Build 1009.31.1 Release Notes
-----------------------------------------

* Major overhaul of MAD sensor modelling:
-- MADs are no longer precision sensors, they have bearing ambiguity and absolutely no range estimate (the range estimate is essentially "anywhere from right in front of us up to max sensor range")
-- The practical MAD detection range is affected by the displacement ratio (target displacement vs max reference figure) and under-keel depth (shallow is worse, because of the bottom background)
-- MAD scan rates have been increased (only in DB3000 v478+, see below). This rewards faster sensor platforms (e.g. P-8 vs P-3 vs helicopter) as they are able to cover more distance per given time and thus refine the contact position through triangulation faster.

* UI ADDED: #12935: Mission Editor strike targets list - You can now move targets up/down by 5 or 10 increments by holding the Ctrl or Shift key while clicking on the up/down buttons.
* UI addition on "Scenario Migration" window: manually select multiple scenario files to batch-rebuild (no longer necessary to use an .ini file)
* Added ScenEdit function: Remove all contacts of current side (Editor --> Remove all contacts)
* Improved logic for aircraft dropping below cloud ceiling to drop LGBs. Also adjusted cloud ceiling slack to 10m to prevent potential "yo-yoing" above and below ceiling.
* ADDED: A "Browse" button on the "Load Scenario" window. This allows loading a scen/save file from anywhere in the filesystem.
* ADDED: "Special Actions" window UI addition: Checkbox to control action pop-ups (ON by default). If this checkbox is cleared, no pop-ups will show when executing a special action.

* FIXED: #12764: Use patrol 'contact within weapon range' constraint
* FIXED: #12763: Patrol - too many flights going after unknowns
* FIXED: Issue in contact resolution & exchange between allies
* FIXED: Trying to engage target without WRA check
* FIXED: Removed targets that are not in the Strike Pre-plan list
* FIXED: Damaged trigger firing twice in some cases
* FIXED: Retain mission strike target list order
* FIXED: #12935: Mission Editor strike targets list - don't push down target if it's the last indexed item
* TWEAK: #12939: Cater for component damage in 'damaged' event
* FIXED: Add check on mission wake up for start time if set regardless of status
* TWEAK: #12837: suppress non-moving facility data blocks
* FIXED: #12857: Land units not following course
* FIXED: #12923: units not using mission settings on Cargo mission
* ADDED: #12870: Track autodetect in "recent detections" list
* FIXED: #12669: Check for min strike planes
* FIXED: #12576 Fix ship/sub ferry speed/depth
* FIXED: #12909: Restored missing sendor details on 'Detected by'
* FIXED: #12910: DB viewer crash or incorrect list
* FIXED: "Load scenario" window may be misplaced in high-DPI desktop
* FIXED: "Start Game" window may be shown off-screen because of stored position/dimension information
* FIXED: #12897 Ships docked in non-home bases would jump to home base
* FIXED: Restore cycle ferry flag for ship ferry mission
* FIXED: Finnish language uses "." instead of ":" to delimit time. "00.05.00" instead of "00:05:00". Replace "." with ":" in the "Time To Ready" window code.
* FIXED: [Lua] Ferry mission not allowing friendly bases as destination

* Numerous sim-performance tweaks.

* Includes the v478 version of the DB3000 database.

MAJOR CHANGES
---------------------------
*** Sonobouys are now able to detect surface vessels ***

*** INS/GPS- and laser-guided bombs now have a minimum launch altitude of 2,000ft AGL vs the previous 10,000ft. ***
Weapons that rely on gliding for range (e.g. SDB) retain the 10,000ft minimum launch altitude.
Some other notable exceptions:
• GBU-28/B Deep Throat LGB [BLU-113/B]
• GBU-36/B GAM [Mk84]
• GBU-37/B GAM Deep Throat [BLU-113/B]
• GBU-43/B MOAB [BLU-120/B]
• GBU-57A/B MOP
These weapons were either designed to be dropped from high altitude at high speed for kinetic energy to aid in penetration or have massive warheads that simply make dropping from low altitude impractical. These weapons retain the 10,000ft minimum launch altitude.

We switched to using 7-zip (7z) for the compression, which is far more space-efficient than normal zip. The 7z format is supported by 7-zip (of course), WinRAR and WinZip.

Don't like the new download system at all. It really messed things up.

It worked exactly the same as always had to me.

Download compressed file from GDrive, extract, move content to game directory, overwrite, play.

I didn't even realized the change in compression format since I always use WinRAR.

Also yes, the file only has those three parts.

Thanks.

I haven't had 7z, so it all looks very different to me. It isn't set up as normal. Obviously yours has been set up that way, so there isn't a problem for you. So, while yours is easy, mine is not.

Mine required a download that is unfamiliar, and the file set up is also arranged in a foreign format. In other words, the files aren't displayed as they used to be.

Thanks for letting me know that there are the three elements. That is helpful. For some reason it shoulded a Command.exe file separate than the one that was included in the update.

Since I have changed it back to the way that it was, I will likely just abandon the attempts to install this update until it becomes absolutely necessary. In the meantime, others can have fun with it. But, this update is not EFFICIENT for me.

Thanks again.

Doug

Maybe for future releases when update is uploaded, before zipping it, an upper level directory could be added, so that the result to the user is more like what it was before - one directory with the components of the update inside (users can do this themselves because 7zip asks where you want it and rather than the "Downloads" folder you can add a sub-directory, but that's the part that has Doug frustrated and I'm pretty sure it could be solved up front by Matrix/developers.

I have to admit I'd find that easier myself, as I do my downloads on a Mac and then put it in Dropbox to get it to my W10 Parallels Desktop.

I've located/resolved the issue, but not before much wasted time.

The problem was that 7z was not loaded onto my computer. It may not be loaded on other computers, either. So, I had to go and find it.

There are about 20 different FREE sites where you can go to get the program. I selected one.

Upon loading the ZIP program, which comes with a bunch of other small-print FREE access to stuff that you don't want, if you aren't SUPER careful your computer is suddenly loaded with stuff that you don't want, AND (MORE IMPORTANTLY) some settings for other programs may have been changed. Additionally, you get about three new icons on your screen, again for stuff that you don't want.

The unzipping process was essentially the same, but never gave you confirmation that it usually does that it had actually overwritten anything. At least my FREE version did not. Therefore, I had to try the process again, unzipping everything over to a new folder, and then manually copying those files over to the CMANO programs, and sub-directories (folders for you new folks). Presumably, it was done and it will work.

I would suggest that if a new zip program is required, then Matrix may have been better off providing a version of the zip program with the new file (like it does for the other things that need to be updated from time-to-time to make the game work). That would ensure that all things are always the same, and would eliminate any confusion.

I realize that many likely already have a newer version of the ZIP program, therefore you will have no trouble what-so-ever when installing it. But, for me, I will now spend the better part of a day trying to dump various things that the new ZIP program surreptitiously installed on my computer, while still making sure that everything else still works.

It could have been avoided by including the ZIP file to be used, if necessary. That's my opinion.

Doug

If you have the Matrix version of the game, you can redeem a steam key, install it on steam, and let it manage updates with no effort of your own.

BTW, this is HUGE, that's not just a bugfix, that's basically a new feature:

quote:

* UI ADDED: #12935: Mission Editor strike targets list - You can now move targets up/down by 5 or 10 increments by holding the Ctrl or Shift key while clicking on the up/down buttons.
+
FIXED: Retain mission strike target list order

Up until now, there was no way to set target priority, list order had no impact on the actual strike plan and aircrafts just went for the nearest target on the list. This changes everything.

I'll be damned....your right! I noticed that with airstrikes, they all seemed to concentrate on the closest target. Hope to get some more development on this down the line!

Here's where I get 7-zip, w/o unwanted extras.

https://www.7-zip.org/

Right at the top of the page, get the 64-bit Windows version, unless you're running a 32-bit Windows, or not running Windows.

Go to the Download page on the left side if you don't have Windows.

As far as using it, I use the right-click-->Extract files... as my default when opening files for it.

One thing I noticed, being a Mac user. I run CMANO using Parallels desktop. Normally I do the download using the Mac, and I have 7zip on the Mac, so it upzipped it there. Then transfer it to the emulated W10. The Command.exe was not a working file when I did that. Previously as .zip files that worked fine.

Easy solution - transfer the .7z file to Dropbox, go to W10 and unzip it, then move everything to the correct place in the CMANO directory.

Don't know how many Mac users there are but just though I'd mention this. I don't think it was unique. It was the same already downloaded .7z file both times.

Just a HUGE shoutout to the developers, for continuing to support and update this fantastic software. A great update to a great sim.
Just bought the Israeli and desert storm campaigns to show my support (I already have all the others and base game 🙂)

SO MANY hours of thorough enjoyment, I love to read about modern ships, submarines, aircraft and how they work and their history. How they have actually been employed and when.
And to see it all in a sim like this, in SUCH depth and DETAIL, is just a real treat. Awesome.

Looking forward to additional updates and the eventual incorporation of Tacview 🙂

Thank you for the update! Just a heads up, the SM-2 Block IIIC is missing its CEC capability and has too low of Anti-Air range of 50 NMI, according to Raytheon it should be at least 90 NMI. Sources are linked below

I found a small bug in the new DB. It is found in the Romanian F-16s (Aircraft #4402 & #4403) and the issue is shown in the image below. It happens in the same load-out in both aircraft.
