If Kamloops on the Calgary-Vancouver railway is in stock it is also vulnerable to para assault. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Michael will remember this, but years ago there was a lengthy discussion of various Japanese strategies for a West Coast offensive. The strategic bombing implications were discussed at length - the points that could be harvested in that way, without necessarily triggering the West Coast emergency reinforcements. I think that discussion took place in my AAR against Panzerjagger Hortlund ("War and Peas") about six years ago. Hortlund invaded Canada and engaged in strategic bombing, both by land and KB at sea off California.

As I recall, Bullwinkle and Alfred were two primary contributors to that thread. It might be worth re-reading.

Yes, the question of autovictory with strategic bombing as I recall. Won't there be P-38's all over the place pretty soon now given the accelerated reinforcements?

Also this. If he brought paras and transports...wings on, on a CVL for instance...or an AKL (if Japan has any)...he could take Ogden or Boise and Butte and stop your strategic movement toward Seattle.

Have you been reading the manual or something?

I think the Wolverines in this case were the resistance fighters in "Red Dawn".
But if there are some armoured Wolverines available they would be good too.
That lil' girl needs about 12 years before she's hot enough for a Hollywood war flick.

Since Portland is lost, does that mean no Intel?
If no Intel, then how does my computer tower work?
If no tower working, then no AE.
Therefore, this never happened.

You can still get Intel from overflights.

In place of Japan player I'd get the hell out of Dodge the next turn as long as I have fighter cover available for the transports. There is nothing else to achieve on the West Coast, and other important cities are impenetrable with only 2 IDs on the ground.

What we don't know is the auto victory calculations here, but in general I think you are correct. How many VP did Japan earn from this move? Will it be enough to get AV, or delay AV by the Allies till mid 45 or later?

I think the Allies should seriously look at a Tavoy area invasion...distract the KB with a feint in the Pacific, or else simply pull the trigger when the KB is spotted in the Pacific and hit Upper Malaya with a lot with the goal of getting Allied tanks into the Thailand plains in 1943 racing for Vietnam.

Of course, it makes the game kind of ground war in Asia...and that might not be to Michael's liking.

A Solomons campaign can be be performed without carriers.

My guess is that the Allies will still be strategic bombing Honshu in 1944 as long as auto victory can be avoided...and my guess here with limited information is that it can be. I also have confidence in Michael savaging the KB by mid 1943 and when that happens there is really nothing that can stop the Allies from any avenue of attack with overwhelming force. An interesting option would be rotating invasions across the Empire.

The first Allied Command emptied the SRA to there, using PP to buy out everything he could, and perhaps even switching base HQs? Perhaps some Commonwealth troops have made it there too.

He also seemed to think he could win the game in 1944 sometime, which even with the good starting position here in the SRA seems overly optimistic.

It will be a very interesting game, no doubt!

Seems like a good start but if you are going to build up the airfields on Eastern Timor and the Lesser Sundas better be sure they can be held or you just built up the future Japanese defense line. Darwin is key for operations up this line toward the PI. Very interesting game indeed. I think the early USAAF air groups make this entirely possible.

So this is scen1 ? Guess it will be then a more WW1 style game, as Japan lacks assets compared to scen2. And if the CVEs are gone the Allies will have trouble with the usual big amphib operations. Will be interesting to see if he has written off these troops in the US already or if he wants to follow up this coup? I would do option 1 probably, for me it seems to dangerous losing more there (esp. probable AP style and combat ships). If the loss of troops can be minimized this does not impact the Japanese *that* much, of course they would appear with a bad experience when rebuild...losing CVs/CAs/DDs or APs in this operation however will be crippling.

Btw, here the trailer for your AAR, why not hire Chuck Norris, he can handle 20.000 IJA troops with ease alone

Logistics, logistics, logistics...

That is where I've been since I got up to do a morning turn. It will take a month as some of my ocean going merchants get away from Australia to work on moving more supplies into theater. Beanie did a good job of getting significant fuel out of SRA. I'll try to get more.

Is all that reflected in victory points overview? How are the victory points total looking?

I have no idea of how victory points are treated in this situation at all...
