The Adak invasion is a go, the 24th Army HQ will provide leadership, two full divisions at 100 prep will land into the teeth of American CD guns and what is no doubt a heavily fortified base in the winter time.

The game hangs in the balance here.

I wonder if 2 ID's are enough if there is a full USA DIV present … This is Dec 42, so I would be worried about a couple of Tank Bn's. I don't have your intel, so not sure what might be there.

Watching in anticipation.

Continuous BB bombardments can eventually wreck everything on Adak. Specifically running up the disruption of the strong defenders. Invasion forces would still take some time to prevail though, mainly due to that 30% winter disablement

I'm not saying it can't be done, and yes bombardments are one way to do it.

Just saying that this will be interesting and I will be enjoying watching this.

The battleships provide cover, after a heavy cruiser bombardment, but the defense is still strong...

With dawn, the invasion beach is a mess. Only one battleship provides cover, but many AMCs' step up and provide return fire...still 2 transports are hit, and the troops take more losses landing .... but the beach head is reinforced.

American subs try to hit the massive number of IJN shipping present...but strong aerial search and good destroyers and ASW task forces keep them at bay for now.

The afternoon air strike also misses, while one transport sinks and 60 men are plucked alive from the sea, the invasion goes on....

631 Allied guns hinder the invasion, and by now most ships are out of ammunition.

A small supply convoy arrives, with a last minute addition of troops on board a slow merchantman, and the supplies are unloaded, but the troops gets punished...I wonder if it is both troops on the beach or just on the merchantman (as there are nowhere near that number on the merchant)?

30+ American bombers are shot down over the screening task forces, while all night and day we waited for an American naval surge which never came...

instead an Allied shock attack attack on the beach head!

Wargamr has been pretty consistent in instantly attacking beach heads, so I pare the invasion down to invite it.

55th Division is loading at Attu and will comprise a fair amount of the 2nd wave in a day or two or three.

Yamato will arrive close to Adak this next turn, beefing up my forces significantly. She will prowl once more, looking to react/attack surging Allied naval forces.

Always interesting.
I wonder if the 100% Prep had anything to do with the fast forts.

Good luck with the second wave.

Losses in that situation would mostly be while unloading over the beach, but some could be from fires on ships hit previously too.

Agreed, surprising to see the shock attack … his troops weren't in condition to do so, and it really helped you.

Take a small dot base in the Aleutians, and flush a damaged Nevada, promptly sinking her with torpedoes.

The 2nd wave unloads fully at Adak, and an attack will occur shortly.
