The time has come. Moscow and Tokyo seem to have discharged every further diplomatic effort to solve the rising crisis over the Kuril Islands.

Claimed by Japan but occupied buy Russia after the end of the Second World War, these small islands have been turned in a symbol of Nationalism for both the governments.

Now, a strong Russian contingent is being dispatched to strengthen their positions. Will the JSDF attack the convoy and risk an all-out war with its old enemy?

Command LIVE: Kuril Sunrise the ninth instalment in the Command LIVE series, has been released! This new episode explores a scenario in which two powerful Navies must face each other having an impressive array of sea denial weapons.

Which one shall prove to be superior?

Congrats on what looks like it will be another award-winning CMANO LIVE scenario.

I have it installed and ready to go. I will be tackling it tomorrow when I have lots of free time to spend. It looks great!

Really nice scenario Coiler. I played the Japanese and it's interesting to play around the limitations of your force structure.

Interesting scenario, thanks Coiler
starting to play it from Russian side and have one question

in our reality "Sovershennyy" hull number 333 on Russian side is "20380 with Redut" aka 20381

you instead use "Steregushchy" template aka "20380 with Kortik-M", there is only one ship like that, "Steregushchy" in Baltic Fleet

Do you really want to use "Steregushchy" template for "Sovershennyy"? Because this is looks not very realistic.

Nice scenario! Gave it a run from both sides and need to restart them both - nicely balanced!

Great work - thanks.

I was wondering, why in the scenario there are Su-33s stationed in the Kurils, which are used only by Naval Aviation on the Kuznetsov carrier, instead of getting planes, that are actually deployed to the Russian Far East, like Su-35s and Su-34s? Also I have an issue with Russian defensive batteries -- as a side, they don't send away radar data from SAM/radar sites to you (which would be the case, since the emphasis of Soviet/Russian doctrine on GCI) and don't start engaging targets even when hostilities begin with a massive dogfight.

EDIT: Here you cn see 3 Su-35s from 23rd Fighter Regiment redeployed to the Iturup island in the Kurils from Dzemgi airfield. https://bmpd.livejournal.com/3295623.html

In the briefing it says that it's the squadron from Kuznetsov which is currently undergoing refit as otherwise they'd sit around.

I'm currently playing as the Japanese. It looks like the Russian CAP is caught in a feedback loop of trying to go to the tanker, which is somewhere well Northeast of the combat zone (presumably for the MiG-31s I've been facing out of that direction. The problem is, the MiG-29s and Flankers that are from closer bases will fly up there, refuel, fly back to the AO but go to speed and thus burn all their fuel, causing them to go BACK to the tanker. Essentially they stay well away from the combat area. Perhaps editing the mission settings to use the "only use a tanker within 100 nm" setting would be best. I would do it myself but I don't want to spoil or break anything.

Thanks, Coiler Interesting scenario, but Russian forces are too indicative in comparison with real situation. There are no forces at Primorsky Kray (that are several SAMs, radars, fighters and bombers regiments), no radars except SAM's ones (despite Radio-Technical Troops are main source of information for Air Defense Troops), no Long Range Aviation (Russia used long-range Tu-22M and Tu-95 in every foreign conflicts last years).
