You don’t see the Nate/Tojo combo every day.

You don't see P-39 fighter sweeps every day either, there is a good reason why.

It was a test to check CAP, and the p-39 has our deepest pool by far. But yes, point still stands haha

P-39s are great on defence, especially against bombers.

In Richmond, VA, restaurants have started closing for quarantine. Wishing everyone the best of health.

On the plus side, mandatory work from home means... the coming week should be rife with AAR updates!

Thanks, Bif!

It's been an interesting experience to say the least. Can't say I enjoy mandatory work from home (corporate, not state, requirement). It's hard to 'turn off' and stop responding to emails, calls, requests, etc.

Think my wife and I have struck a pretty good balance of spending time and avoiding each other. How have others been dealing with that? I'd be curious to get both retired and still working perspectives.

For us, the biggest challenge has been the complete lack of sports. Playing, not watching. Under normal circumstances, I have 1-2 outdoor & 4-5 indoor soccer games a week. Haven't been able to do that whole "jogging" thing yet. Does the "19" in COVID's name refer to the amount of weight you gain from social distancing?

Regarding the game, things go well. Our opponent tried another KB-covered BB Bombardment of Sydney, only to find a near empty port and wallaby-infested runways. The turn after, we noted his forces split: some went back to the KB sitting off Lord Howe, while the rest progressed north closer to the coast of Brisbane. We moved two squadrons of the old Vindicators up and into position. The next turn they dropped several thousand pounds of explosives into a nice CA (don't have the combat report handy). No airframe losses.

The more significant fight has been over northern Burma. As of July 28, 1942, The Japanese are still putting planes in the air, but not getting the desired results:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morning Air attack on Shwebo , at 59,45

(10 plane(s) diverted to support CAP in hex.)
0 plane(s) not yet engaged, 7 being recalled, 0 out of immediate contact.
Group patrol altitude is 20000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 20000.
Time for all group planes to reach interception is 1 minutes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morning Air attack on Mandalay , at 59,46

Weather in hex: Thunderstorms

(11 plane(s) diverted to support CAP in hex.)
0 plane(s) not yet engaged, 11 being recalled, 0 out of immediate contact.
Group patrol altitude is 20000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 20000.
Time for all group planes to reach interception is 1 minutes
15th Ku S-1 /B with A6M2 Zero (0 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling)
(9 plane(s) diverted to support CAP in hex.)
0 plane(s) not yet engaged, 9 being recalled, 0 out of immediate contact.

Our opponent still has naval supremacy, and uses it to make these kind of milk runs:

What's interesting is how far north he has garrisoned serious IJA forces:

Raid spotted at 7 NM, estimated altitude 1,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 2 minutes

Allied aircraft
Blenheim IV x 13

He's also got this stick up in the mountains at Tsuyung in China:

5th Division
56th Division
18th Division
23rd Ind. Engineer Regiment
18th Medium Field Artillery Regiment
3rd Mortar Battalion
25th Army
3rd Ind. Mountain Gun Regiment
5th Mortar Battalion
3rd Medium Field Artillery Regiment
1st RF Gun Battalion
14th Ind.Art.Mortar Battalion

They're effectively stopped by 1,400 AV behind Lvl 3 forts. He's been making no progress with attack. I think we have a big opportunity to trap them and if we're lucky the IGD in the Burmese jungle.

NY State is ground zero right now so we all will be worried about him. In regards to your earlier comment on your views about how people are coping, I am retired and have been self-isolating for years so nice to know I now have company. Actually I drive shut-ins several times a week to appointments and shopping and other errands they need done. I have been doing that for several years now but I can't visit the local nursing homes any longer and my parents who live in MI are locked in their assisted living facility. Strange and difficult times for many and truly tragic times for some.

thx for sharing.

it looks like the BTS AAR Fins owns is getting some attention. That game had a spike of activity, and if I had to guess I'd say we are both less than pleased with how it's going.

Guch is back! So is the Japanese airforce over Burma. He swats 12 Hurricanes out of the sky over Mandalay. In return, our 4Es set fire to 2 xAPs and 2 xAKs he had sitting in port at Milne.

Lord Howe is ripe for invasion as soon as we know the KB is going. He is likely trying to bait us into a move there. Unfortunately, he is suffering a bit from overextension. Baker Island should have fallen already if we had better positioned ourselves. As it is, that is likely 2 weeks away.

We are starting to heavily damage some I-boats around Auckland. Hopefully some of them founder on the way back.

Roughly what date was this in the game?

VAC and I have kind of taken turns in chunks rather than an either/or...I think I've done the last 5 or so
