of the Red Army). It will take a time to suppress this pocket.
Stalino was defended by a Siberian Tank Army but withouth HQ support, so after some bombing and an assault by one of our experimented Tank Corps it was killed. However it took some losses... and i dont' know if it will survive for long... it's quite far from our main forces.

Vyazma also had a strong defence (maybe a Siberian Tank Corp?) but it was suppresed quite easily as or front line is shorter than in south.

There were other minor advances in the road to Leningrad over Pskov.

I can "see" that soviet engineers has prepared big defences along the River Don, defending Stalingrad and Caucasus. Some other defence lines are around Kharkov and Moscow (stronger here). Maybe the fortifications around Leningrad are weaker.

Soviets has less than 80 units, we have the same number (more or less) in the East front. Soviet losses in this three turns must be around 30 units... It's only June, 21th.

Well... the front line is quite strange, this map (below) is quite similar to our advance, with some diferences, of course.

It is supposed that our adavance will be "slower" in the following turns as we have be cautious and the frontline, as i said, is quite wide in some places.

Very interesting game!!! Thank you Crispy!!!

Quick Report

I will show the German advances over the last picture from Crispy (Thank you!)

Tunnis
Large assault from Western allies to Tunnis by Sea and from Lybia.

Newbies yankees got heavy casualties by German Armoured Army Group located around Tunnis Capital after their landing, but the frontline in Lybian's border will be lost in the next turn.

British will be hard to stop!

Other considerations
Germany reach 1.000MPP per turn for first time in the war! However allies receives around 1.500MPP per turn.

Raiding in South Atlantic is going on: around 50MPP per turn are lost for British.

Convoys to Russia are free. It get's more than 150MPP per turn. Russia get's around 900MPP per turn. However it's losses per turn are around 1.300 and, more of the units were below 5 of supply.

Well... Summer will end soon. Let's see if we get any big success before in the East.

Crispy report are excellent.
I just make a brief resume of the war in the East.

Germany get's 1020MPP per turn.

Raiding is lower than in previos turns.

Africa will be tought to defend...

1943 will be awesome!!!

As autums comes it's time for setting up the next year. It seems that OKW won't launch massive operations this winter...

BTW, Russia's income is close to 900MPP/turn, their loses were (during summer) from 1.200 to 1.400 MPP per turn.
At the beginning of the summer Russia had over 90 units and now it's over 70-73.
Wester convoys to Russia were free of raiding from axis vessels...

QUICK REWIEW

Late November

RUSSIA

Leningrad and Novogrod? (the city at the right of Leningrad) is UNDER AXIS control.

Rostov, Tikhorestk and Elista (i think these are their names) are also under axis control.

From one point to another the frontline has been quite for some months.

OKW consider that their maing goals for 1942 summer campaing has been achieved!

Link to Finland and Norway will be ready at the end of this Winter.

Caucasus is "open" to our forces. Also Stalingrad... Which will be our goal in 1943...? Will our armoured forces turn "left" and will asssault Stalingrad from the south? Or will these forces attack straight to the Caucasus Area... Let's see.

Will the soviet forces stronge enought to CA in the large enormous center of Russia in order to force the germans to retreat?

Or... maybe OKW will stop their advance in the wings and will attack Moscow, which is "close" to the Center Army in Vyazma?

Soviet forces are again over 80 units. Germany reach 200 UNITS this turn. Germany's income is around 1.150 MPP, Russian's ones is about 900MPP.

Despite our losses were very rare. We have to spend a lot of MPP each turn (in our late turns) to repare and improve our units. Sincerely, most of our units were quite damage.

Futhermore we have to prepare the west front...

In Tunnis, Western allies are (it seems) stopped but they are bombing Sicily largely... Let's see...

About 50 - 60 MPP are lost each turn by raiding in South Atlantic for the British.

US's income is about 600 and British one is about 250.

Now, we have some turns... I guess that soviet forces will reach 100 units during these turns. Germany will receive some reinforcements too. The good news for German is that, after the conquering of Leningrad, we have the chance to move some of this forces to other places.

Let's go rock! :)

Late March, 1943

Spring is coming, winter was quite peaceful (except in Sycily and Lybia).

As we planned, Russian forces grow up to 105 units. I guess that it will grow a little more before the new Campaing was launched.

Russian's income are around 900MPP (150 from convoys). German's income is around 1.150 but we are suffering losses due of lack of petrol...

German has 220 units from Filand to Morocco, from Norway to the Caucasus... from Portugal to Vyazma.

Will they be enought to hold the future CA of allies and to prepare a new Summer campaing?

BTW, German morale dropped to 96% because "the war is lasting longer than expected"!!!

Well, we must go on.

In our last turns, Luftwaffe were fightingh to recover the supremacy in the south of Italy. British are at the gates of Algeria... but our brave defenders killed one unit.

A lonely US airplane spotted Belgium in the last turn... In our last game Allies landed in the beginings of 1943 in France... Are we in the same case?

Let's see what happends...

Brief report in other areas:

FINLAND
It seems that neither Finland or Russia are strong enough to move forward. Stalemate.

FRANCE & SPAIN
No activity at all. Spain is alert just in case Allied forces conquer the Spanish Morocco.

ITALY
No activity. It seems that the large allied fleet spotted some turns ago has retreat into the East of the Mediterranean Sea.

TURKEY
Allied diplomatic chits moves Turkey up to 51% pro-allied.

That's all.

Early September 1943

Is a fact that this year has not been a "big deal" in short term but OKW hopes that we planted the basis of future (and faster) advances.

As the summer campaing is close to his end, this is the main facts:

Malta has been conquered
After some weeks of bombing an italian small unit could land in Malta. This is the beginning of our "back to Africa" plan (in the future).
Futhermore allied suffered some losses in their fleet (as i remember, a CV, 2 - 3 BB, and some other minors ships). Italians also loose 3 o 4 units (2 BB i think).
I think it's positive for Axis if we think in long term.

Morocco / Algeria
After Germany send some armoured forces and with the cooperation of Malta's Operation. Allied forces were unabled to advance into North Morocco.
On the other hand, axis forces are CA with determination and we expect to advance over the enemy very soon.

France / Norway
Absolute calm.

Turkey / Arabia
Bit a bit they are getting close to Allies.

Finland
Just skirmishes here and there...

Russia

1. Smolenks
Germans are quite safe in this line and could be able to CA to the small advances made by light soviet forces at south and north of Smolenks.

2. Karkhov
Soviet losses a lot of strong units there.

3. Rostov Area
Soviet has been pressing in this area for the whole summer. German lost some units but the line is strong enough to hold the pressure and, futhermore, German could CA all along the line.

4. Caucasus
Soviet sent a lot of units there. So, German advance is very slow and took some looses. Grozny is still under Soviet control.

General overview

As Russia is getting less than 700 MPP per turn (no convoys during 1943) and his losses are over 1.000 per turn, so OKW thinks that Russia is weak turn after turn.

It's true that Russia has resist and even CA during 1943 but their economy can't support this long attrition, so we expect that the advance in 1944 will be faster. The question for us is... Where to advance?

Soviet forces are now below 80 units, Germany has aroun 225 units and Axis forces are around 55% of the total forces.

OKW is thinking about the viability of his first winter offensive in the war... Let's see..

In the East, the question is where the Allied will hit again in 1944...

Well, we are quite confident in the End Victory (quite sure that it wont' be in 1945, but maybe later...)

Let's see!!
