Right... another treat for all of you; I am glad that I had the auto-save function on. So,
here are T1 to the beginning of T5. For your re-evaluation. Dump the filed into
Documents\My Games\The Operational Art of War IV\Saves folder.

I certainly am picking up some tips! One thing I guess I have been weak in is putting artillery into Tactical Reserve to get the best out of it. Is there a value to putting other units into Tactical Reserve as well?

Other units in Tactical Reserve will try (if they got (M)ovement (P)oints left) to assist an adjacent attacked unit. The TR for the artillery was just... well, been lazy and not really an attack planner fan-boy; but... it works; they will support whatever attack or defence need their support :)

Herr Oberst, are you using some kind of special beta there? It seems that you are able to move the unit panel

No, with 4.0.15; the drag & drop is still a bit iffy, but it works; ones has to drag in from the corners...

There must be something I awfully fail to understand.
I tried this scenario in the hope to learn the ropes of this game, but it seems extremely confusing. And when a Battallion of Yugoslavian Border Guards can stall for turns to come 2/3 of a Panzer Division I smell something terribly wrong. It's either in what I do or the game engine; point is that even the most silly of the frontal all out attacks from the Germans should mincemeat the Border Guard unit.

I understand this is a player-made tutorial (in absence of a real tutorial that should have came built in the game, like other games have...) but I've been left with the opinion to just have trashed 35 bucks.

I didn't go into specific details or 'under the hood'; e.g. the health state, as well as the supply situation after 4.5 days of combat, not to mention the weather (which is ****ty and some off-road places are already mud). I would like to know which version you downloaded. I updated it once, before I started the slides for TOAW IV.

Alas, as your questions and reservations are more than valid, I will try (before the Bayern-Gladbach match) some details about supply, proficiency, readiness, etc. and some raw data, deal? E.g. I made the overall proficiency for the border guard units above average, not much, but to ensure at least they just don't disintegrate when 'seeing the elephant'...

I've downloaded it few days ago. In the screenshots here for example I see already a CAV unit and not a BRD unit in the first town. So something have been altered.

There you go - Tutorial '41 folder goes into \Documents\My Games\The Operational Art of War IV\Graphics Override, the Tutorial '41.SCE file into \Documents\My Games\The Operational Art of War IV\Scenarios.

I mentioned the update and posted one, but I guess I should retrace the earlier posts to delete it ;)

So, give it another try, and again... It's a tad easier now, but still challenging.

Will give it another go later - at least here, like a tutorial, there is written step by step what to do and at times added the explaination to -why- we're doing that specific thing.

Many thanks for the assistance / effort. I feel the first steps in a game are a must, since players can be put off otherwise and just shelve the game and move on. (Not that the Strategic gaming landscape offers grand alternatives either).

Please do! For me it's an encouragement to produce good stuff (more or less I guess). Your words in fact are an encouragement to deal with some situational tutorials later on; e.g. river crossings, supply, the logistical parts, too.

With regard to slide 19 I have two questions:
A) Maybe the answer is obvious....but: Why did you choose a limited attack?
B) If you did not go for a limited attack which unit would advance?

Thanks for all your effort....

....10 min left before the game Bayern - Gladbach
