Your post still says 1942! For a second, I though you had restarted your game.

Fixed - thanks!

INVADED
Kunming, Paoshan, Mengtze, Urumchi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• No carrier sightings. But:

Heavy Volume of Radio transmissions detected at Truk (112,108).

I think KB is just north/northwest of the Marshalls.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Enemy sub activity near Pearl Harbor, Kodiak, Lihue.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• CL Cleveland and company are still making their way back to Pearl Harbor without further contact.

• In about 2 days 3x CVE will get to Pearl Harbor. They will join up with the parts of the decoy surface force to reinforce the fleet when it moves to target.

Pacific
• No enemy sub activity detected.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• An oiler TF with the fleet has been detected DL 1/0. The fleet will stay in place.

• Tomorrow we begin aerial recon of Maloelap, Wotje, and Tabiteuea.

• I am going to only use AVD for Arorae and Onotoa (commandos provide security ashore), and bring the small, light, base forces farther up the Gilbert's chain. We hold Kuria but the Empire has occupied Abemama and Maiana. Tabiteuea is the only base in the southern Gilbert's the Empire holds.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Enemy sub activity near Aoba Island, Sydney.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• A nothing.

• We are moving to bolter that position outside of Pahshan but several units in the area withdraw in 41 days. Something about enlistment bonuses.

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• No enemy sub activity detected.

• This assault was a surprise as the Empire waited for our forces to dig in. Nice experience gain.

• Imphal air base has maxed out at size 8; we are sending most of the engineer units to Kalemyo, primarily to build up the base for increased supply transport once the dreaded monsoon season arrives again. An Inf Rgt is being assigned for security. 2nd British Division is being released from defense to cross the border and join the salient against Katha. 23rd Indian Division is currently crossing the border and 19th Indian Division is already across. Also in Burma is 4 Indian Corps HQ, Aus 7th Cav Recce Rgt, Brit 3rd Carabiniers (with Stuart's). Ind 254th Armoured Bde (with Stuartss and Gen Lee's) and Brit 150th RAC Rgt (Valentine III's) will both shortly begin crossing as will various support units.

INVADED
Kunming, Paoshan, Urumchi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• No carrier sightings. I believe KB is in the northern Marshall Islands.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• No enemy sub activity detected.

• A troop convoy 7 hexes out from San Francisco reports DL 1/0.

• The fleet is not spotted and is, best guess, a little more than 30 hexes from KB. The fleet will remain in place while the additional CVE's advance to meet up.

Pacific
• No enemy sub activity detected. Enemy sub activity near Pago Pago.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• Maloelap with DL 6/10 shows 4 units, 5,180 troops, 43 guns, 0 AFV's. Wotje with DL 9/10 shows 2 units, 3,000 troops, 26 guns, 4 AFV's. We have no recon of Roi-Namur.

• KB appears to be just north or northwest of Roi-Namur.

• Search out of Kuria will begin tomorrow with an AVD arriving from Onotoa the same day (a replacement AVD is on the way there). The AVD will remain in place until the small base force can be dropped off, which is still perhaps a week away as it is loading now onto APD's at Pago Pago. Search from Kuria will cover just beyond Kwajelein Island (not sure if it will pick up Roi-Namur).

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Enemy sub activity near Brisbane.

• All convoys report no contacts.

Philippines

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya

INVADED
Kunming, Paoshan, Urumchi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• No carrier sightings. KB appears to still be in the northern/northwestern Marianas Islands.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Enemy sub activity near Johnston Island, Pearl Harbor.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• The dive bombers from Johnston Island failed to find the target. Now there will be a game of hide and seek tonight as the oiler TF behind the CVE's was also spotted.
quote:

Morning Air attack on TF, near Johnston Island at 156,111

Weather in hex: Heavy rain

Raid spotted at 17 NM, estimated altitude 5,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 7 minutes

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 22
TBF-1 Avenger x 16

Allied aircraft losses
TBF-1 Avenger: 1 damaged

Japanese Ships
DD Amagiri, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
DD Oite

Aircraft Attacking:
8 x TBF-1 Avenger launching torpedoes at 200 feet
Naval Attack: 1 x 22.4in Mk 13 Torp.
8 x TBF-1 Avenger launching torpedoes at 200 feet
Naval Attack: 1 x 22.4in Mk 13 Torp.

• The main body of the fleet is not spotted. The CVE's and the trailing oilers are spotted (the latter by sub-based air search), but the BB/CA and 3x CL TF's guarding them are not. The CVE's and their entourage will move SW to meet up with the fleet main body. The CL TF will patrol toward the remaining IJN DD then back toward the fleet main body.

• We need more warships!

Pacific
• Enemy sub activity near Howland Island.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• KB probably in the northern or northwestern Marianas Islands.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Enemy sub activity near Melbourne.

• All convoys report no contacts.

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya

China

• I think we do not have enough forces in place ot hold the mountains. I'm considering airlifting in Chindits to hold Tsuyung, but I'm not sure if the damaged airbase will allow it: runway damage 98%. I could airlift them into Paoshan (runway damage 41%) or Kunming (runway damage 0%).

• No enemy sub activity detected.

The AAR post follows now, but I am going to hold onto this turn until I make the decision about the Chindits. Comments appreciated.

Aircraft take lots of ops losses when landing on heavily damaged runways (Airbase Damage does not matter) so I would not try to land transports at the base with 97% runway damage. However, if they are starting out from a base beyond the extended range of the transport aircraft, they might drop there by parachute (supplies can be air dropped this way).

If the Chindits are within extended flying range I would fly them to Kunming where the good road allows rapid (for the Chinese) movement forward. This assumes the enemy does not have blocks set on the road movement.

They are just at normal range; that's what I've been leaning toward. Thanks.

I'm going to wait for additional commentary.

The second IJN surface group is just out of DB range from Johnston Island. The fleet is highlighted, with some CVE's and strong protection one hex to the west.

That surface group looks like bait if KB is east of the Marshalls. Keep dancing around his attempts at detecting your fleet.

Pretty sure KB is still in the NW Marshalls, not to the east. Still could be bait, though.

He's been sending in these sweeper TF's of modest size to probe and scout for Allied movements for a while now. I am thinking about moving the fleet toward Tarawa then backing out and heading north before turning west, basically to pull KB across a bunch of sub patrol areas plus chew up fuel.
