I'm still feeling somewhat less than fighting fit as I'm struggling to fight off a chest infection. But am conscious I need to get the two games with AllenK and Mayhemizer back under way. Although it's the other game I should be doing next, I am going to get this impulse done first for the simple reason I don't have to think so much! I will then turn my attention to the game with Mayhemizer in the week or next weekend depending on how effective these antibiotics prove to be....

Not much movement to do. A couple of moves are made in Manchuria and a MECH in China heads for the coast.

Germany

Armoured forces cross the Garonne, while other units gather on Rouen, Strasbourg and the Massif Central.

Italy

Italian state radio "The Mamma Mia of all Battles" hails Italian motorised troops storming La Rochelle.

Land Combat:
Germany

Three attacks are announced - Rouen, Strasbourg and in the mountains. Attacking HQ Support is attempted by von Rundstedt. No aircraft are called in.

HQ Support succeeds (a 1 is thrown) and leaves the odds as shown (there is a +1 in the mountains and Strasbourg and a +2 in Rouen. I think retreat paths are available for Strasbourg and Rouen so do the French wish for Assault or Blitzkrieg?

Land Combat:
Germany and Italy

The attacks are:
Rouen - the fractionals work (60 is thrown) increasing the odds to 5:1. A 3(5) is thrown, the French suffer no losses but are Shattered and I don't convert to retreat. This allows my tanks to move into Le Havre and destroy the fighter.

The Mountains - the fractionals fail (293 is thrown). I notice I included the Italian in the attack - what a muppet. There are no modifiers but the throw of 4 is enough to remove the MTN corps.

Strasbourg - the fractionals fail (770 is thrown) but a 10(11) is rolled to remove the French infantry.

The odds at Bordeaux are 7:1 - I assume HQ defensive support will be attempted as there is no real reason not to.

An 8 is thrown and the attempt fails. No aircraft are brought in, leaving the odds as follows:

I take in the order presented by the program. There is no retreat path so assault is chosen for each - Bordeaux is 7:1 anyway so Assault.

For Vichy the Fractionals fail (784 thrown) and a land throw of 1(3) is thrown. The French lose a unit but all Germans are disorganised.

At Bordeaux the Fractionals fail (509) thrown and a land throw of 8 sees the HQ destroyed and two oil captured.

Garrisons tested in France, Yugoslavia and Indo-China but were able to quell all dissent.

USSR placed chit in offence and moved one from defence to offence.

US placed one chit in Ge/It and one in Ja. Congress gave the go-ahead to build strategic bombers. Tension with the Japanese rose (chit into the Ja tension pool after 5 rolled).
