November 1943

The Eastern Front

As my opponent knows, the Soviets are struggling to counter attack the Axis and there fate will depend on how successful the Western Allies will be in other theaters. We have lost a staggering amount of forces and our income is already low as we fight for every inch of the Caucasus region to protect our oil fields.

Turkey

Turkey is now 80+% Allies and will soon join the conflict in Europe. The Soviet will be very grateful for another Ally in the East.

The Naval War

As you can see by the chart below, the Axis have won more tactical naval victories, but the Allies know we continue to hold the superior fleet should a large scale battle develop.

Western Europe

Allied bombers are targeting German economic centers in the Ruhr Industrial area and across Axis occupied Western Europe.

The Mediterranean

The German/Spanish expeditionary force in Morocco has been formidable and thus far the Allies have not been able to dislodge the last Axis stronghold in Africa.

Under what condition Vichy offers an alliance in this mod?

That's a lot of destroyers sunk with little sub to show for it. I don't think the allies actually want to engage the Axis fleet so depleted.

Last game between the two of you Turkey kinda collapsed after joining so it will be nice to see if crispy131313 can prevent a repeat on that front...

Sincerely, i don't know what are the conditions for the Vichy offers.

It was a fully surprise to me when i saw the message!! It was good for me because it gave me a bunch of units (so, more german units went to Russia) and Afrika Korps could retreat thought Algeria. And some delicious MPP, of course. It cost (i think) around 200MPP to sign the deal.

Even with those losses Allies have more ships than Germany. But i'm agree that they won't engage Kriegsmarine wildly, but sea is still a very dangerous place for my subs and ships. Furthermore, the Italian navy is now strong... but their income is soooo weak that i must be very cautious with their ships.

Regarding the "Turkey issue"... In my last game i decided to push hard over it to prevent a quick run thought Balcans over Germany and for three main reasons:

1) To try to distract some allied forces in a very dificult place like Turkey (I thought that Russia was not so strong, but i was wrong).
2) To get more experience for my Luftwaffe.
3) To get more MPP.

An important fact, regarding Turkey, is that, in our first game, i was already on defensive... I didnt' have too much choices. Everything was very dangerous.

In the current game. I am still leading the game. Of course, even i have more than 50% of the units and i collect more than 1.300 MPP... I can't launch such enormous offensives as at the beggining of Barbarrosa. But i can press, and i do hard, in some regions.

I have to think what to do with Turkey. There are two main strategies:

1) The easy one is to dig in the Europe part or Turkey. Sincerely, i don't believe that allies could assault Balcans thought that way.
2) Or i can try to push hard as in the previous game. Allies are weaker than before... And it is suposse to that they can't support Turkish the same way as they did in our first game.

What to do? Let's see.

On the other hand i conquered Grozny two turns ago. I though i could have any "event" regarding Turkey because of this... But nothing happended. A pity! :)

Overall situation in Russia is "curious" if i push hard over the soviet front i can advance... Red losses 7 - 10 units a turn. But they can rebuild it in one turn (despite their income is less than 700MPP9. We are kicking our ass all along the frontline. Maybe my kick is a bit strong but Crispi131313 is a tenacious player.

Of couse, i had to move most of the Luftwaffe to Sicily to prevent the on going US invasion of Italy/Spain and to conquer Malta, that didn't help in Russia. But i tought that my advance in 1943 will be a bit more deep.

So... 1944 will be amazing :)

It's been a while since we saw a unit count. Can you guys show the graph? How much land unit for the UK-US? It's almost 1944, surely they have D-Day material stashed somewhere... *cough* Pontic Mountain *cough*

Vichy France has a chance of joining the Axis each turn if Spain has joined the Axis and USA is still a neutral country. Algeria, Tunisia & Syria are all variable entries which may or may not follow Vichy France into the Axis camp.

Yes but Turkey will be joining 1 year later then in the previous game. Let's see how many front Germany will hold at once...

I should note I was away all week but will be home today and we can get the AAR started up again

Not without a lot of shenanigans like making a Dummy France which takes control over France etc. Too much work for one variable i'm afraid.

There's an interesting payoff though if you can pull it off. Makes the Vichy Alliance a bit more like one. Germany cedes back Metropolitan France (except Alsace and St-Nazaire). Germany loses France MPP but gets access to France army pool (more buildable HQs!) and Navy.

It ties down a significant part of Germany income to an inferior army that essentially needs to be rebuilt. But the additional manpower long term and the immediate addition of several naval asset balance it out. You could even remove the 200 mpp cost, Pierre Laval wasn't that demanding. :P

March 1944

The Eastern Front

The Axis continue to press in the Caucasus region and towards Stalingrad, while in central USSR, German forces have held defensive positions near Kharkov and Smolensk. While the Red Army have not yet been able to turn the tide on the Eastern Front, the Reds have established and held defensive lines. 1944 will be a decisive year, the Soviets must go on the offensive against the Axis if we hope to defeat our enemy.

Western Europe

The Allies have enforced blackouts in Western Europe. Naval activity has increased in the English Channel, while Bombing activity has been minimal due to poor weather. Occupied Europe is vast, stretching from Denmark to Gibraltar. Germany and her Western Allies, Spain and Vichy France wait for the Allies to make a move, but when and where will the Allies strike?

North Africa

Rommel has won a decisive victory over British forces as German Panzers break out of Spanish territory in Morocco towards the Algiers.

Turkey

Turkey remains comfortably at 84% Allied Leaning. A new front will open in 1944, only the exact timing is in question.

Sweden

Allied intervention has led to Sweden ending the convoy route into Germany.

It remains a very heavy task to do so, it would send ripples effects through too many scripts. Some ideas are just too hard to incorporate, and trust me this is one. I do appreciate the suggestion though!

OKW is really determined to give a big step forward in the war during this 1944.
At least one of the two big Soviet cities must fall under our control.
To do so, big operations are going on (see the map below) both in front of Moscow and Stalingrad. Also, the pressure over the caucasus is going high where our forces advance quite easily with a big support from Luftwafe.
5% of the soviet units are killed in our firts combinated assault all along the East Front.
Soviet try to frighten us around the Kharkov area but we trust to be able to CA very soon.
On the other side of the map, a lof of US/Bristish activity "seems" to indicate an amphibious assault across the English Channel. But we know that the enemy is very astute. We'll take our arms and guns and we will be ready to CA everywhere across the European Map.
German amy has 250 units and our income is 1.400 MPP per turn. However Allies income is (we estimate) around 1.800 - 1.900 per turn.
This game is sooo coool! :)

Soviet Army Under Risk of Collapse!!
The Red Crab Operation has been launched with big success. As you can see in the bottom picture, a large and very strong axis column is really close to Stalingrad (just two hexes).
This aggressive movement in cooperation with a clean advance on the norht of the city has a result of than 1/6 of the soviet army is close to be encircled, and the more important thing is that the road to Stalingrad is clean...
Stalin must make a painfull decision: will he attack my wings and it will let our frontline to advance straight ahead over Stalingrad? Will he move strategic reserves from other front to suture this bloody gap? (Which allow us to advance in other places).
Soviet army lost 10% of their units in this turn (x2 than the previous one) and our forces has definitely broke the causasus front, our panzer ahead in our column are thinking only in Baku.
All along the red frontline we have made small but suscessfull attacks killing the more exposed units of the enemy.
In other fronts a kind of vanguard of US/British forces has land in Normandy but they are just a bunch of people right now. Maybe a more heavy attack will follow in the followings turns. Any city were captured yet.
In Afrika our small amoured army advances slowly.
Each turn, more and more german sub go into the Atlantic ocean raiding the enemy lines...
Can the allies front facting this decissive time?

The Western Front

Operation Overlord has commenced and the Western Allies have fought their way onto the beaches of occupied France. Success is paramount as we must provide relief for the Soviets who are fighting for each and every inch of soil as the Axis march towards Moscow and Stalingrad.

Turkey

Turkey has joined the Allies! Strengthened by years of military imports from Britain and USA, Turkish forces march towards Bulgaria and the Caucasus.

Russia
The East Front is bleeding out everywhere!

We continue our slow advance over Vyazma (right ahead of Moscow). We achieve to attack a Soviet HQ located right behing the red front line (it dropped up to 2 points of Strenght). Around 3 or 4 soviet units are under risk of being isolated.

Regarding the situation around Kkarkov and Stalingrad see the map below.

Caucasus
After a new round of heavy bombing we are susscces to break the last line of defence in front of Baku (an Army Tank). Only a weak garrison hold the city. At last, the caucasian petrol is close to our hands!!!

Russian loses rise to 30% (since the beggining of the year) after 3 turns of offesive (right now they have 70 units). Many of their best units has dissapeared.

In our last turn it is supposed that we produce a damage of 2.000 MPP (remember that Soviet income is close to 700).

If we think that around 10 units are being isolated around Stalingrad (only one road is open to the Eat of the city right now)... It seems that the situation is close to be critial with less than 60 units to hold all the frontline!

Turkey
Turkish forces enter in Bulgaria. We expect to hold them very soon.

Algeria
No activity this turn. It's time to refitting and reinforcing.

France
Finally, a big assault was launched over France. Some cities have been conquered by US/British forces. Right now we only launch small attacks over the weakest forces of the enemy. Meanwhile, we are setting up our second line.

---

Of course the enemy has made us a lot of damage. But we have a large army and our industry seems to be very capable to repare our forces.

Sadly, Crispy will be out for some days. We'll have to wait for new updates!

I was curious where Italy was standing after losing its colonies for so long. At this juncture, I wonder if losing its navy would be enough to send it over the edge.

So everyone (but Italy) is it fighting shape to conduct offensive operation...

Early July 1944

Occupied France

Occupied France is in Flames as the Allied bombing campaign continues to disrupt the German supply lines all along the the French coast. Vichy French and German forces have been destroyed or isolated in North Western France and the Western Allies are now free to march towards Paris and along the French coastlines.

The Eastern Front

The Red Army has won their 1st major victory of the war at the 2nd Battle of Kharkov, the German Army will surely have to retreat or risk collapsing their Northern flank as they continue offensive operations towards Stalingrad. Near Stalingrad, the Soviets continue to counter attack north-west of the city against Romanian and Hungarian forces. Southward, the German Army continues their slow and bloody march towards the city gates against heavy Soviet resistance and fortifications.

Attacking from Smolensk, the Army Group Center has broken though Soviet defensive positions and the Red Army has been forced to establish new defensive lines East of Moscow. In the Caucasus region Mountain Infantry continue to harass the German attacking force, while Turkish troops have crossed the Soviet border to meet advancing German forces.

The Balkans

American and Turkish forces have crossed the Bulgarian border to find German forces have secured defensive positions and hold all supply centers.

North Africa

British forces continue to hold the city of Algiers against German forces which have advanced from Spanish Morocco.

The Atlantic

German U-boats continue to raid British convoys.
