Knocking on Kunming's door making 2 hex a day...using the armored spearhead. Always have strong enough forces in reserve pursuit to keep moving 2 hexes per day. Will enter Kunming tomorrow, while the Infantry has been left far, far behind.

Massive forces moving unimpeded on good roads to take Chungking...significantly smaller forces, but strong enough to take Kunming-Paoshan road and the mountains.

Only three fresh Commonwealth units east of Cox's, no idea what they are without backtracking thru turns (or using combat reporter), only 9 units and the vulnerable Chitt...an IJA crack Division will be forcing a river crossing into an Indian brigade below Cox's to the east in a day or two.

Upon reflection, one of the units east of Cox's is an Indian Brigade the IJA forced to retreat from the dirt roads below Cox...the IJA will east, and bombard Chitt for emphasis.

Lots of fun so far. 4E beasts show up here for the first time, bombing the runways at night...some fighters dissuade them from taking their jobs too seriously.

To counter the night bombing threat the Dinah Fighter will start production next month for night duty only.

Hey, hey, curb your irrational exuberance while it 's not too late
It is not possible in this game to make 2 hexes a day on land while fighting - you can fight for one hex at a time at best

Nov 6th, 1942

I dangled the bait, had two powerful surface fleets 1 hex away, set to patrol and engage, and they simply sat there. Detection was good at night I think, and the Allies come thru with a devastating bombardment.

Allied bombardments are almost always excellent, and here they sink every single ship in port. Once in a blue moon can I hit ships in port with a bombardment. Sigh.

Well done. I got too clever. Tomorrow is another day!

Too many enemy fighters here, but cutting down on the number of destroyers the Americans can use here will pay dividends down the road hopefully. Plus sinking those lousy minelayers is good...no bombers lost.

Nothing to worry about in this list other than the DD though.

I didn't like the react plan from the beginning, but wanted to see if you could make it work. I simply can't trust reactions even with aggressive commanders.

Getting the Phoenix and the DDs after more than makes up for letting that bombardment through. Besides, he has to have something positive to keep going.

The Allied player should have the ulcers. Lowpe has pretty low actual losses compared to the beatings he's putting down here.

Hyuga makes Paramushiro, where two AR's will help her to pump out all that counterflooding, before she heads back for the dockyards of Honshu.

Ise finishes her repairs in 2 days, and will will form up with a heavy cruiser and a few destroyers and head to the Great North.

Recent reinforcements to the northern task forces are:

2 CA/5DD SAG
CL Agano
CL Oi
Several unassigned destroyers
BB Fuso
Half dozen subs
Rboat force is headed here, slowly.

My observations are those big howitzers (everything over 100mm) really make a big difference against high forts.
240mm and 300mm have always shown up well for me.
Wish I had twice as many until I look at the supply usage, then I wish I had twice the economy to afford them.
