I wouldn’t count the Allies out just yet. Smaug still has weak spots, and he is about to somewhat reveal a new one, no not the now-will-never-be-built Atlantic Wall, but one quite close to his war driving Arkenstone crown jewel hex. Non-traditional Allied lines of play can really drag the Eye of Sauron around to too many places to rail high quality troops to, and the next thing you know, those pesky Cossacks are running around all over the place, Stalin’s clever Left Behind dudes start multiplying like ants, and who knows, the USN could end up sailing a Sea it has never fought in ever before, and the USMC might be able to add some new lines in their song after “the shores of Tripoli”. The Aussies certainly wont want a re-run from last time however. Maybe Tito will come through with some more helpful disruptions now too, as the PART machine starts doubling its random output. Sorry to conflate two different Tolkien-esque villians. The bad guys other weakness is too many different hired mercenary forces. The Westerlings and the Orcs and the remnants of Sarumans lost troops just can’t fight well together, and Patton could destroy any of them with one pearl handled pistol still in his holster. A trick is to sometimes not drive on the capital of the mercenary force that no longer has an air force, making them a perpetual weak spot in the line of Orcs. What would really confuse Mordor is letting him have The Boot back, with all those Nazgul parked there and not enough air missions to move them around much. Patton, though, needs the Warren Tank Plant to really start cranking out the product.
