Thanks Tony! I am learning how to use masks and layers and should upgrade the graphics over the summer.

Francois is busy jaunting around Europe, most likely next turn will be a couple of days.

The KB never left. I have no screen shots for the next few days but KB just shifts positions, sweeping KiraKira which declines the invitation.

I have always used the maximum variable on reinforcement arrivals to keep my games as variable as possible.

I don't want to be able to predict arrival times from prior game experience.

Not sure what you mean by your question if the intel screen changes?

I've always assumed the intel screen listing of reinforcement arrivals reflects the variability setting that is chosen.
I've presumed that the chosen variability factor is applied prior to game start for all reinforcements and reflected in the intel screen. That would be the only way it could work. If you wait until a given units non-variable entry date to apply the variable, then the (-) effect wouldn't work. The only way given unit can enter earlier than normal is if the variability factor is applied prior to that date. Game start makes the best sense for when that would be implemented.

I am nearing the END date of the first scenario I have ever played to completion and I definitely have reinforcement arrival dates that are AFTER the scenario ends. I take this to be a reflection of the variability factor.

that makes sense, I will proceed accordingly. I ask because future planning
revolves around some specific dates for arrival, transit, and deployment. The
transit is of course variable but predictable. If the reinforcement screen
were to change in game I would have issues, (with my plans, not the game).
I have also not been able to figure out if an amphibious TF docked or not
is considered at sea or in port. This matters for how I defend against IJN
naval air in an invasion zone. I really should sandbox some of this stuff
but time always seems to be at a premium, comes with marriage.
Thank you sir.

ps, Was it you Hans who showed how the replacement squadrons worked from the
CVEs?

The major warships already under construction have definite arrival dates but in the editor some ships have the arrival date set as 999999, which I think tells the game to randomize their arrival over a range of time.

Even with no variation in arrivals I have seen unit arrivals after the end date of the scenario. My first time out with the Philippine Sea scenario I was fooled by some late arriving ships and LCUs into thinking the scenario must run that long, so I did not get to one of the crucial islands in time!

I think all 9's means no arrival for units. It's a way of keeping them in the scenario file for later use.

Never thought of that. Will have to check it out when I next start a scenario.

Recall that Tracker has an option in many of its display screens to ignore or filter out things with 999999 arrival dates.

Planning your operation around when something may or may not arrive from your opponent's reinforcements is using super intelligence not available during the real war. Like Hans I prefer to play with the largest reinforcement variable so we cannot predict, to the day when our opponent may get a reinforcement of high value.

It's my own reinforcements that concern me. lol. I am counting
on several support units for landings and praying the Chinese
are not delayed further than what it says.

In that case since you are planning around your own reinforcements you have to deal with the supply SNAFU.

actually it should be "9999" arrival date, which is non-date for that scenario.

Bon Voyage!
I hope the heat wave over there subsides before you arrive!
One thing that helps if you have to be out on hot days is a wet item around the neck. I have something the Aussies call a "cobber" that is a cloth "snake-like" tube with gel beads inside. Soak it for 10 minutes and the beads absorb so much water the tube is near bursting. Keeps you cool all day.
