Hi,

Does anyone know where I maybe able to locate a version of the game map that would look clear when printed in grey scale.

There are several planning maps available. They will print from PDF form. They are VERY
expensive to print even half size. I checked years ago on this at Kinkos and FedEx, then
went to a real print agency, Bay Imaging, who would have been happy to print for me for a paltry
$750.00 black and white .The manual, on the other hand, can be printed and bound
for under $80 and I have found this to be most excellent as the glue bindings in mine have
long since dried out.

I was able to print and laminate one of the planning maps at Office Depot on 36x24 for around $35. The problem is with the colour map, I find it difficult to differentiate the Islands from the mass of blue at any distance. Printing the same map in B&W gives the same problem. I was looking for something with a little more contrast.

You could use a program like GIMP to set the colors, contrast, and hues first, but I'm somewhat color blind
and have not found it of much use for that. You could use GIMP or such to turn it into gray scales which
might help. The biggest problem is the damn map is so LARGE.

In libre office there is an option to change a certain color to another with a range. So you can simply replace all Ocean blue with white.

Have you tried here....

Zazzle Custom Posters

Just upload your image and they will print it as big as you want and post it out to you in a tube. You can pay a bit extra for better paper (obviously) but still good value.

I bought a full size game map (36"x24") on plain paper a while back and was totally satisfied. I put it in a cheap picture frame and play games with the map under glass....

I had considered this option, but felt I'd rather print the map than risk losing my collection of "knock knock" jokes I have been accumulating up there for years.

Perhaps you need a new brain, with a larger capacity.

I searched for a suitable upgrade but all I could find was used equipment, and there was no warranty ...

Yeah, and then there's the possibility that it came from the shallow end of the gene pool.
