1944 February 02 INVADED INVESTED Taung Gyi CHANGED OWNERSHIP Overall • The IJN carriers moved to a point 1 hex NW of Iwo-Jima, 2 hexes from our carriers (1 hex SE of Iwo-Jima). • The carrier in the DEI is not spotted; I don't know if it moved around to the north of New Guinea. West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii Pacific • The escort carriers and the OBB are moving to join the fleet carriers. The invasion forces are moving to a jump off point near the northern Marianas from where they will move toward Iwo-Jima. New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain DEI, Dutch New Guinea, Borneo, Malaya • They are served notice. quote:

The AVD, and an amphibious convoy with an engineer Bn, is moving to Hollandia for shelter. The P-47D2 squadron there has 31 pilots, 27 of them with experience 80 or greater. A think a raid by a small carrier would work out very badly. Philippines China India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia • Our subs scored twice. The air battle went quite well but four of our fleet carriers were hit. Saratoga is fine while Bunker Hill and Intrepid need yard time but both are operational. Wasp's damage stands at 34-48-15-0 and she can make 14 knots, call it 4 or 5 hexes per day. The big question is will she make it past the enemy submarines. Almost all her aircraft diverted, most to Pagan, and I hope to get the parent fragments unloaded at a port so the squadrons can recombine and continue operations, but the closest ports that can dock her are Ponape and Kwajalein. Or - query - can she offload the squadrons if disbanded in a smaller port? quote:
