Magic move task force gives you 20x speed as long as you can find some fast ships you can make it to West Coast , here is an example , Heavy Cover task force from Thailand bombarding San Fran on day 1

That's good to know. I admit I haven't tried this with anything other than xAP xAK invasion convoys. Either way, its impractical or still not possible to move TFs that aren't fast (aka no major ground invasion unless you can fit everything onto destroyers or APDs, etc).

In regards to people getting mad, it's a game. People should be able to play it however they want, just make sure both sides have set up rules and expectations beforehand.

I thought that the magic moves can go 100 hexes. I might have to look it up. RTFM time!

Those TFs can move 20 times their normal speed

Bomb and bombard Adak to reduce supplies plus morale and increase fatigue plus disruption. Then you should be able to attack.

4 Walrus II float planes were listed as ground losses this turn.

Could those be a sign that the BB Revenge went down?

I don't think it would be the CA Devonshire would it?

neither showed in the sunk ship list.

Devonshire can carry 3 + 1 spare

Revenge can carry 1 + 1 spare

so your most likely scenario is Devonshire went down

if you were really lucky, both went down

Hey Jorge thanks for your response. I'm still never sure about how many torpedo hits a ship can take. I'll look back and see if i might have had some previous damage on Devonshire a few turns ago with my bettys.

i can see:
CA Devonshire, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
BB Revenge, Torpedo hits 2

Revenge is still ok, Devonshire sank
the torpedo didn't sink it, it was likely flooding or fire getting out of control. Your opponent was unlucky

it happens, in my game I lost a Yorktown class carrier to 3 bombs, or something like that. Or better to say these bombs triggered a fire that couldn't be extinguished, kept growing until the ship sank

Those ships in port are hurting from those little bombs. You need to watch and see if any are critical hits or whether or not the belt was penetrated for flooding damage. At least you sank some AMcs . . .

Thanks Jorge. I'll have to give that phrase "heavy damage" more attention.

i'm thinking that i don't have to look for those 2 CVs that were damaged but never reported sunk. They both were listed as heavy damage, heavy fires each more than once. i think they are gone.

I think that my opponents have been unlucky many times.

Go back and see if there were carrier type planes listed as either ground damage or ops losses if those carriers were not near an airbase to take their diverted aircraft.

How big is that port at Dutch Harbor? They may not be able to repair the damage in time and you may sink the ships in port.

You are too anxious at Adak. Bomb and bombard for a week before you attack unless you see ships coming. A new, fresh minefield should also help.

Hi Joe, Thanks. I think those CVs groups diverted to Cold Bay and then have gone on to anchorage.

Dutch harbor is a level 3 port. I don't know but it seem inconceivable to me that Oregon and Long Island survived. They were already heavily damaged in the initial battle and only made it to dutch harbor before they had to dock.

i'm pretty bad about reviewing orders and thought for sure my forces at Adak were on defend. I'll give my land based Vals and Kate some really good experience and pound those guys on Adak before i attack again. Thanks

If they could operate aircraft the next day, some of them may have been damaged and unable to fly. Those are the ones that would go down with the ships.

I don't know about the Oregon but the Oklahoma took 53 bomb hits that I counted, many of those appeared to be those little 800 kg ones . . .
Break out the hot dogs and marshmallows and enjoy the bonfire . . .

You won't see diving in the combat report. You see it in the combat where plane x is diving on plane y.

If you hold Adak and it is relatively safe, you can have your AKEs there. Set a way point to the base for refuel and they will also reammo.

Thanks Joe

I've got Adak at a size 7 port plus 11 AKEs. I've got a hundred each zeros, vals and kates and 50 or 60 LR Nells up there for protection. Should be okay. I'll keep bombarding for a while

Man, my opponents are pretty good guys.

i sent the latest turn a few hours ago but i totally spaced on the fact that it was the first of the month.

Later when i was checking i found that my Judy research advanced right there on the last day of the month. Damn!

I quickly sent an email asking if they had worked on it. Luckily neither had yet so they allowed me to update the file and send it again.

That first Judy uses the Aichi - i never built any! i was planning on going to the Judy3 that uses the Mit-32.

I wasted 6 factories on the Rufe when that happened earlier in the game. I just can't believe the timing when the research completes on the last day of the month.

When you see that the research is in blue, then switch the factory.

Well, then when the research states a month or less, then move it along to the next model. Preferably a blonde or a brunette . . .

The Judy 3 has the 500 kg bomb. The Judy 4 actually could not drop its bomb.

I've got pretty good coverage of a lot of areas with my Nells - a lot have been upgraded to the G3M3 - Nice Range on those.

I've been keeping their range to 14 to allow zero escorts in case they run into any CAP traps.

This turn i quietly gave them a little more rope and they made the most of it.

Nice work with the G3M3s. A very nice range which makes them better than Bettys, at least in the game and where there are no fighters. But I think that his convoy route will change.

Thanks Joe. I'll go back to zero coverage range again. But maybe i can try it again later.

i don't know where else to ask this question. I had a JNAF from General Defense that i switched to 5th fleet and moved to parashimuru jima. I switched it back to general defense again. Then i changed the base to general defense. Now i want to move the 11th airfleet Air HQ that is restricted to general defense to parashimuru jima now that it is general defense. But i can't seem to find a way to do it.

JAL - Japan Air Lines will transfer the Air Fleet HQ for you.
