Turn 3 Vinnista EoT

Scrap together a defense for the upcoming onslaught. I open up a path to the units that were cut off.

I am closing both of my AAR's down. I may or may not open it up from time to time on both of the AAR's to make a comment but for all practical purposes, I will not be sharing any further information on either of my two games from my perspective. Thanks to everyone for looking.

If you like to follow the game please see BrianG's AAR on our game.

I am still playing my games. I am just not sharing my side of the story in an AAR. I may or may not change my mind. But thank you.

After some contemplation the AAR continues

Turn 4 Pskov BoT

No Pskov defense here from my old AAR used in this game. I intend to give up Leningrad with a fighting withdraw dealing as much as possible in delay of turns. The Soviets pretty much can't hold a hex and if they do it is for maybe up to 3 helds. I am also defending everywhere on the map but take note I know certain areas to be German dead spots early in the game. Will try and contain any breakout with a speedy rail of reinforcements to the sector that needs help. Also all reborn infantry will be put at 45% TOE and rushed to the front in the coming turns. I do this for a couple of reasons. One 45% ToE is right at the point where the unit normally won't shatter. These units will also pretty much retreat when contacted. Lastly I use them as reinforcement for other Divisions that have good exp & morale. Thus if need I could combine two 45% ToE divisions to get a 90% ToE division. Not to mention after a few soak off attacks a division will go unready. Add one of these 45% ToE divisions to that division that went unready and WHAM the division is ready to attack again. Now there is a cost in AP's if you do this wrong ;-). BUT if you know what to do and how to do it you can do all of these upgrades for free :). I won't go into detail but it can be done 100%. Happy experimenting, I did.

Turn 4 Smolensk BoT

Mass Soviet Bombers around Smolensk. Should be able to produce 250+ bomber runs with all of them. I have to remember to stack them at the end of the turn just in case of bombing by the Germans (of course I think I forgot a 2nd time the end of turn 4 too without looking ahead at my own photos)

Turn 4 Odessa BoT

Pocket is sealed tight.

Brian learned quickly in the first 4 turns that I will normally find an open spot and exploit it. I find Brian being very careful the next handful of turns to make sure of interlocking ZoCs or a full wall to wade through to try a relief effort. These are much better pockets which is a good thing.

The little photos are too distorted since I don't know exactly how to downsize the photos. I am going to post the normal size photo since I don't have time to figure it out at the moment. (I never seem to have enough time) :(. If some good soul can enlighten me that would be great.

Turn 4 Finish enter the WAR End of Turn photo (EoT)

Finns surround the normal two units and release the bottom Soviets. I remove everything that can get on rails to the South to face the Germans. I have no intention of loosing any more units or losses in General to the Finns. I RUN LIKE HELL.

Turn 4 Leningrad End of Turn (EoT)

I continue my fort building in the Leningrad area. It doesn't look like I am going to need them. BUT you never know.......

I also garrison Tallinin with some units.

Turn 4 Pskov EoT

Brian makes a lunge for the swamp crossing NW of Pskov. I have that garrisoned by a well endowed infantry unit ;-). I set up an ad hoc checkerboard defense. It is only to delay or entice surrounding units with normally stronger units in the rear (but not always, l like to change it up sometimes.

Turn 4 VL EoT

Ok, I set up the reserve front(30th Army) under Khomenko to take the brunt of German attacks. Needless to say German attacks for the next 20 turns will fall upon the 30th Army commanded by Khomenko. The units under him are FRESH MEAT straight off the street experience from the low 10's to maybe as high as 18, if I am lucky. 20 turns later after a mauling pretty much continuous these units just hit the 27-29 Experience after 10's of thousands of loses and a stat increase for Khomenko. 23 wins and 136 losses. At turn 24 they are in the jaws of being surrounded yet again. I don't know what will happen but it is blizzard next turn. We will follow the 30th Army on this journey to turn 24.

By the way the Yellow Army behind Khomenko is Zukov's. You didn't think I would trust Khomenko to hold the line did you?

Turn 4 Smolensk EoT

Not much happening at the Land Bridge. Lots of tanks south of the Land Bridge but normally any Mech type unit that goes that way will be VERY low on fuel for awhile. I am not to worried here in the center..... at the moment.

I see I did remember to stack my bomber air bases full of nothing but bombers :)

Turn 4 Gomel EoT

I don't know what "GOMEL" did to the Germans but boy are the Germans coming for GOMEL. I scrap together what units I have to at least delay the Germans.

Moving of units I have NOT been able to get much industry or factories moved. I hope it does not come back to haunt me in the end :(

NOTE**** Unit with GREEN center has the required wins for Guard status. BUT he is needed so on the line he goes. By turn 24 I still only have 2 :(. Brian ends up surrounding all but 2 before they reach maturity :(. (Spawn more overlords!!!!!)

I pull back a little and set up line defense in depth. I hope the PZ have low fuel being so far away from supply.

Thinnly held line. Hope PZ's are out of fuel. Otherwise I am toast this close. I had them cut off a few times so that should help from earlier.

The Stalin ordered offense failed horribly.....

I know the importance of Odessa so I put a few units in it. I won't lose them unnecessarily and will remove them if need be.

I brought up two CAV in the area around Tallinin like I normally do against opponents to exploit any openings. It has never panned out against anyone other than harassment at best.
