T002 Soviet South

quote:

there seems to be confusion among the Nazi allies: No movement from the Fascists allies on the Carpathian front. This proves a relief on our Southern Front that we must exploit.

Although the forces of the border are now unfrozen during the Soviet phase of turn 2, none are moved. On the road to Kiev our forces drop back to the river Sluch.

quote:

South Soviet Commander
... not too impressed with my opponent; T2 and he's not even past the Goryn river! I took the opportunity to mess with his supply again so my line should be fairly safe...
- Defending the Rumanian border to really frustrate AGS and delay building their rail from there
- Starting to dig in along the Dnepr, in the main cities and on the isthmus to the Crimea
..
I do expect to have to fall back quite a bit next turn, but this turn I thought it safe enough to severely delay AGS' advance.

T002 Soviet Air

The Soviet team now has an Air commander. Strategic bombing of the Rumanian oil fields proves ineffective, but there is some success in damaging the arms industry of Koenigsberg. A lot of bombers are lost in the process.

quote:

Soviet Deputy Supreme Commander
Bomb any and all exposed Panzer or Motorized Division that are nearest our defence line - without mercy.
Enemy airbases are not to be bombed, as doing this so close from the enemy lines of supply will shred our bomber forces needlessly.

quote:

Air Soviet Commander
I will begin sending aircraft to the reserve for reorganization. Please be aware the lack of air support will only be temporary and the air force will keep up air recon and fighter cap as best as possible.

With 2nd Army unfrozen and the FBDs heading south there is not enough rail cap for all - it has to be rationed and choices made.

For information only.

(Decided to reverse the normal order and put team allocations first. During the actual turn the team will see the allocations before doing their go so it makes sense to present it in the same order here.)

T003 Axis South

Last turn 14th Panzer division headed to Rumania meaning the forces on both sides would be unfrozen. But much to our surprise the Soviet forces remain on the border unmoved. So having planned to not let them escape and then allowed them to, they decided to stay put and our plan for the south came true anyway!

Turn done in the south, good result!

By the rules I was banned from doing air missions - but the need for one person to co-ordinate air was apparent:-

Leningrad is in escort range now, but not if one ground commanders uses every bomber up in auto missions!

The Soviet team chat was put in to the ipad game area for others to not see. I guess for a cancelled game they thought no one would ever see. It is now moved into the WitE area.

The Soviet security plan had one fatal flaw, the subforum the thread was located in is directly below the tester forums. So any Axis WitE 2 tester will easily stumble upon it.
(I do NOT accuse anyone of spying here of course)

We could have started on Osinovets on turn #2 .. it is the disadvantage of team games .. although it think the advantages out weigh the disadvantages with the right team .

Not even that! Everytime we clicked on Soviet player profiles to send them a message, their profile helpfully showed their last ten forum posts all saying "2x3+ Soviet Team" !!!!!!!!!!

Yes - Southpaw89 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be fair the Soviet Supreme commander told me about the secret forum, so we knew not to go there. And not being mixed up with the other AARs we were viewing meant we were not one click away from accidentally entering. Instead we were two clicks away from accidentally entering!

T003 Soviet North

quote:

Soviet Deputy Supreme Commander

In the North, Panzer Divisions are bottled inside the swamp area north of Peipus Lake, while the enemy movements are unknown in front of Pskov. Start building a line of defence behind the Luga River with reinforcements, while manning the Narva line with sufficient troops to keep the line strong.

Do not forget to put a good division with a lot of construction value in Pavlovo, since this the last line of defence for Osinovets. This is critical: If Osivonets is lost, Leningrad is lost.

Instruction for Air Command: Recon in priority in the area in front of Pskov and up in Estonia. We need to know what forces are committed for Pskov...

T003 Soviet Centre

quote:

Soviet Deputy Supreme Commander
In the Centre, the whole line is holding firm, even in the landbridge. Next to no movement from the Fascist armoured and motorized divisions, except a small skirmish that has cleared the northern road to Vitebsk. Reclaim at once to prevent easy movement toward the city.

Minsk is still holding. This, together with the dwindling pockets being liquidated by the Nazis, assuredly hinders their supply lines to the Centre.

quote:

Soviet Centre Commander
It will be T4 and they haven't event crossed the Dvina yet, so their 2-turn starting impetus is gone and we have bought precious time here.

Most of my strong points are around or over 20 Defense CV, so those will have to be Deliberate-Attacked to be displaced. Smolensk, meanwhile, is a rock.

I have brought Divisions from the rear to plug the remaining holes and begin building the Smolensk's MLR near Demidov.

I decided that Gomel itself is too vulnerable to be encircled if the Germains pierces through Zlobin. I have thus retreated the stronghold behind the river.

I won't hide that I am scared to death of a HQBU here. Even if they had next to no supply next turn, I do not know if it influences anything.

T003 Soviet South

Situation critical in Southern Sector. the Nazi Panzer Group South has veered southward, completely overrunning Proskurov. This has created a huge pocket surrounding half of standing divisions of Southwestern Front, plus a small part of Southern Front that cover the Carpathian frontier.

Evacuate everything at once toward the Dnepr river, making a retreat in step to slow down the Fascists while you build your Main Line of Resistance along the Dnepr. Your first objective is to preserve your army. The aim is not make a stand at those temporary lines, but to buy time as you bring reinforcements to the Dnepr and build your forts.

The Dnepr, however is to be held and fought for. Make the Fascists pay in blood for every meter they pass over the River!

I requested Comrade Stalin to send Commissar Nikita Khrushchev to assist you - and ensure you do not fail in your mission. He will also bring your confidential mapplan below approved by STAVKA, for your eyes only.

Air is for the most part in reserve minus recon. I will be focusing with my AP on making Moscow Air Command a force to be recond with over the coming turns. I will be transferring both PVO air corps to the moscow air command army HQ. I will be fleshing out the 3 HQ's with AA Regiments, and the best leaders available along with all the modern fighters. The axis will regret coming within 5 hexes of the Moscow air command HQ's / Airfields.
