All the essential aircraft for the Battle of Britain, WWII Soviet AND Allied Submarine classes?!

Is this a little preview for something on the horizon!?!?

I hadn't played or checked the forum here in a couple of months. So, when I saw those same weapons loaded, I thought, "Did they produce some WWII scenarios?"

Very exciting!!

The link goes to a file called 998.17, but it is suspiciously like the 998.1_5_ zip file...down to the files.

Bad link?

c3k, when I click on the link in the first post, I see "UpdatePack_B998.17.zip" in the description and also download me the B998.17 version. You can try it once again or try another browser.

Thanks, but that's what I linked to...it is the file inside the link which seems the same as 998.15.

The zipfile reads 998.17, but when extracted, it contains the same as 998.15.

I just double-checked, and the exe inside the zip file is definitely the B998.17 one.

* FIXED: Aircraft RTBing while still guiding BVR missiles

I've tested my previously reported issue using this new build. The aircraft now stay engaged offensive instead of RTBing after the last missile launch. Sadly they crank too far and then do not illuminate the targets with radar causing multiple misses as before :-(

Can you please post a suitable save on the Tech Support forum so that we can investigate this. Thanks!

Thanks.

Import/Export has identical files in Germany, Spain, (the only folders included in the patch).
DB has the same 3 files, xxx_476.db3 and a DBinfo as the 998.15.
Scenarios has the same, single, Chains of War scenario.

The only other file/folder is the Command application (10.449 KB).

FWIW.

(Edited to remove Switzerland, since the 998.17 has it but the 998.15 does not.)

How is this update STILL not out on Steam? The updates used to go out to Steam users really quickly, but lately it seems like we're being forgotten. Sure you can manually install it but the purpose of using Steam for gaming is to have an all in one package where you don't have to worry about going out to install updates on all of your games manually.

Please have a little patience. We are currently testing the Steam package for release.

We actually had a window of opportunity to have this released on Steam just before the holiday break, but the date meant that we would have absolutely no chance to fix or rollback (before the holidays) if a major issue was discovered. Given the absence of a player-initiated "switch to an older version" functionality in Steam, this would have left you with a problematic build for almost 3 weeks. Not a very appealing scenario, yes? So instead we chose to keep it a manual opt-in until now.

Have faith. There is a good reason for every choice we make - even the choices that turn out wrong or unfortunate.

Hello. Copying the files over the game manually worked just fine for the time being :).
By the way, there's a beta/branch functionality in Steam where you could have pushed it as a opt-in update. I'm not a dev so I don't know how it exactly works but maybe you can have a look around and see if it may be useful for the future?

Thanks for working on pushing the update as a regular update on Steam and the newest update of the community pack!

Oh, I almost forgot, I do have a quick question: I've read that Shifting Sands includes the Chains of War features except the futuristic weapons - is that true?

Hi, there is most definitely this type of feature in Steam as I use it in a couple of games I play. You could set it up to include every update that's ever been released for CMANO but of course the previous couple of versions would do fine.

We access it by right clicking on the game and clicking the 'betas' tab then choose the version you want to revert to from the drop down list.

looking forward to the latest update when it arrives.

I wouldn't advise to install a non-steam patch on a steam installation, sure it can work but it can create problems when the steam patch is released and files are synched. For example, it could mess up db files and you'll end up with old files being recognized as the latest ones

The patch is now out both for Matrix and Steam!

We have not yet run an open beta of CMANO on Steam. I think keeping it and its discussion on one platform and one forum can enable the dev team to be quicker in confirming it works as intended, but of course when we anticipate a longer public beta period for an update we can look into releasing it on Steam as a public beta as well.

On the topic of rolling back versions on Steam: that is something developers can setup as beta branches. Usually there is little to no practical usage for it, but when it is justified we do it of course. An example I can remember is Sovereignty where a big change in the engine meant the game's minimum requirements went up a fair bit compared to when people initially bought it. So we have created a pre-update beta branch for those players.

It really shouldn't cause issues and even if it does, that's what the Verify Integrity of Game Files feature is for. Not a big deal.

I wouldn't advise to install a non-steam patch on a steam installation, sure it can work but it can create problems when the steam patch is released and files are synched. For example, it could mess up db files and you'll end up with old files being recognized as the latest ones

It really shouldn't cause issues and even if it does, that's what the Verify Integrity of Game Files feature is for. Not a big deal.

The folder is 12+ GB so verifying the integrity can very well take >1 hour on older machines. Not to mention that the bug I mentioned (older db files being recognized as new due to date error) may require you to delete the files before you run the verification (to download them again), so it's likely you're going to run it twice (one before and one after you realize what the problem is). It will also make tech support more difficult when those patches are explicitly for the Matrix version
