I didn't say the Readme file. I said the "What's New.doc" file.

Ah sorry, my mistake.

Before I make a mistake again, that "What's New" file lists the differences to the latest TOAWIII version?
Would it be OK if I upload it to other boards or send it by mail to interested people?

It had better list the new features of TOAW IV, not TOAW III.

I don't know about what you can do with it. Wait for Tamas - he'll be back around tomorrow.

The document referenced by CL should be in the "Manuals" sub-folder of the game. We will see about upload it here soon.

I realize the TOAW veterans do not give a flying crap about this because they live this game.

I'm with you on this and I've been here for 15 years, using my 128 page paper manual [copyright 1994] that is held together by staples !

Actually, for daily use I use the pdf manual that comes with the game. But I like your suggestion of an editable version. To expect anyone to do this is a bit unreasonable, I think. It does sound like a good project for someone that is manual oriented, someone from the community that can maintain a dedicated thread and keep the manual current. I know that this was done for Commander Europe at War [the manual was a huge file though, due to redundancies, and difficult to host].

Not enough advertisement is given the What's New doc, it should be everyone's go to place [before clogging up the forum with stuff that is already well covered. It was at the top of my video notes for the video that I never made

What's the logic behind providing a manual "preview" rather than the whole manual? Surely anyone ready and able to pirate the game would pirate them manual as well...

Frankly, having already bought three versions of this game, and given the dearth of screenshots that have been posted, I'd like to see what the new version is like before deciding to buy it, and the best way to do that is via the manual.

Dearth of screen shots? I think there are tons of screenshots, if you count videos also.

And those are just the first few I ran into.

Actually I don't count video, it is too time consuming to watch. There are a handful of screenshots on the product page, and a handful might have been put out in recent weeks, but I don't think so.

There was only one video thread. There are probably over 100 in the UI thread doc.

The UI doc is helpful. But I still don't understand why the full manual should not be available.

The UI screenshots were helpful, but obviously don't contain as much info as the manual. I would think they'd want to release the full manual to help market the game...

Well naturally, but I thought you wanted the manual for screenshots.

Just found a mistake on the manual, regarding the jump map:

quote:

Double-clicking on the Microview will open up the ‘jump map,’ a full screen map with the same scale as the Microview

Actually should say "a full map with the same scale...", since it's not full screen.

The problem here is that the "patch notes" in the game launcher takes you to the "whatsnew.pdf" file in the root folder, which is pretty much empty, but the file that people need to read is "Whatsnew 4.0.docx" which is in the Manuals folder.
Some of us are used to see the same file in pdf or doc in the same folder, back then with TOAW III

Sorry I don't like to complain but the shipping fees are more expensive than the upgrade to the box. Not sure why it is like this but 34$ to send a box seems unreasonable, I mean the upgrade to the box is only 20$ more... cant we have more option, I dont mind waiting ;)

Still waiting for news about the full manual to be released before buying. I don't understand why this is an issue...

I miss an explanation for "New Mud and Snow Rules" in the advance game options.

Some things were developed after the manual went to press. Read the "What's New.doc".

No such file exists. Furthermore, no other file contains the answer to this question either. Hjelp?

Is this what you are looking for?

VII. NEW MUD AND SNOW RULES:

If this advanced rule is optioned, when snow melts, it is converted to mud. Furthermore, mud dries out proportionate to temperature. (Cold: very little; Hot: very fast). This will facilitate the creation of mud seas. (This is not in the manual).

The whole document is in the "Manuals" folder under the root folder.
