So recently I've been doing some research and writing articles to a couple defense journals about the current situation in Ukraine and the Baltic States in regards to Russian aggression. I'm looking at making a series of scenarios that follows both hybrid warfare in the Baltic region as well as what would happen if a higher level of Russian involvement was pursued (i.e. conventional warfare and such). I just wanted to feel out the community and see if there is actually any sort of interest in this idea!

Yes, Russian aggression is especially, ultimate high in Baltic region. Every morning thousand of Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians with a fear read a news - are their states as long as independent? Absolutely! I think its one of the more interesting possible flashpoints in the world, and it plays well too. It's sort of the opposite problem from the Western Pacific, where everything has to go a long way. In the Baltic, everything is immediately in range of everything else, which makes for some pretty fast, exciting, and brutal scenarios. I built two scenarios already dealing with a hypothetical conflict in the Baltic and Poland. The one focuses on the problem of defending Poland, but similar problems exist in the Baltic States. The other involves a gorilla strike on strategic SAMs and C3 facilities. I've also added some .inst files for airbases and other facilities that have been identified in the public domain.

I've had some other scenarios in my mind as well but haven't gotten to them yet. I want to do, for example, a CAS scenario involving lots of helicopters, an air assault scenario, an amphibious assault scenario (maybe those two will be one scenario?), air interdiction scenarios, convoy scenarios, the list goes on and on. In some ways, the scenarios parallel a lot of the old Cold War scenarios with minor changes like swapping out FFGs for LCS, but I think they're more manageable in some ways because they might involve fewer platforms.

Being Finnish myself, I'd really enjoy well-studied scenarios in Baltic area.

In particular, I'd consider the following scenario. Let it be like 2025. Vladimir has retired to the background, but his followup is not at all willing to tone down the aggressive foreign policy near the Russian borders. Quite the opposite indeed. Due to...some reasons, NATO presence is increased in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Russia answers by further digging in in Kaliningrad, including by setting up some area denial means. Belarus remains a question mark, but so far it can be assumed that the Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania can be cut off in mere days. To further complicate matters, signs of low intensity hybrid warfare are already noted in Poland. Because of all this, NATO actively assumes readiness to sea control measures to secure the supply route via sea. At the same time, the president Niinist� has ended his second term in Finland by 2024. He's known for his maintaining of good relations and communication with Russia, but let's assume that the change in presidency in Russia has combined with government that strongly supports NATO membership in Finland, and the new president is known for wanting to play out that card. Due to new, higher levels of NATO partnership cooperation (including allowing for NATO directly supplying Tallinn from nearby Helsinki via sea), Russia openly questions Finland's neutrality in the situation. It is feared that the commercial shipping, which plays a big part in aforementioned supply logistics, is targeted by Russia in an attempt to...discourage this NATO cooperation while not directly attacking a current member of the NATO (which Finland still is not).

From there, the first scenario starts...

Scenario #1 (Involves exercise Trojan Footprint 20) has already been in the works for a while now, but ill try and get it out as fast as I can.The Air Force is keeping me busy these next three months but ill find some time to work on this!

I don't want to spoil too much of the background of this series, but essentially it takes place in the year 2020, so not much has changed. Obviously, if we're talking about realism here, the chances of a full on assault of the Baltic States by Russia is very very small. Instead, hybrid warfare (such as some of the tactics we saw in Ukraine) would be more predictable. This scenario set will jump into this with political, cyber, economic, and unconventional warfare as it is most likely what we will see in the future (and have seen in recent years!).

That being said, hybrid warfare alone doesn't make for the most exciting scenarios. So in order to counter this, the first batch of scenarios will focus on more of an unconventional hybrid warfare approach with possibly the ethnic Russian populations in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania trying to break off with the support of Russia. This is similar to what we've seen in Ukraine and Crimea, so there is a big possibility something similar can happen in the Baltics. However, from here, *SPOILER* the situation will expand into a much larger conflict. Even if this is fairly unlikely, it is important to still look at how everything would go down if the worst-case-scenario unfolded. Plus it makes for some very very interesting, large scenarios with a much longer campaign!

I know I haven't really delved into the background and how all of this leads up, but that's on purpose. I'd rather take the time to craft a very accurate, well thought out back story rather than give you guys some BS "Oh Russia and NATO and WWIII and Nukes and BLAH". I want this to be a quality scenario set that actually portrays what we could see in the near future and helps people get familiar to what a conflict could look like. So if this stuff takes a while, I'm sorry in advance, but I'd rather produce something you guys genuinely enjoy and can get behind rather than just some random scenarios!

Hello.
The topic is very interesting.
I hope that you will take into account the real forces during the planned activities. I am particularly interested in the participation of the largest players in the theater: Poland, Germany, Denmark, the Baltic States and of course the USA.
I hope for a quick realization.
