Like the rest of the internet, traffic is driven by content creation (and the quality thereof).

I'm heartened by the knowledge that there are multiple AARs which are active at any given time, scenarios are still being created and updated, new artwork is being introduced, and utilities for the game are still maintained and written. Content creation is alive and well on these forums. About the only thing which is less than ideal is we no longer have the means to modify source code, but we're making due even with that hindrance.

Unless there is enough of an economic benefit, I don't see any more changes to the source code. That said, a new version incorporating some new things as well as updated coding to work in Windows 10 could possibly happen if there is enough demand for said product. Think of all of the updates and help that has been done with no additional financial rewards other than possibly spurring new sales.

I agree - I'm not holding my breath on further source code updates nor faulting anyone for their cessation. It is what it is. I'm just stating the fact that even without source code access, we're doing quite a bit as a community to keep the game's development alive.

The only way I can think of to possibly get further source code development is to have a crowd funding campaign which specifies certain specific changes for a given goal. Even then, that's assuming funding is the only barrier to development, which it most likely is not.

I think a number of us old-timers took a only-slightly-joking pledge to resurrect WITP III when we won the lottery. I think "Mega Millions" is up to $478MM this week. That should suffice.
