The answer to the "UNLESS" query I pose will be answered when the IJN catches up and attacks again. No retreat will mean the algorithm operates in two steps as I first described. A retreat will mean there is some long, long, long 'supply' path being traced to Kienko.

This is of no consequences, I am just curious.

Perhaps they were holding the map upside down? Run that away!!

Status: offline 		that completely reminds me of escape and evasion training in the army. Let me state
first off I was not the one holding the map! nor was I in any way in charge of that
particular gaggle. Lets just say I would have opened the map BEFORE we escaped.

What is more interesting Tienshui base (dot to the north-west of Sian) is not marked with Japanese hexside ownership. Which is strange, cause its color looks Japanese. Was it captured by flippage?

I thought one of those hex sides was his. That path makes more sense.

I've learned to trust it as the fastest. The The only time I override it is when I have some other reason, such as wanting the unit to stay on a road in case circumstances change rapidly.

6 hits on that pesky snooper sub near Hawaii. Four ASW TF's are pursuing it to recover the secret microfilm... oh wait.

The CL TF is still not spotted so a northward route angling down into the Marshall Islands will be our invasion route.

• Having caught some fleeting glimpses earlier, I am not surprised to now see an Imperial unit closing on Paoshan from the SW. Two hexes of mountainous cross country terrain I hope they run out of bullets quickly and then starve. We already have a unit moving from 4 hexes east of Kunming to Tsuyung, replacing the unit which marched to bolster defenses NW of Paoshan (where an Imperial Mixed Rgt is crossing the river). Another unit from east of Kunming is moving to Kunming. These Imperial movements are more than just part of increasing pressure across the board; they are aimed at undermining defenses in the mountains before Chinese units (soon to be) falling back from other areas can get there and dig in. Dastardly Imperials!

• The recent increase in size of Ledo airfield to size 8 has increased the daily supply land-draw cap to 1,100. Everything will help at this point so we can keep supply flowing into China.

• The 102nd RAF Base Force, ex-Lashio and which moved to Paoshan in the early going to aid fortification building, has finally crossed the Burma-China frontier deep in the mountains. Counting the hex they are in and their destination of Ledo, they must now cross MT, JR, Mtn, and Jg. They took this long route to avoid being sniped. BTW, anyone know the difference between terrain types MT and Mtn? So far as I know there is only one type of mountain terrain listed in the manual.

We may have found our approach vector for Cantankerous Olfactory: head to a latitude north of Johnston Island then turn west until close enough to the first two targets, Wotje and Maloelap, to make a run in to them.

Status: offline 		Looks like a different person was typing in the description code for the Himalayas and the mountains bordering them. All the grey stone/snow covered mountains appear to have the Mtn descriptor while the ones labeled MT seem to have some variability in their artwork. Since the game engine would be using a numeric code for mountains, I doubt the difference matters.

Status: offline 		well, yeah but the numeric descriptor is what points to either Mtn or MT, so I still wonder if the numeric codes resolve to anything different in other areas, like movement, combat, etc.

Might be harder to dig a latrine in mtn terrain ... but they can just go in the snow and let the archeologists be happy to find it in 1100 years.
