In China, the Japanese troops did eliminate Chinese communist troops who tried to break through in the far north.

Batavia falls to the Japanese. All the oil fields are now Japanese controlled and Kuala Lumpur has been entered by Japanese forces.

Rabaul gets garrisoned. And in the United States, the debate in congress continues when for the third time a bill to declare war on Japan is rejected. The Imperial government of Japan makes statements in the press:

"The Dutch, British and French have been occupying nations throughout the world and stolen it's treasures for their own benefits. It's time that the peoples of Asia and Africa take over their own governments. That's the reason for our attack. We announce the birth of the republic of Indonesia. It's first president will be instated on january 1st. 1942. We also announce the birth of the republic of Madagaskar, where elections for the presidency are being prepared."

In congress, the debate rages on on whether or not should the Japanese be punished for the attacks. What's more important: the right of the individual peoples to govern themselves or the right of the British, French and Dutch to their colonies? And what about Germany and it's allies?"...

Let's first start with a correction. I didn't post the destroyed pool of the Sep-Okt 1941 turn. It isn't that impressive at all, but it gives an idea of how the war in the USSR has gone into a stalemate due to bad weather.

Well, the turn ended with the US Congress again refusing to declare war on the US. Here's the destroyed pool of N/D 1941...

So we enter J/F 1942. The Axis won the initiative. The Finnish high command orders Ski troops to keep in touch with their Soviet counterparts in the far north:

8 U-boats sailed into the North Atlantic. 1 sailed into the Far Oes Gap and the Kriegsmarine sorties out of Brest into the Bay of Biscay. After two combat rounds, the CW aborts the North Atlantic. Next impulse, the big guns of the Kriegsmarine also cleared the Bay of Biscay of convoys. The United Kingdom will have problems getting the factories filled this turn. This is the situation in Western Europe:

And now: the situation after the next Axis impulse. Strangely enough, it were the actions of Dönitz submarines, which causes the losses of a lot of US Merchantmen which made the US congres very angry. And since there was again a bill proposed to declare war on Japan, congress agreed on that one.

But the US war machine wasn't in position to make the life of the Japanese navy really difficult (i.e.: I got very lucky with search rolls) during the surprise impulse. The Japanese even killed of one US convoy before running away from Pearl Harbor. Lucky me.

So the Japanese invaded on Borneo, Guam and the Phillipines. The attack on Wake Island was cancelled when the Japanese ships carrying the division to land there, was spotted by the US navy. Only a the fact that the Japanese vessels were faster made, kept them alive...

And in the Soviet Union: nothing happened in snow...

Why are some losses not showing?

And here is the destroyed pool. Not showing are 4 (!) Soviet pilots and 5 CW convoys which were lost this turn...

Only units in the destroyed pool are shown. (Not surprisingly, because that is what is being shown!) Only units that can go back into the force pool go into the destroyed pool, where they sit until the end of the turn and the players decide whether they go into the force or scrapped pools. Pilots and CPs are never in the force pool; there are always an infinite number available to be created. (OK, because of the limitations of computers, in MWiF some very large number, smaller than infinity. For game purposes, infinite.) So pilots and CPs never show up in the destroyed pool.

yep, most likely 32k or 64k (which is 65,xxx in human numbers) unless someone got stingy and kept it at 256 or 1024 ;-)

After the next couple of impulses, the turn ended. So this is the situation at the start of the first impulse of M/A 1942.

US Congress decided to declare war in Germany and Italy to. Brazil and Panama decided to enter the war too. And to make it a total war, Germany and Italy declared war on China.

In Northern China, the stalemate continues...
