I posted this on Tuesday in another thread, but with Game 5 tonight, I wanted everyone to know where my focus is right now. What a Game 4!

A Great example of the Intensity of North American Hockey. It’s almost the only professional sport where players compete almost exclusively for the Pride, Honour and Glory of having their name inscribed below the greats that inspired them. They gladly assume the mantle and title of ‘Role Model’ to inspire all those that follow.

When you take on a game with a well respected member of the forum you feel you can expect a certain level of courtesy. How many games have ended early because of a minor disagreement or misunderstanding? An AAR is meant to instruct and inform so that is my intention so that others may learn from events and maybe avoid these same mistakes.

Zorch – Shutup you gladly throw gasoline on the fire
When people have no information about a volatile situation don’t show your ignorance of the details and make it worse

Post #81 on my opponents thread is a very strong statement to deny the larger audience insights into the mod. That’s how I know my opponents gender, a very public hissy fit because their expectations were slightly dented. In the corporate world that kind of back stabbing reputation follows you through your whole career with that company.

So I will post the last email I sent to my opponent and rather than responding with an email chose to go public with this matter in post # 81 :

“Oh and talk to your friends and tell them to temper their enthusiasm!”

I believe that includes policing their AAR.

So I am a direct person, and maybe a bit rude, but then to turn around and go public, after one week, with someone new to the AAR world. This is how the community greets me. I was right to let my non-gaming friends look in!

So everyone can learn from my frustrations I think it's only fair that we keep this dialogue public. We have an attachment only correspondence. I have received an email from my opponent and I think its only fair that BillBrown show how a Matrix Elite Guard resolves a situation like this. I have deleted the note.

If my opponent chooses to go public than let everyone see how forum professionals handle this situation. I need to have some sort of confidence that a hissy fit won’t be a regular occurrence, and I don’t have to put up with thoughtless, apparently well respected, twits.

I hope you continue with your AAR and some others, though well meaning, don't try to influence your decision making. I am following both sides of this as it is very educational to see how opposites see the conflict as it unfolds. It is actually something you don't get during actual conflicts. Nothing wrong with being direct but, as I always told my soldier, never type angry because once you hit send you can't bring it back, or in other words you can't unring a bell. Good luck , I hope you work through whatever the issues are.

Hey guys really appreciate that. See, there are adults in the room. Sorry Zorch, but sometimes someone has to be made an example of, you went public. Could have been anyone

I only use original source material. This forum prides itself on getting it historically accurate.

I can’t do this AAR without my friends input. It’s called teamwork you finger waving twit.
(And the name of this video is very related to this game, We can't make this up, historical accuracy is much better!!)

What is also clear about this post is the position this person had in the military; I am supposed to listen to a REMF?

Location: Lolo National Forest

“The Destroyers” as they now call themselves have started calling me Fleet Commander BBA. One of them salutes me and they are going to get hurt. They said as long as you are waiting for the forum to help you out with mod concerns why don’t you tell them about what makes this country great and some of the many reasons its truly worth the sacrifices we all make for it, even if it’s just the taxes we pay.

When you drive 140 miles though the forest its called a 'cyclist’s dream that hates hills', its virtually all steady gradient. Going along highway 12 you get to pull over anywhere, sit by the river, fish (catch and release, by law) you are almost alone in a Huge Wilderness. A gorgeous road easily following the river, steady, 1 -2 % grade uphill to the center and then down just as easily. Hike into virgin woodland. There are a few unique tree species found only in that forest, along with hundreds of other different North American tree varieties.

Lolo Natl Forest

We chose this image because it’s gorgeous. Wait, put your Bletchley park hat on. It’s a little bit disorienting moving to a place that is always green; there’s no leaves to fall with the season and its actually snowing out today, at 7500’. As you look into the distance, the hilltops are not green. You can see a small forest in the cut below the high peak in the middle in the distance. They were burned by wildfires 20 years or more ago and the intensity of the blaze scorched the soil so that this may still look like this in 100 years. The cities of Europe and Japan recovered in a fraction of the time. Our Democracy has come to the point that disaster funding is routinely considered fair game for Political Gamesmanship.

Actually, let me put this in a way they will understand. Over 100 jobs were lost, with these woodlands, and federal revenue has been lost, through the selective cutting program. Several individuals have died, in logging accidents and in fire fighting prevention efforts. It’s dangerous work and those on the front lines desperately need a little more organization and long range planning from inside the Beltway!

Update

I have posted on the lead developers thread and my opponents thread to get help with changes to the mod. So while that is going on I would like to bring up a few teaching points. This is simply what is happening on my AAR.

In post #33 above I really do not understand why the writer would say so much? Was that necessary? It’s what every person that uses this forum reads all the time. If you don’t have a few stars in your title you have no cred.

I include post #33 here so that future readers will understand.

Forum Cred

If you look at post #3 above that is how you get cred in the Forum system. Oddly enough it’s the same individual. I get the feeling that the system encourages a lot of inane posting simply to get cred.

Post #48 Scen 78 Mod Thread

quote:

ORIGINAL: BillBrown

These are the only two house rules we have:
House rules:
No 4 engine Naval Attack
No 4 engine ground attack into hex with friendly troops

Which one do you want to change? I take it you want to change the second one to no 4 engine ground attacks at all.

We are 8 turns into the game and you want to change house rules? You won't send me a turn, or answer my emails, I think our game is done.
A lack of communication is very bad form.

That is sad, but I agree. Once the game is started, the HR's stay as is....GP

This is the conversation of two people who know each other very well. Its disengenuous for my opponent to say they are not reading my forum when I am posting on the Mod page. Btd64 is the lead developer for scenario 78, I would hope he would show enough interest to read my AAR.

How come he never said to BillBrown your opponent is not happy? Your opponent is using words like hissy fit and backstabbing?

BillBrown is one of the 10 most respected contributors on the forum and no one would say to this person you’re opponent is not happy?

This is really sad

What is also interesting about this persons post is that he copied BillBrowns post from the previous post. Was that necessary?

This is an example of some twit, with a bunch of stars, talking down to someone in an open forum.

How stupid is that?

Update

I like the mod and the possibilities and feel I can recommend some changes or at least throw out some idea’s that can be used down the road. I still have some more info from the AAR that might be of interest, but I will not reveal anything (much) about the details of the IJ position, so the game can be continued.

The biggest question I get is what is the strength of the KB? After almost daily sweeps, only two PH air strikes this is what it looks like.

Zuikaku 34 kt 79/90 41z 11v 27k
Shokaku 34 kt 79 / 90 -11z
Hiryu 34 kt 75/81 -6z
Soryu 34 kt 64/90 -16v -10z

I created a fast TF after a few days and transferred fighters to the Zuikaku. . There are no planes in reserve, and each ship has a little over 200 sorties still available. KB is good to go for a few more days of sweeps (maybe).
The KB2 I created sailed to support landings at Midway. It almost cost me, because my cousin Vinny from Midway, got through the Cap easily. With the skills and experience levels of the americans at the beginning you can take a few chances. With more ships you won’t miss a few in the yards for a couple of months. With the strength of the British forces any ventures into the IO are going to be like wading through Battleships. : ) BB for Breakfast baby : the IJ lineup is really good, 13BB, 6 fast BC. Good enough?????

Pearl Harbor,

In six days I had contact for four. After the surface ships the planes and in particular the old models and the PBYs are the targets. There are four less DDs(26) in PH than in stock. The KB has a couple of more BBs and if the first day goes good I would like to force a surface engagement. I formed a BB TF on day two six hexes away from PH, and all the Kates on nav attack. You try and provoke a reaction somehow, because day two AF strike went badly with no sweeps and bad weather. Nothing really, except on day 4 a TF came out in the direction of Kona met a sub in deep water and returned safely. I had subs in every harbor and no movement. Oh ya, with all those subs around PH you really try and create a tight blockade. My opponent didn't fly the PBY's much so no luck with losses with Cap contacts. I don’t think I will be able to do another port strike, 16z on a few CV, it will be painful, but still might cause a lot of damage, to ships and planes, it is still a strong strike by 4 CV.

In this mod I don’t feel the KB needs to go west of Rabaul, so you have more linger time. It’s a good way to use it while your forces move from the HI outwards. KB2 is meeting elements of 2nd Division (Sendai) for a landing on Midway in the next few days.

The door is open then to anything. : ))

My friends who know history but not the game, reviewed my plan (we had money on the line) and said "your...

Collateral Damage

So there has been a little collateral damage on my side. I was playing Scen. 46, a really big JuanG variant. Wouldn’t you know it he was a developer. Really cool game, that I picked up in 10/42 and made it to 2/43. With a big Mod you can do a lot more counter punching. If he pushes at Noumea, I send light forces to occupy an unoccupied Aleutions and send a div to siege Perth. He sends waves of Bombers from Sydney pushing me north back to Brisbane. I don’t want to talk about Burma because I am grinding closer to eliminating a few Indian div.s against waves of planes from India. (That’s how I know so much about flak and ammo usage). And I have the Mike, an Me 109 variant, that I can only describe as a Japanese Lightning. I am on the third generation : ))) WOW!!!

It’s a really great game to jump into for an IJ player. You’ve had all your ’43 a/c for months, so every carrier is loaded. You’ve taken all the rezised old plane squadrons and made 90 plane training squadrons, and divided your 90 plane front line squadrons so you have a 30 unit standing by, as land cap and carrier reinforcements.

Of course I gave him the password, it’s a good one : )

DDD

So I have upset another developer. Well ‘The Masked Destroyers’ wanted to look into my situation a little closer. They noticed the two developers on the Scenario 78 mod sort of follow each other around. So they called them the dynamic duo. And then they started adding a lot of D words in front of that. I chose Dev.

This is in no way related to this situation or anyone at all. But its just really ******* stupid, but really funny. Anyone who has served in the US, and only the US military, can actually say “I served with these guys”. It’s funny but, it’s like that’s part of the glue that has bound our Army together through the 20th and 21st centuries. It crosses the generations very easily and the public never heard about it until Vietnam, when the Army began to question the war.

I can only vouch for the 8:20 to 11:00 stretch, Army Humor

The Dynamic Duo is Back!

It reminds my of the first time I heard the word MF. Because I heard it from a person who told me about the first time he heard it. Late in WW2 he was an Army recruit shipping overseas going oversea's walking up the gangplank.

You can guess the color of the soldiers working beside that gangplank : ) And he was a tough, Irish street kid from Queens.

Here's to you "Mac"

What a Game 6. For a team to be in last place almost half way into the season, to now be this close to Permanent Glory. We thought last year's Vegas story was great! Wow!

The starting defenseman for the Bruins the whole series is this 21 yr. old, Charlie McAvoy. He's from my home town. What's really cool is he was born 4 yrs after I got married. Kind of cool to think my kid could have played high school hockey with him and could very well be battling for the cup. Well I mean, if I had a girl, of course she would be in the top ranks of the NWHL or CWHL north of the border. If the networks ever considered this professional sport, reality TV, it might actually get a wider audience. I call that corporate discrimination.

So for a gritty tough game 6 Boston Bruins

Final Update

Well I am not going to devote any more time to this project. I am just shocked that a total stranger expected me to play a game for years but won't spend 10 minutes to make me go away.
But what's really stupid is this:

"Good luck and to answer your question of how one becomes and Matrix Elite Guard in the Forum is by making a lot of comments in the forum. However if you beat him you can brag how you won over an Matrix Elite Guard."

bif1961 Post #3 of my AAR

It shows EXACTLY what a bubble some people live in. Why would I want that over a perfect stranger in the Mtn TZ?

I have skin in the game, MONEY, in case you don't get it, so no one was going to say a thing about my Opponents moves. Thanks to everyone for ruining my experience.

Nothing else to say, but my big takeaway is THESE GUYS!!! WOW!!!

Reel Big Fish

She called me late last night, to say she loved me so
It didn't matter anymore,
I say she never cared
And that she never will,
I'd do it all again
I guess I'll have to wait until then

[chorus]
And if i get drunk well, I'll pass out
On the floor now baby
You won't bother me no more
And if you're drinkin' well, you know
That you're my friend and I say
I think I'll have myself a beer

[verse]
She called me late last night, to say she loved me so
but I guess he changed her mind.
Well I should have known, it wouldn't be all right,
but I can't live without her
So I won't even try...

[chorus]
And if I get drunk well, I'll pass out
On the floor now baby
You won't bother me no more
And if you're drinkin' well, you know
That you're my friend and I say
I think I'll have myself a beer

[interlude]

Maybe some day, I'll think of what to say
Maybe next time I'll remember what to do
She looks like heaven, maybe this is hell
Said she'd do it all again, she'd promise not to tell!

[chorus]
And if I get drunk well, I'll pass out
On the floor now baby
You won't bother me no more
she said,
it's okay boy cause you know
we'll be good friends and I say
I think I'll have myself a beer
I think I'll have myself a beer

Woohoo etc
yeah yeah yeah
woohoohoo

The only thing to do is.....

You know needless to say everything is getting out of hand. Another Dev, Throws Another very public Hissy Fit. But let's amp this one up a bit. He didn't even read my AAR.

It's not fun anymore. Not for me, I only retired a month ago.

Whenever something happens like this there is always a meeting...
The water cooler talk is not so nice...
The coffee does not taste so good first thing, and that tells you what kind of day it's going to be (except in the Army)

The last thing I ever thought would happen is that I would cause those guys to work any harder.

My friend calls me up and says you better get home and take care of something. She saw Alfred go into Mr. G's thread, saw my reply and then saw him go back in again.

That's already too much time wasted.

So from here on I am going to do my best not to cause them any further interruptions.

However, I well respond to Mr.G.s note when I get around to it. But I would appreciate it if they removed the offending post and locked him from the system. It will be easier for me to respond to the thread as is.

A game 7 in any sport is exciting to watch. But what is really interesting is what people who don’t get paid to talk about the game or ever played the game say about the game they are watching.

Interview with Charles Barkley between first and second periods.

Announcer: …You picked the Blues In this series

CB I always root for the team that never won a championship. I’m on that list of great players who never won a championship, St Louis never won the cup, I never root against people I only root for people, I’m rooting for the Blues to win the series….

CB …I didn’t realize they were in last place in January, they insert a rookie goalie. It’s been a great run..

Announcer, Mike Milbury: So how did you see the first period?

CB … It was all about the goalie, heee stole the show, ya know, I was talking to Commissioner Bettman, thank you for the tickets, they should have been up 2, 3 zip maybe, the goalie was the difference in the first period, St. Louis got a goal in the last five minutes, but the first period was all about the goalie

I would rather not muck up my AAR but I would like to express myself with Lyrics

Ball and Biscuit

The White Stripes

It's quite possible that I'm your third man girl
But it's a fact that I'm the seventh son
And right now you could care less about me
But soon enough you will care, by the time I'm done
Let's have a ball and a biscuit sugar
And take our sweet little time about it
Let's have a ball girl
And take our sweet little time about it
Tell everyone in the place just to get out
We'll get clean together
And I'll find a soapbox where I can shout it
You read it in the newspaper
Ask your girlfriends and see if they know
That my strength is ten fold girl
And I'll let you see if you want to before you go
It's quite possible that I'm your third man
But it's a fact that I'm the seventh son
It was the other two which/was made me your third
But it was my mother who made me the seventh son
And right now you could care less about me
But soon enough you will care by the time I'm done
