1.15 against the AI.

I've got an Italian HQ in NA, two hexes west of El Alamein, which I have taken. I also have held Malta for several turns.

The HQ is currently generating supply 8. But if I move it east, even one hex, or two into El Alamein, the predicted supply for the next turn drops to 5.

Anyone know why?

'Predicted' is just like 'Assuming'
Figure it out yourself, its faster and more accurate !

I read the book and can't find the answer. If supply were disrupted by Malta, I would understand, but it's not. There doesn't seem to be any reason that I can detect.

Usually ressources like towns are damaged after fighting and therefore producing reduced supply. They will recover by 1 point/turn. You'll need 3 supply on the hex of your HQ at min. to provide 8 supply. Just take a look at El Alamein to see how many supply the town produces.

Generally, HQs occupying resources provide significantly higher levels of supply than those outside them, so by moving the HQ out of the resource, its supply giving level will reduce significantly.

So it's often recommended to have the HQ occupy a resource, with your combat forces ahead of it.

I get that. What's odd is that I was in a desert hex (no resource) at 8 and the next desert hex to it was giving me 5. But as for El Alamein, I see that it's been damaged and that accounts for bad supply there.

I've had a couple of further thoughts:

1) Perhaps 2 hexes west of El Alamein was just within range of supply sources further west for it to have a distribution supply value of 8, but further east took it too far away for that.

2) It was receiving supply from a friendly HQ.

The lower supply further east certainly makes sense what with El Alamein being damaged.
