I think this means they are planning an attack ...
other then the German mobile units in the Pocket at Voronezh, we have no Idea where there other 3 panzer groups are
you could be facing 2 panzer groups at worst.
I admit, I'm a bit paranoid just because of Gorky, if that falls its really game over. but I'm still confident you can protect it well before Blizzard.

Interesting contrast - while the Axis team are desperately trying to get motorised and elite units into winter quarters before they are affected by the blizzard and maxing out rail cap getting them west, the Soviet side is worried several Panzer groups are about to surge to Gorky.

if all of your panzers are now in cities like Kaunas and Brest-Litovsk well to the west, not too surprising our recon cannot find it. Can really spook your opponents seeing three panzer armies disappear!

Good work reducing pocket in south. When reducing the pocket later worth concentrating on the north east corner to improve supply

The skies over Voronezh seem to be swarming with Transports from both sides! While Soviet transports kept the Voronezh pocket alive, Axis transports scrambled to keep some of our troops in beachead status rather than lose morale as isolated. Luckily unopposed for Axis, unluckily for the Soviets.

quote:

Soviet Supreme Commander
Das Reich Motorised Div. is low on supplies. All divisions around them has received supplies by air. Maybe a good opportunity to try to break the encirclement or at least open a door for our troops

quote:

Voronezh pocket is certainly dead, it will suffer 4 turns of Isolation, (not even counting the isolation it suffer in the past) simply put, that much time in isolation degrades the unit massively. Once snow is on, a single hasty will kill almost all units there. With several enemy hexes between my forces and the pocket, too much space to cover, the only reserves I have left are still raw recruits, and I need my best units to secure Rostov during the snow. Just not possible boss, with mobile units getting fuel by air and just setting still, they will have MPs, If I try to pull a rescue operation, I would just give then more units to devour.

Please don't use the Li-2 transport - it seams, we actually lost the factory of Li-2!!! That was our main, only and most reliable transport aircraft!! Man, not even one point saved. It would be wise to keep then for serious emergencies. The Voronezh pocket will die once snow comes ... by all means, use LB until the fuselage is ripped from overuse!!

We are getting more targetted now!

Rear area recon seems to be tracking our rail repair - and airbases!
Intercepted up to Leningrad horizontal, unintercepted north of there but they still escorted them?
I guess they have fighters to waste?

Air losses on soviet turn 18

quote:

Soviet South Commander
we lost WAY too much recon planes, our SB-2 rec air regiments are severely depleted, and the P2-recon production is far to low to replaced the former in the near future. The recon pools need to be manually taken care of, the R-5, with a range of 16 radius(hexes), is a decent recon plane, the R-10 is very good! with 29 radius.
we have 141 R-5 and 77 R-10 in the pool.

So stop sending recon half way round the world to find nothing in Kiev then!

T018-021 Soviet Airbase Bombing

quote:

Axis Supreme Commander
They are even bombing recon bases so I would even recommend increasing detection rates of our recon bases to get them to bomb them even more! And even set up fighter traps for them

quote:

Axis Supreme Commander
messaged them to check they knew they were not airbase bombing our airbases
they are bombing our airfields like they are tanks not like they have aircraft on them
using F6 not F7

quote:

Axis South Commander
Maybe he thought it would hurt supply?

Later in the mud period they did indeed start airbase bombing airbases.

quote:

Axis Supreme Commander
they are doing airfield bombings now - but not raising their detection levels first so far at all their airfield bombings it looks like we lost just one aircraft
they lost a few

we did get beaten up very badly until now, by expert air enemies
won't lie, WitE air system demands quite the micromanagement to bear good fruits and results
much care to give to the air force to be truly effective and remain effective
but if we can get our air regiments to 70 experience and morale, I we can start to fight the Luftwaffe head on
and we will have the Industry next year to sustain all loses

T019 Soviet Units

quote:

Soviet South Commander
Speaking of ski battalions, we may start training then November so next turn! I ask that you let me take care of all of it!
I'm planing to train 80 battalions, we can rely on then to fill out the Cav corps and fill up any army that lacks SU.
this way, we can avoid building expensive arty SU in the near future.

To train 80 ski battalions, we need 80 AP by turn 20, So I ask supreme leader and all the team to not wast any AP until those are created.

It's important to train then in mass, we will only have 3 turns to train then before December, I will train then all in the Urals Military district HQ, once they reach 25 experience I will hand pick those to send to Stavka so they can be distributed to the Cav and armies. Cav takes priority...

I made Stavka and Urals Locked to make sure they store the Support units, PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THIS!!

We have 48 active cavalry divisions for turn 19, meaning will well get 16 cavalry corps, with 1 more corps by turn 22.

We still require about 1000 cavalry squads to fill our divisions, with 400 cavalry squads per turn, all 17 cav corps will be ready by Blizzard!

We will also need 17 out of the total 36 sapper regiments for the Cavalry corps, I will also take care of this.

By December, the Supreme leader will have the grand honor and responsibility to decide which Front gets which Cav corps, decide carefully, only 17 for the entire winter and they can make a big Impact.

Final note:
only one last hurdle, there are 2 ways to decide what divisions to chose to build corps, based only on quality, or based on the numbers of wins/losses.
to explain the last point: once the corps is created, it takes the highest number of loses and the highest number of wins, for each 3 cav divisions,
this is important, because what gets Guards status is based on wins/loss rations, for example, if one corps has 5 loses, it might need 13 or higher wins just to get Guards status.

I will try to create at least some best quality corps with some wins or 0 loses. these ones will be specially marked.

quote:

Soviet South Commander
I took the initiative to manage the Cav for the 1st turn, I only moved the cav to the center of the map and sent about 20 sapper regiments to Stavka in accordance to the Cav corps training program.

Only next turn (21) will we be able to train the sky battalions, I ask my comrades to make sure AP does NOT fall below 60 please.

Important note, there is a very good rifle divisions at full strength in Nizhny Tagil, I marked it red.

Supreme leader, I think its time to start restraining most of the new arrival-depleted divisions, I propose we keep then in the Urals, at the edge of the map at 20% ToE, so all replacements will go to the active armies. we don't have enough manpower for all rifle divisions, even at 70% ToE, there are just to many of then, we want all out front line divisions at best strength possible right at Blizzard. we should still send the Brigades. they don't require much manpower.

quote:

Soviet South Commander
I've created the 80 ski battalions, may the serve us well in this winter and the future. you guys may spend AP at ease.

quote:

Soviet South Commander
we have about 10 off map construction brigades, just 1 can fix a rail hex in one turn. I should order to Build some Engineers sapper Brigades to help with rail repair

I started doing checklists and spreadsheets precisely because of the long turns to "remember" what was happening when the turn did eventually come back.

My experience is never to hurry anyone as they then actually go slower. Let them do what they have to do - and try to get rid of the gaps in between.

But I do think just leaving a turn with nobody even bothering to check if someone should be doing something is very poor.

Rules of the game are we should upgrade to the lastest version of the game v1.11.03 at the time - but the Soviet Supreme commander has not done so. Which has meant carrying on with the construction and sapper bugs of v1.11.00! The latest patch is not downward compatible so they had to upgrade or else they could not continue to play at all! The latest upgrade though might hamper our air war.
