1943 June 02

INVADED
Taung Gyi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall

• Will the Roi-Namur landing be opposed by sea?

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii

• In about 4 days there will be 5x CVE plus DD escorts at Pearl Harbor ready to go. 24 days for Hornet.

Pacific

• Minor action only, and far fewer IJN subs sighted. I think our forces have hti them hard, extracting a price for their successes.

• Saratoga and Washington have passed through the main IJN sub concentration without incident.

• The Roi-Namur invasion convoys and warships are moving forward from their jump off point, dodging a bit to the north to avoid at least one IJN sub. The next day the rest of the fleet off Wotje will move to join them as they close the target.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain

Philippines

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya

China

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina

• Resolution would take 166 days to repair at Colombo and that would be close to or beyond ths ship's withdrawal date. She will head for Cape Town with it's larger ship yard in hopes that would speed repairs.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia

• Tomorrow the first of the subs just deployed to Imperial waters will arrive on station. Let's hope they catch some cripples heading into the Home Islands for repairs.

• The big IJA George formations were back over Akyab. This time they did better, besting the two marks of Hurricanes there while the Corsairs held their own. There are still a large number over Toungoo, so our daily strikes on Taung Gyi will divert there tomorrow instead. A squadron of P-39D's has been moved into Akyab to bolster the defense.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia

• On Station.

INVADED
Taung Gyi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall

• Nothing appears to have sortied from Truk after all, so we must have put a big dent in the IJN.

• Washington has repaired all minor damage and Saratoga has repaired most; they will arrive at Pearl Harbor in three days. They will refuel and head straight to Alameda.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii

• A reduced Kwajalein invasion force is loading at Pearl Harbor, 2 regiments.

• The 5x CVE TF sails tonight from Pearl for Marshalls. They will provide fresh air cover for the Kwajalein invasion.

Pacific

• Mines cleared at Roi-Namur, but not the subs!

I hope so!

Of course we keep getting messages about I boats incorrectly thought sunk but still in operation. Even still we are taking a big bite out of them. Using lots of depth charges.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall

• VP ratio is 2.000 : 1. Slow but steady progress.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii

• Saratoga, Washington, and company have refueled at Pearl Harbor and are on their way to Alameda.

Pacific

• Lots of progress in getting troops off of Roi-Namur today, down to 9,200 stacking and more troops loading up. With air support ashore a PBY squadron has moved up from the Gilberts, and combined with the PBY squadron on Wotje there is no search gap for enemy submarines to hide in east of the Marshall Islands.

• We now have good recon of Kwajalein and see there are less than 2,000 troops there; the two regiments should be plenty.

• Roi-Namur runways have 4% damage and are very much open for business. A second PBY group, this one a 4E group, has flown in to augment search in the direction of Truk. A second P-39D group has moved from Wotje, and an SBD-3 group has moved from Johnston Island to Wotje, flying search at low altitude to harry subs. In a fit of madness I also transferred in two B-26B groups to Roi-Namur to assist with ground operations. There is not enough air support present, but that will be remedied in about 5 days or so. It looks like the invasion of Kwajalein will be in 4 days.

This list has been worked over by the game so I think they are all valid. I also think additional CVE were taken down and will show up on the list later.

Have you tried issuing your subs some periscope cleaner and lint-free cloth?

INVADED
Taung Gyi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall

• Lots of ships' minor upgrades finished today.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii

• 3 days until Saratoga and Washington make Alameda.

Pacific

• We have been aided in avoiding submarine attacks by the Empire's inability to locate our TF's via air search over the last few days. Perhaps the Glen carrying subs are all in the shop. Our increased LBA search no doubt helps too.

• The Kwajalein invasion goes in tomorrow. Recon shows 2,200 troops there now.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain

Philippines

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya

China

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina

• Caradoc has so much flotation damage I've redirected her to Calicut, a size 4 port only 2 hexes away.

• Our mine sweeper with the assault convoy suffered damage and disbanded into Kwajalein to make temporary repairs and one APA will do the same after unloading supplies. • We are shifting around CAP a bit at Akyab. Most of all is the need to pull out the Corsairs to replenish airframes because of HQ assignment. The port is at 2 + 88% and as soon as it reaches size 3 we will switch back to airfield expansion so we can get more fighters in there (we have 5 squadrons right now).

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia

• No contact.

Complete combat report attached.
