I will rephrase your question by:
do you prefer to play as a general, commander-in-chief or infantryman?
Always as an infantryman.

I have Gary's game, never enough time to play it, should have taken a pass on it, because if you ain't playing it, why buy it.

I don't have the other two, wish I did.
Because I liked ASL enough to buy all of it. Not sure I'd play it any more than my ASL though.
I played the original SC, loved it. Refused to play the tiles ones though.

I'd likely play the new SC, but, I have not permitted myself to buy new wargames until I can prove I play the ones I have now.

Wish I had a husband. Then I'd likely get to play them against him. Girls know how to make you play with them :)

Exlains why I buy em more than I play em.

I have all three, WitW I havent played yet since I bought it last holidays sales! SC have messed with a bit, but not enough. Which brings me to TotH, personaly and besides it´s my fav Matrix game, I find the AI quite a challenge which adds to it being my fav Matrix/PC wargame. The only thing I dislike is the ctrl+ combo (unit selection), and the map size, wish you could resize the map!

As someone here on the forum say´s, "you never have enough wargames", so it´s not a matter of if you have time to play them or with who, it´s more of how many do you have! I think alot of us just buy wargames because we like them and because we say to ourselves, "I´ll play it some day when I have time, or when I retire".

I always have an excuse to buy another wargame!

Red

PD.: Most likely all three will give you a challenge, as all three are pretty good games.

I been watchin a few youtubes on TotH and they talk about that clunky UI as well. Wonder why the dev went that route of having to press control to pick up individual units from a stack? That's worse than old joystick days when you had to scroll the list and pick one and then press the joystick button.

I do prefer UI where I hardly have to press the mouse button once and no hotkeys that are "forced" on me. Hotkeys and ctrl buttons are fine but let me choose if I want to use them or not. There's two buttons and an operational scroll wheel on the mouse; why don't the devs use them?

I even think I've seen a mouse with 3 buttons AND a scroll wheel on the middle button.

Also, why don't they put TotH on Steam? I'd buy it for sure there as I'd have an opportunity to try it and return it if I didn't care for the UI?

I admire your discipline Mrs. W.

Of the three games, SCWW2 is the easiest and quickest to play.

WitW is sort of the board game that sits on the shelf and you marvel at the map and counters once in a while. WitE/WitW are masterpieces with incredible development support. So I don't feel bad not playing them much, as the money went to a good cause. Plus, now everything is so discounted from the $80.

TotH fulfills my 30-year wish to play a Squad Leader type game so easily on the computer. The control-key thing is a small price to pay for not having to do all that ASL-like math yourself. Truly a miracle. And on sale, the price for this one is laughable, although I realize things are tight for many people.

One question Rousseau; do you have to press that ai continue button after every ai move? I saw this happening on some of the youtube videos. Surely there is a just keep moving till I click the button option isn't there?

Although it´s a bit frustrating (Ctrl. combo) at times, I agree with Rosseau comment above. Apart from the math, all the dice rolling/ware too!

Yes, the AI continue button has to be pressed for each phase.

When I was a kid, I used to watch a TV show called "The Price is Right" hint

PD.: That was 40 years ago! Been away from the US since. I just seen that they still do the show!

If you stop watching the videos on youtube, you could use this time to scroll the list and pick one.
