Australia have scored an upset 2-1 win over the United States at the Premier12 baseball tournament in Tokyo.

The Americans had a 9-0 record over Australia at World Cup and Olympic tournaments.

But was that a real American representative team, or a bunch of minor league and/or college players?

This from the HSBC re the tournament:

2019
Team USA is competing in the 12-team 2019 WBSC Premier12 Tournament, which is being held from November 2 to 17, 2019. Two quota spots will be allocated from the Tournament, of the spots for six baseball teams at the 2020 Olympic Games, with the top finisher from the Americas territory (either Mexico or the US) earning one spot.[6] Team USA does not include players who are on their teams' 40-man MLB rosters, but does include former First Round MLB draft picks Jo Adell, Tanner Houck, and Brent Rooker (2017 MLB draft), Alec Bohm and Xavier Edwards (2018 MLB draft), and Andrew Vaughn (2019 MLB draft).[7][8]

So, a bunch of minor leaguers and / or college players.
