The Germans are entitled to complain about their luck on that first attack in France. A three? Oh well.

The US finally makes some progress in the Pacific. Truk was not defended well. I like to have at least a corp and an AA gun there, if not more. (The fact that the optional rule allowing the US to use two special TRS to turn minor ports into medium sized one is not coded makes major ports in the Pacific very important.)

Guderian, meet the Bazooka. Probably the US Army’s most epic battle of this war. Oh, and look, the Yanks gave Monty a bunch of Fireflys. Here they come!

Meanwhile, Rommel ... Wo ist Rommel? Rommel ist ger-fuct.

Rommel, who has just been named commander of the newly structured army group north, is in a bit of trouble.

The former army group center/north has been split into Army Group North, commanded by Rommel, and Army Group Center, commanded by von Rundstedt.

It wasn't until after the Red Army and infiltrated German lines and cut supply to the bulk of what is now known as Army Group North that General Rommel was both promoted to Field Marshall and given command of the army group.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #3.

Actions. Germany - land, Italy - land, Japan - land.

Turn of securing or securing supply lines for all three axis powers. Well, really four if one counts a hostile Vichy.

No air, land or sea combat this impulse by either side anywhere.

Japan. China.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #3.

Euro-Axis. Southern France. Italy. von Bock, who was commander of the static Italian front, was shipped (i.e., railed) along with his HQ-I to Southern France to assume command of the disaster there and try to restore order and flow of supplies.

Also, to the west, northeast of Toulouse and under the Italian IV infantry is General Badoglio and his HQ-I. He was also brought in to the front lines to assist General von Bock in controlling and commanding Army Group West.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #3.

Euro-Axis. Middle East. Stability and supply are the two watchwords in this theater. Also, near Baku notice the absence of Field Marshall Manstein and the armies under his command, with the exception of a small holding force directly west of Baku.

Just a couple more hexes and the little horse villages in the Pripyet will be back in range of TB-3 re-supply. Genghis Jr x27 is ready to ride...don’t forget to let him lead the assault on Vienna when the time comes...family business to complete...

Those Heroes of the Soviet Union holed up in Sevastopol are ready to slip their wardens too...

You must be clairvoyant! Check out the situation below from the just completed allied impulse. Only the weather kept the Mongolian cavalry corps from being resupplied by the air.

Actually, I learned this from you a while back, maybe 2 years or so, from one of your posts discussing strategy and have always wanted to try it.

That's the plan, when the time is right of course, just like their "Heroes of the Soviet Union" comrades that held Stalingrad for well over a year and a half!

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Allied #6.

Actions. USA - land, Great Britain - land, Free France - combine, China - land, USSR - land.

The Western Allies against Vichy France thought they had a good opportunity to blitz the Vichies, exploit and take an unoccupied Toulouse. However, the weather made the odds and the chance of a breakthrough way too low to try.

In the Soviet Union, the Red Army also thought they'd had one or two good opportunities for blitz/assault attacks. Again, the odds were just too low given the weather and the threat of Luftwaffe ground support in the south where the weather is snow.

So, similar to their axis enemy, this impulse for the allies was one of maneuver.

Southern China. Nationalist Chinese.

Weather. The horrible winter weather worsens. Just don't see much, if any, combat operations happening with this weather.

Since the convoy in the Black Sea is so important to the Germans, they should consider building a CP, and put it in Rumania, so that they have a replacement available if needed.

They have a replacement. Turkey has 1. But I probably did a bad thing. Germany just took a naval and sailed that CP out into the 0-box of the Black Sea along with a Turkish Cruiser in the 4-box.

Turn 26. Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #9.

Action. Germany. Germany does something totally out of character and takes a naval. As the German player I struggle a bit with this decision which is ceding possibly two land impulse to the Soviets to do this. In the end I made the decision based on what, as the US & CW players I would want the German player NOT to do. That is, take a naval and attack my convoys and also attack my lone battleship in the North Sea.

Action. Italy. With Germany/Vichy not being able to move any land units, Italy takes a land to ensure that that Toulouse is covered (i.e., garrisoned by a unit). Also, the fact that Italy has no naval or air units really makes the decision of which action to take academic.

Action. Japan. Japan takes a combine in order to replace as many lost CP's in the South China Sea as possible. This time though, they have a fighter wing in position to fly to (i.e., react to) the 0-box and provide some fighter support to the NAV working there.

IJN. Bismarck Sea.
