Throws were 3, 10 and 3 and so 3 points are taken from the long range stuka.

Rail Movement: None
Land Movement:
Japan

Japan use their 3 moves to re-position forces in China slightly

Germany

The Germans move on Paris

Italy

The Italians support the move on Paris

Land Combat:
Germany

Just one attack declared against Paris. The odds are (81:20) 4:1 (probably +2 as Paris has 3 factories). The Germans bring in 5 bombers worth 19 points. The French have a 5-factor fighter they can fly. The potential Axis interceptors are as shown. What do the French want to do?

Ground Support (Air to Air combat subphase)

Round 1:

Allied - 5 (AA) - The French have to decide whether to abort the German front fighter or bomber. I assume the bomber as this reduces the odds.
Axis - 9 (No Effect)

Round 2:

Allied - 12 (AC) - The French clear through a 3-quality He-111
Axis - 8 (AA) - The French fighter is aborted. I put it in Vichy as it can't reach further south.

Land Combat:
Germany

So the odds (before fractionals) ended up at 4:1+2. The fractionals fail (a 960 is thrown). A 10(12) is thrown to end resistance in Paris.

M/J 42 Allies 3

Land: CW, France, China.
Combine: The rest.

US moves TRANS with GARR from Christmas Is to Dutch Harbour. CL takes INF Div from San Diego to Hawaiian Is 3-box. TRANS with F6F sails from West Coast to Pearl.

The RAF sends its planes at Khartoum to ground strike Italian Infantry on the Ethiopian border. However, finding the troops amongst the mountains proves to be a challenge.

The Hampdens return to Khartoum but the Blenheims fly on to Addis Ababa.

CW rails MIL from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.

USSR moves a couple of units in the north and south respectively, while the Communist CAV Div moves back towards friendly troops, becoming disorganised in the process.

The Chinese make a couple of minor moves.

CW finds Eritrea TERR's attempts to advance into Ethiopia blocked by lack of Generals, so it returns to Asmara to await further deployment. Ethiopian forces move west from Addis Ababa. INF and MAR join the forces besieging Tripoli. TERR moves NE from Kuala Lumpur. ARM moves from Southampton to Bristol.

French forces advance NE from the Garonne.

US disembarks INF Div to Midway. CW disembarks INF to Kuala Lumpur.

France declares two land combats on a MIL to the south of Strasbourg and Metz and an Italian MOT south of the Loire. CW attacks Tripoli and ships in East and West Med add 14 points of shore bombardment.

The French NAV joins the attack on the Italians.

Both French attacks are currently 4:1. The Germans have a number of aircraft that could join in ...

Is there any penalty if Germans aircraft (fighters and/or bombers) fly in defence of the MOT? I believe in attack a German Ground Support would be a problem but is that true in defence? Same point if I used a German fighter to attack the French NAV.

To the best of my knowledge, no. Allied combat friction applies to attack, not defence. If this turns out not to be the case, I will be happy to re-run the combats using the same dice rolls but with any air not from the attacked nation excluded.

Okay I that is my understanding too. So The Ju-87R flies with the Bf109E-1 (both north of von vonny Rundstedt). Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Z1007 flies in defence of the MIL.

The Italian bomber lands southwest of Paris. The fighter (if it survives) lands whence it came and the Ju-87R (if it survives) lands in (56,27).

Can't get the Italian bomber in SW of Paris. It's either Paris, 2 hexes east of Paris, 2 hexes SE of Paris.

Sorry mate, its the Ju-87R north of Rundstedt - not the 87D. I only needed 4 points. Sorry if that was unclear.

Can you confirm why there is a +1 on the Italian please? Blitz table in Alsace-Lorraine.

I think the French MECH gives + 0.5 (rounded to +1) on a Blitz attack.

On this basis, the French go for blitz.

The effort fails.

Next up, Tripoli which has to be Assault or an automatic.

This doesn't go particularly well either but the Shatter will be converted to Retreat as there is no retreat path.

The fractional is made but unfortunately for the French this proves more beneficial to the Germans.
