You sank an Aussie minesweeper with an ASW of 4. It is great for short range escort work as well as ASW TFs outside or at his bases. You probably sank a S-boat with working torpedoes. The AVP is a mobile Float Plane and/or seaplane tender for dot bases that you may not notice. It could have Cats reaching out into your back areas to see what you are doing. The sub tenders can also help repairs besides refueling and re-ammo. Very useful ships, especially when the torpedoes work. All four are useful ships and there are only so many of those that he gets. Killing them early when he does not have as many is very good work.

Put LRCAP over his airbases and watch his OP losses go up - especially useful against the AVG. They will also assist in sweeps as well as shooting down any transports flying in or out. This last turn the report is that I shot down 3 AVG fighters but they also had 3 OP losses.

You are welcome. I am learning here as well.

A suggestion though, when bombing airfields at bases like Soerabaja, consider sending some bombers on Ground Attack missions. They may not do much actual damage but they will increase supply usage as well as increase fatigue and disablements.

In China, if he has no airbases for CAP purposes, divide up your light bombers and have each one bomb a separate Chinese Army stack. If nothing else, increase the supply draw. Try to herd his units into the open, a long distance from his supply sources to decrease the amount of supplies that they do get as well as increase wastage. After taking Chungking and his other reinforcement base, then kill the Chinese units. I know that you will kill some before taking those bases and the enemy might suicide his units as well, but if they are not destroyed then they won't come back and help garrison Chungking. If you can block the rail and grey road from Rangoon to Lashio, you will cut the Burma Road and no more free 500 units of Chinese supply per turn. In the meantime, bomb the airbase at the receiving end to try and destroy as many supplies as is possible. Also, try LRCAP at the bases in China where they might be airmailing supplies in, to destroy transports.

LRCAP any bases that his heavies fly from, if you can. I wonder how helpful a Glen flying from a sub would be . . .

I’ve currently got Oscars flying CAP at Dili and Nicks at Korpang in my game.
Oscars aren’t getting close to the B17s even with 70+ rates pilots but Nicks are shooting down at least one a day.
I’m spending PP to change a few more light bomber groups to Nicks so I can get more Nicks on the front line and more FB training groups.
The allies are only going to get more 4E bombers...

You are doing fine at Singapore, it is still before it really fell. You might want to reconsider invading bases with infrastructure that you want to keep since a shock attack seems to damage it more.

His cousin Ellie Mae is so much better looking . . .

But wouldn't Don Knotts be a better choice? He could be saying "Why can't I have just one bullet!?"

If you raise your fighters to 5000 feet to gain air skill, then they won't get as much fatigue if that gets to be a problem. Kates can train at any altitude for torpedoes but bombing at 1000 for Low Nav. Float Planes could also train ASW for the Jakes which would have a range of 5. You can also train them on low Nav. Regular fighter pilots can go to the A6M2-Rufe, they don't need special training. Set the Range to 0 on units at 100% training to keep their fatigue low.

thanks. not much fatigue yet. range at zero everywhere. that's good about the rufe training. i'll adjust. is training asw worth it vs low nav? i keep thinking that float planes finding them is a good deterent and maybe i'll have enough army planes on asw later to bomb them. i'm not sure.........of anything really.

Consider the amount of fuel all the smaller xAK and xAKL use compared to your industry and fleet demands for fuel.
I won’t tell you what to do, but you don’t need to bring all resources back to Japan, especially from far flung places.

Do you mean Ansyu-C to PB?
Also, consider some Tosu or Kiso to ACM and/or AMc rather than all to PB. They aren’t the most exciting classes but they have their uses.

Just to get you thinking, all my Ehime are AD, all my Daigen are AG, all my Miyati are AGP. They are disbanded in various ports in those roles to save fuel.
All my Kasu, Gozan and Toho are in mothballs to save on fuel use.

You have extra float plane units on some of your cruisers. Take them off, resize them to 24 and train them. They are good for ASW even with small bombs. They find them and then, in shallow water, your ASW TFs can sink them. Even the slow SCs at 10 knots are good for this early on. Some of your light cruisers have FPs on them as well as AMCs. When you are through raiding with them, you can pull the Float Planes off as well and resize them.

British, Dutch, and S-boats have good torpedoes now, the other American ones will slowly improve. You need to get your ASW as effective as you can to minimize this. Until you get your better depth charges, you Model 95 are only good in shallow water. So set up your convoys for shallow water runs as much as is possible through air ASW search. Naval search for the shorter ranged FPs but Jakes have a range of 10 which would be 5 in ASW. The idea is for the air units to detect them and possibly damage them. By detecting them, they are not as effective and surface ASW TFs can then prosecute them. Kates are good as well by they have better uses.

Until Army bombers are released for ASW duty, the naval air will have to do. The Army bombers will be released when enemy CAP is too strong. Until the Peggy (T) comes in, the Army bombers might as well do something when they have a gap from bombing Allied troops until they can carry torpedoes.

If you leave a dot base in enemy hands, a severely damaged sub might try to make that port to dewater. The best and easiest way to sink a sub is while it is in port.

Do you mean places like Nauru and Ocean is. I just pick up resources with the transports returning to the HI from delivering troops to south pacific

Do you mean Ansyu-C to PB?
Yes you are right i missed that.

Also, consider some Tosu or Kiso to ACM and/or AMc rather than all to PB. They aren’t the most exciting classes but they have their uses.

I was going to see how it goes. before i would always make all tosu ACM but i don't know now. I'll reconsider.

Just to get you thinking, all my Ehime are AD, all my Daigen are AG, all my Miyati are AGP. They are disbanded in various ports in those roles to save fuel.

I like your idea about Ehime i will copy. Daigen too. Miyati i'm not sure of AGP need.

All my Kasu, Gozan and Toho are in mothballs to save on fuel use.

i'll park Gozan after cleaning up northern japan resources. i kind of like using Kasu local and Toho in the central pacific.

thanks for the ideas

I would make the To'su to CMcs first for the free mines. Use these to maximize minefields, lay only one new minefield per day so it will be a separate one, and also lay minefields at way points for your convoys. You can also lay minefields along your shallow water convoy routes to get subs. If you convert to CMc, lay the minefield, then convert to something else then immediately reconvert to CMc, you will then get more free mines. As long as you are not otherwise using the ship . . .

The Kiso all go to ACM to support the larger minefields.

No free mines with the ACMs.

The things with the To'su CMcs is that they do not want to drop the mines at their home base (at least for me) AND you have to set them to no refuel otherwise they will rearm. It will take awhile but you can have minefields at every island base along the path from Formosa to Kagoshima by way of Okinawa an family. Run the resource cargo TFs along that route on coastal and the subs have a chance of clearing a mine or two. Combine that with the float plane naval search and ASW, and the escorted convoys have a good chance of coming through with no damage. Include a few SC ASW TFs on coastal so they don't go into deep water and any sub coming into the shallows can be in trouble.

Bomb the airfield and the port with Sallys.

Bataan looked good, keep bombarding and bombing.

All units are listed in the attack even if only some of them are involved.

My Training Currently looks like this:

04x81 Claude Swp 1,000ft
03x81 Val Naval 10,000ft
03x81 Kate Naval 1,000ft
20x20 Flot Serch 1,000ft
01x36 Flot Sweep 1,000ft

02x36 Nate CAP 1,000ft
03x42 Nate Sweep 1,000ft
03x12 Nate Grd 100ft
09x12 Ida Naval 100ft

i train elsewhere when i can

You need BETTY training ASAP, unless you want to put guys from KATEs there (with exp hit). Train Search for some BABS, there are lots of large groups, no reason to waste them for Recon only (speaking of which, training recon for low skill is also good). And some ground bomber training would be useful. Green pilots really don't get skill in live bombing as fast, as you would thought.
