US puts a chit in the Ge/It pool.

Looking with increasing alarm at the situation in Europe and China, the US Congress are shocked when they get the latest assessment on how well the economy is prepared for war. A bill is immediately passed to gear up production. The news doesn't go well in Germany and Italy (7 rolled, chit moved to the Ge/It tension pool).

Ordinarily I am quick to resign a game -- probably too quick. This game, however, deserves to be continued simply for the sheer horror of the Axis position in France. Resigning it would leave open the question: How bad can it get?

By the way, the US Gear-up this turn was expected. The US still has no chance for attempting to declare war in 1941, a small chance J/F '42, a decent chance M/A, and a pretty good chance M/J. The Axis could delay this a turn by not taking Paris. (Somehow, this last does not seem like a good strategy!)

Expect to see Fleet to Pearl this turn, and whatever the Americans can come up with against Ge/It. They have to move six points of tension, minus whatever they got over from Gear up. This could be two chits; on the other hand, it could go one, one, zero, one, .... I have seen both.

All pass for a 30% chance to end the turn.

On a 3 it does.

What would the Axis like to do?

Cry....

This response had me rolling.

Stay at Sea/RTB

CW keeps various escorts out in the Atlantic and Med. Escorts RTB'ing go back to Liverpool, Gib' or Alex'. The CV/BB TF in the North Sea returns to Plymouth. TRANS in Biscay returns to Plymouth. Dutch TRANS in Red Sea returns to Djibouti.

US subs return to Midway. Bearne returns to San Diego.

Use Oil

I reorganise two of the faster BB's for Japan - Haruna and Kirishima. Since the Japanese still have 0.05 they could spend after reorganising the Nell, I reorganise the CA Takao. Hope this is okay? Alternative would be a CP or one of the other CA/CL's.

CW reorgs all for 3 points exactly.

France reorgs all bar 3 CA/CL's (1.45), spending the oil at St. Nazaire.

US reorgs all (0.55) spending an oil.

No breakdowns by the Allies.

CW and France scrap the fighters destroyed in the turn.

Production

Only 1 CVP-0 showed for Japan.

China 5
MTN

CW 23
TERR x3
ARM
LND-3
FTR-2
Pilot x2
CP x2

France 6
2 pilots retrained.
INF x2
FTR-2

US 20
CV 1st x2
TRANS 1st x2
INF HQ
CVP-1
Pilot
ARM Div

USSR 14
MTN
ARM
FTR-2
Pilot

Reinforcements

CW
TERR to Rhodesia
Sunderland to Hull
MAR to Liverpool.
ART Southampton
TERR Dacca
TERR Jaffa

France
MIL SW of Paris
INF Bordeaux.

US
Hornet to San Diego

USSR
GARR to Archangel and Vitebsk.
INF Div to Minsk
2 x FTR-2 to Kiev.
INF HQ to Minsk.
CAV to Yenan.

CW modifies its trade agreement with France back to 1 oil as the second couldn't be delivered from this turn.

France ends its trade to CW.

Initiative: Axis 9, Allies 3. With no re-rolls, the Axis get their wish to go first.

The French get very lucky with the weather.

No DoW or alignments.

Land: France, China.
Combined: The rest.

US sails 3 BB's to Hawaiian Is. 1-box.

CW TRANS loads INF at Plymouth and sails to Biscay 3-box. Queens sail to Red Sea-0-box and load Bombay MIL from Djibouti.

Communist CAV moves a hex east from Yenan.

USSR moves some forces in the north.

In France, CW moves an INF back to Bayonne, whilst Gort moves a hex NE.

The odds in France are 62:16 (3:1) (probably +5 (2 x disorganised and 3 x ARM). There may be something for the Para too.

Do the French want to bring in the Notional?
