A lot of Japanese task forces are set to patrol a hex, with quite a lot of engagement reaction...and the local commanders hear the radio waves and react...

We are not done yet folks, for good or bad. After a hefty night time air search, some missed sub attacks on destroyers, the naval forces are clashing again. The entire Allied fleets are within reaction range of fresh Japanese ships...will they react?

And we are thru the night, with a few more minor clashes...

Jakes are the first to sortie...knocking out radar mounts and AA guns.

Where is the KB though? I know where she is supposed to be, but that never really ever works out does it?

I am going to load up my a pre turn save and see if the lousy staffer that allowed the kb to retire was yours truly. I suck at this game sometimes.

Somehow this looks like a fitting end to the turn. One needs some comic relief with all the suspense and carnage

Haha. Don't be too hard on yourself yet. Still a lot to clean up here, and I doubt from previous evidence that the Allied ships will now all retreat. Your little DD TFs did well!

The KB being out of position may be a blessing in disguise. In its current position it's perfectly placed to shield Hyuga's retreat westward.

The Allied CV's are also a little more understrength than they would be otherwise, and there's always the chance that one of your subs makes a decisive move in the night phase next turn.

As cute as it is to see Jakes dropping their hand-grenades on the decks of BB's, I wonder if it would be worthwhile to have them all on naval search to make sure that DL on Allied ships is maxed out? Especially with the abysmal weather in NorPac…

I commend your bravery in wanting a CV clash in the Aleutians. With weather being such a key factor in winning battles, it's a bold move to fight in the theatre where the weather is even more unpredictable than is usual in AE...

At night they do well, but during the daytime they would get punished.

I am not really relying upon float planes from land bases for naval search, as 1 there is a strong Allied CAP presence, and 2 the weather stinks so much they often don't fly. I was hoping to get those little guys bombing the deathstar.

Back to port, and repairs. I don't like all the engine damage.

She traded blows with the big boys and came out ahead, I think....her sister ship kept fighting, and a fresh heavy cruiser force broke her, sadly.

Excellent retelling of the action.

Will the KB turn and attack or stand and cover the retreating wounded warships?
Prudance would be to cover and maybe cap trap some splintered carrier strikes.

All those Allied ships have to rearm, plus the 5 retreating ships where the Pennsylvania are have to head east as well. Most likely two more heavily damaged battleships are there...

The Kongo's are fresh, but I never like using them against American heavy Cruisers.

What an exciting day and an excellent telling of the events. As one of those who live the war when I play the game, I'm enjoying your war and especially your detailing of it. Thanks!

Thanks for the kind word guys, much appreciated.

Got the turn done much earlier, but I suspect it might be a while for the Allies finish their turn.

Good potential for lots of carnage with the next turn too!

One of the great little details from the last round was several American warships had to flood their magazines or the magazines got flooded, and the ship ceased firing. Should have put that detail in the posts...

So far you came out ahead even though the KB didn't make it's force felt. I am wondering about the small American carrier attacks, maybe one or more are damaged beyond flight operations? It might be worth a gamble to bring the KB screaming in to sink the many damaged American vessels and get a shot at the American carriers if they hang around.

Kongo's bombard Adak, Mutsu and heavy cruisers bombard Sitkin to very little damage...
