For those of us who know nothing about tacview and very little about computers there's a serious shortage of assistance as to how to use tacview. The basics are obvious - enter the path into the options menu slot - but note that tacview offers 2 execs and there's no guidance I've found as to which we should use. If I select the x64 exec then it works, if I select the 'tacview' exec then I end up with a steam installation dialogue (even though I'm not playing the steam version of CMO and didn't buy or download the steam version of tacview) and then it doesn't work after that.

So I end up using the x64 path and what I get looks like the pic below.

But this looks nothing like the tacview I've seen being used in user videos. Where are the vector lines? The altitude markers etc. How do I get the datablocks/labels to show in tacview? At present I get a label only for the selected object. How do I change that? No help anywhere I can see in the manual. I can't see anyway of changing the tacview options in game. But the default options do not look like they look in user videos etc. I can't even roam around in the tacview screen (W,A,S,D doesn't function), but have to move around by selecting objects only. Is this how it is??? Why is there no help setting it up? This was an expensive add-on.

I ran the actual TACVIEW app prior to running it in CMO and selected all those. Then once I ran it in CMO they were all there.

Thanks
Andy

You turn all of those on/off in the Tacview main window using the buttons along the bottom of the screen.

Hi,

In the most recent update we deliberately set the lift-vector, flight vector & height lines to be hidden so as to unclutter the 3D window (and also to make the view more "life like"). If it's something you will need, we can add an option to enable them.

Thanks!

Thanks. That would explain why things are better now I've switched to a steam install - which isn't, at the moment, on the latest update. An option to enable them would be great. But does that mean I can't enable them in the tacview program, as suggested above (by Algrant and Panzerldr - thanks both!) Certainly, now I'm using a steam install I can see all the vectors etc. But I still can't roam around. And selecting the free-view button in the actual tacview app doesn't seem to enable any kind of free view in game. Should I be able to move around in the 3d screen (using arrows or wasd) or is the view always tethered? Thanks.

Yes, please add that option. I'm used to Tacview looking at .acmi and .vhs files from flight sim contexts and I find not having those display elements disorienting ;)

I decided to take advantage of the Tacview holiday sale....but big issue is I cant get game options window to open on the non steam version of the game, I was able to get Tacview to work on steam version but have all my scenarios on the non steam version. I prefer to use the non steam version. I guess my issue is more with Game Options than with Tacview anyone else experience the inability to open game options?

Hi,

IIRC this was an issue that was fixed with the current public beta (https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4732689), can you give it a try ?

Still not working. They are thinking of releasing a patch to fix it?

Please help us understand your problem better. "Still not working" is not telling us anything about your specific issue. Please provide as much detail on your problem as possible. Thank you.
