I too held off a game waiting for this patch. I used the time to make a new unit mod. So I still had fun...

There are always bugs. It takes a lot longer to get an app completely bug free. Look as MS Windows 10... 4 years and counting!

MS gives up squashing bugs and renames the release MS Windows 11 …… Then the wack a mole starts all over again ….

Matrix, I get that you are busy and have QA procedures and all of that, but for the love of God, get this patch out already, or I will murder you.

I'd quite appreciate the path out by Friday, as usually weekend is when there is the most free time (starting Friday evening), and I've some PBEM games to start afresh in standby due to the patch looming ahead!

After their excuse of time needed for QA all I can say is the patch had better not come out with any introduced bugs.

Is it really going to be anytime soon?

I mean I have been waiting for this patch for near on 2 weeks now, before starting a new game.

I am tempted to just begin a new game at 1.00.03.

We keep getting ETA's that are never met.

The only thing that is keeping me from just going ahead and starting a new game is the tech bug. Tech is seriously broken right now. And, yeah, it's broken for everyone so this doesn't give either side an edge, but still.

Well the first bit of tech is not really broken - to get '40 tech in early '40 (and then having to upgrade troops) is okay for me.
The problem is for the subsequent years.

But I still remain of the case that most of the techs are redundant. Like no Allied power really has an interest in Breakthrough (and tbh Heavy Armour is way superior on the longer run, the extra punch vs 1 more action point that is fuel limited - at least for Axis), Fighter-Bombers are not used, etc etc. And tech bonuses in general are too small.

The tech bonuses add up over a while. It's a gradual thing. I think it is okay as is.

Both Italy and Germany have reasons to tech up breakthrough, the allies admittedly can give it a pass. Breakthrough is good in the early years, that extra movement helps. Heavy armor only really comes into play at a later date. I think it is perfectly reasonable for the Germans to build a half dozen or so mech as breakthrough and then switch over to heavy armor for the rest of the game.

As for Italy, it starts with both a mech and armor as breakthrough and I personally build no more mech for them and stick with just those two. Italy can't really afford to buy a lot of expensive and oil hungry units.

Fighter bombers are weak tech and I personally disband all the minor axis fighter bombers and feed the replacements into their ground units. Let the luftwaffe fight the air war with some Italian help.

What fighter bombers need to make them a worthwhile build is some kind of range bonus. Maybe not as much escort fighters, but something. Late war allied fighter bombers had better range than interceptors. Then it would worth it to maybe build a handful of them as self escorting deep strike bombers. Right now they are a jack of all trades with no clear role.

well dont complain about that or else we might not get an ETA, Paradox is big on that, and it sorta blows, but you never know when the patches/games are gonna be coming out so...

Jack of 0 trades from my perspective.
Worse than fighters, and for only 1 added tactical point.

Breakthrough armour should gain more OP points over time imo and not stick to 1.

Adding more operational points to breakthrough as it techs up is a neat idea. Although I wouldn't want to go too crazy with that.

Letting them get up to, say, 12 movement would make them an interesting build even late game for the allies.

That's something I am kinda planning in fact - as I've tinkered a bit with the editor and the like. My major brake is that rarely modded maps end up to be used for PBEM and would need ulterior testing for balancing.

I just don't get FBs in this game. The rocket firing P47s and Typhoons were morale and effectiveness killers by late 43 and on for the rest of the war.

I know their tank killing numbers were over inflated but what they did to the logistical train and thin skinned vehicles was terrifying for the ground troops.

The Germans had a nickname for them....what was it? "Jawobs"? Something like that!

I remembered, "Jabos" like in Jabberwocky.
