Unless I am missing something in the manual, I've noticed that setting the payload for P-38s and P-51s to "auto" prevents them from using their largest tanks: 2x300 gal for P-38 and 2x150 gal for P-51. "Auto" is 2x150 gal for P-38 and 2x75 gal for P-51. This means that the Berlin region is out-of-range from England when their payload is auto. Manually setting their payload to the "big" tanks hits them with an unnecessary performance penalty on any short range missions that I want them to fly (in addition to the long-range missions).

Was this intended?

FYI, my weekly air orders tend to be complex (as they were IRL), requiring use of auto-selection of groups/squadrons and auto payload as much as possible. It has worked very well for me, except for the drop tank selection.

Load out selection routine is complex function, because it has to deal with existing data when some aircraft have DT load outs with the same endurance mod, but with various ammunition attached (ex. bf-110). So game tries to detach DT /w bombs from the fighter type missions, but in your example it denies loud out w/ highest range, because both load outs have the same ammo mod.

Bug #1950 registered and fixed. Thanks for the report.
