I feel like we're in a 'phony war' period. except for China, of course, where the Empire is relentlessly pushing.

So the big plan currently is to push into the Marshalls and Gilberts as soon as the major warships get their October '42 upgrades. We also should have at least 2 additional USN CVE on line by then, at least they can help with CAP and ferrying flight-ready fighters to captured airfields.

That whole operation should get a series of fights rolling. In NW Australia we have over 300 AV in armored units (some of that infantry type squads) ready to move on either Darwin or Wyndham or both. While they have been recovering and supply building up at Katherine (now over 500 supply) two AA units (one light, one heavy) have been marching up from the rail head at Alice Springs. They still have a few weeks to go.

Darwin still has a division in defense, but it looks like the recent shipping activity at Wyndham has reduced the commitment there to a regiment. We can overwhelm the defenses at Wyndham more quickly, but will probably suffer greater attrition from air strikes from in Koepang. Darwin we can rush to more quickly. There are currently 28 Imperial fighters seen at Wyndham. The airfield at Darwin is 100% damaged and we have split the assignments as B-24's to ground attack while the B-17's continue airfield suppression. There are far more B-24's than B-17's in the mix now (all at Cloncurry). The 4EB at Alice Springs are all ferrying supply to Katherine as are the 2EB there.

So that decision, Darwin or Wyndham first, is open. Comments?

In SE Asia notice Kalemyo, recently captured by enemy paratroops, changed loyalties back to our side. No more Imperial forces at Kalemyo! Recon shows only the Imperial 148th Infantry Regiment (opposing our Chinese Army spearhead). So unless it begins later there will be no cross-border India invasion along the frontier, although the Arakan is still a possibility with its access to ports.

As greater combat power of Chinese Army units become available we will feed them into the jungle behind Akyab with the aim of tying up Imperial on or near the Burma plain. We are currently airlifting another small Chinese Army unit from China to India and another will follow right after. They will go through the same process of building up in Calcutta before being deployed. I think our India defenses are currently strong and flexible. With the augmentation of Chinese Army forces we can begin to pressure the Empire in Burma and still hold a stout defense. Comments?

How long have the Japanese been in Darwin? Is fort level a consideration?
If you can LRCAP Wyndham from Katherine or the base north of there it might be better to attack that and try to isolate the troops at Darwin. Let him lose ships and aircraft trying to extract them when you have Wyndham and Feni (or whatever it's called).
Of course all this depend on the availability of fighters and air support for multiple bases ... your call.

Good food for thought. He has too many fighters at Wyndham for me to LRCAP it, but the rest makes sense. Fenton we have, just a dot-base. I wonder how much protection those two AA units will afford?

• In response to our successful fighter sweep of Darwin the Empire now shows 52 fighters at Wyndham. There had been 28 for many days previously. The 4EB at Cloncurry will continue to target facilities and troops at Darwin.

Turns out most only needed the shipyard to get running and are able to proceed pierside. The Lexington's are the big exceptions.

I have some time and no turn today so here are a few pics of the current situation.

First, China. We are in the early stages of pulling the army out of the good defensive terrain to the east of the Chungking plain. They must begin making for the mountain redoubt or we will not have sufficient strength to hold it and keep Imperial troops tied up there.

Burma and the mountain redoubt in China. Notice the additional avenues of approach on Paoshan. I keep waiting for Imperial troops to show up along the western road into Kunming too.

I am hoping more than 2,000 AV pushing into Burma from the Arakan divert significant Imperial resources.

NW Australia. Notice the two AA units approaching Daly Waters from the south. When they arrive the armor will advance.

I think the target will be Darwin because it will be a much shorter march and therefore fewer days of enemy air strikes to endure once movement is noticed.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• No carrier sightings.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Enemy sub activity near San Francisco, Pearl Harbor, San Diego.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• Anti-autovic base building is proceeding well with the many USA and USN construction units which are still stateside moving from base to base attempting to max out building rates at as many bases as possible. Right now a number of SeaBee units are boarding trains for Las Vegas because, well, you know. Construction units are on their way to Kona to build up Kona and Hilo. A base engineering unit is moving from PH to Lihue.

• 16 days until the carriers and other warships are ready, sole exception being SoDak which is estimated for 21 days remaining in upgrade.

Pacific
• Enemy sub activity near Pago Pago.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• It should be less than 2 weeks until the first reinforcement convoy makes Suva.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• No enemy sub activity detected.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• A sample: we are getting good hits on the 4th Div. Assignments are still B-24's on ground attack and B-17's on airfield attack.

INVADED
Paoshan, Mengtze, Urumchi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• No carrier sightings. Sqn Hosho-1 in action over Darwin.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Enemy sub activity near Niihau, San Francisco.

• All convoys report no contacts.

Pacific
• Enemy sub activity near Pago Pago.

• All convoys report no contacts.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Enemy sub activity near Reef Islands, Torres Islands, Noumea.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• Sadly, the Empire is pulling out of Darwin. The 4th Div appears completely gone in just one day, a good show. There are 5 units at Darwin with 1,650 troops. Our two closest armoured units are starting to move on Darwin (from 3 hexes out) at full speed. Our bombers are re-targeting whatever ground units are there plus the port facilities (airfield 100% damaged). Nearby subs are rushing into Darwin to hit the two convoys there, which might both be fast transport. Effective Zero cover took 4x B-24D versus 3x Zero's. The P-38E Sqn will sweep tomorrow.

• Wyndham has 3 ships in port, AP, AK, and xAK. The 4EB at Alice Springs will hit the port tomorrow with the P-38F Sqn sweeping.

Philippines

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya

China
• Bombardments and air strikes; we move to try and stay ahead of the carnage.

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• No enemy sub activity detected.

• A second units has appeared opposite our Chinese Army spearhead, this one heading NE. It appears the original unit is still there and still heading NW.

• A very confused day of combat around Darwin. And now - Darwin recon shows about 12,000 troops present! Are they pulling out? Are they swapping units? There are lots of fighters at Wyndham now. Bad weather likely kept our bombers from striking Darwin (our sweeps out of Tennant Creek did not fly either).

We are reallocating some higher-quality aerial recon assets; targeting a number of 2EB; the hex is already covered by LRCAP; the enemy unit is already targeted by Sweep; admn ordering all units to make a deliberate assault.

• In most circumstances a great opportunity to attack. But here surely the Empire will swarm bombers overhead to protect their beachhead. Supplies are good enough, so we attack in both spots.

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• No enemy sub activity detected.

• We lost a few fighters (P-40E and P-39D) to Tojo sweeps over our Chinese Army spearhead. Those groups have been on LRCAP for a long time and need a break anyway, so they, and the P-40K sweepers, will rest a few days then all go on LRCAP at higher altitudes.

Overall
• No carrier sightings.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Enemy sub activity near Pearl Harbor, San Francisco, San Diego.

• A returning (empty) convoy near San Francisco is in-hex with an enemy sub and has DL 4/4.

• 10 days for the carriers and most of the warships to complete upgrades; 15 days for South Dakota; 14 days for a bunch of APD.

Pacific
• Enemy sub activity near Pago Pago.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• In two days the first reinforcement convoy should arrive at Suva. No nearby enemy activity detected.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• No enemy sub activity detected.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• We laid a mine field this turn. 3 subs, might technically be 3 mine fields for them to find.

• Good sweeps over Darwin, still no contact for the sweeps over Wyndham. 4EB strikes on Darwin were good but none flew against Wyndham (weather?). Although Darwin port is now targeted the airfield is still 90% damaged. Wyndham airfield is 9% damaged.

• Sweeps over Darwin were good, dry hole again over Wyndham. Strikes on Darwin hit the port and the troops well, and the airfield recons as 100% damaged so whatever the truth it is still out of action. The strikes on Wyndham caught several Nicks on the ground and pasted the airfield otherwise.

Oooo - haven't seen that one before. Can you provide the data for the size 2? How much money can be unloaded in one phase? or in one day? How much .... fluid? Is there a stacking limit? What support units are there? Can a Sub-Surface Combat customer reload there?

• Enemy sub activity near Perth.

• So now the 4th Division is again no longer at Darwin and there are maybe 1,200 troops present. What happened? I am betting the Imperial staff messed up the loading and had to put everybody ashore, then do it again. Our two closest armour units are again racing to Darwin. The other six are setting off for Wyndham.
