Australian F/A-18Bs down to one (1) JASSM and one (1) AGM-154C strike per aircraft. AMMRAM load outs down to two (2) "Standard CAP" flights per aircraft. eight (8) load outs for "Heavy CAP" Much more realistic for a deployment.

Load outs for P-8As, F-35As and F-22s now more in keeping with a deployed detachment. Meaning you're going to run low on missiles!

F-35 & F-22 AAW = one load out per aircraft deployed (remember some are on maintenance so 12 load outs total for each type).
ASuW (ATA Slammers) now one per P-8A aircraft (eight total).
ASW, this is better one load out per torpedo type/per aircraft deployed. So here you shouldn't run out of ASW load outs. I figure we have to be stockpiling something at Subic Bay!

Play test version 8.0 01/02/2020 (Happy New Year!) Link is now below in thread...

Most of the above has been addressed and added a few surprises from the PRC side. Never set up an ASW Strike mission before, have to see how this works!

Play test Version 6.0 is now attached in the thread below

i am back at this.... and am pleased there is another version to test as i encountered a problem with the scenario running very poorly....
after reading andrewsj's comments.. i quite agree with them... especially tie points on balance and weapons free... which totally took me by surprise.. i had to start over and turn it off.... also csg 9 had no ready romeo seahawks for a screen seems unlikely.. my naval friends tell me they dont go anywhere without them...

well im going to try your latest version now ....

The CSG 9 escorts MH-60R's are set to an ASW Mission, but left the Roosevelt's MH-60R's for the player to load out as they see fit.

So on the PGMs, yes there were WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY to many of them, but you have to admit, it was fun using them to blow everything up!

BTW, the reason the USN was accidentally set to Opportunity Targets = "Optimistic" (for 3.0) was when I was trying to reset the PLAN/PRC I did it to the USN instead. Bottom line, I made a last minute change and reset the wrong side, that happens when your working late into the night!

okidokie.... i will admit this is fun.... red is getting their ass kicked and i havent started the strike missions yet....

i do have a questions about random spawning of submarines.... i can see doing that in a breakout scenario and such.. or in their mission area... other wise it is kind of odd as submarines usually have specific mission/patrol objectives... especially diesel electric subs because they are slow and if they have to go very far they have to go periscope to do it...
for me its not a big issue playing because i do it in editor mode....

Great Minds! I just tweaked this this morning before coming here to make the Diesel Sub Missions/teleporting more relevant (and added some PLAN units). Was thinking along those lines for the nukes, but also figure is someone doesn't like the positioning of the nuke boats they can just reload for a better starting set up. Remember there is still a war going on near Taiwan and Korea, and these units may be being tasked from other missions. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it (maybe)...

I also moved the AWACS & Tankers to the Philippines, just didn't make sense to redeploy them, when they likely would have been deployed.

Also added some PLAN units and a Det of B-2A Spirits to Anderson (without more PGM loadouts).

gosnold, I'm sorry but I haven't got an explanation for that error, it loads, and just loaded, fine for me? This might be one for Tech Support?

BUT, below is the scenario with the latest changes as of this morning (Play test version 6.0).

So since this morning's post, in my play testing, I realized with the loss of he USS Monsoor the PRC H-6 ASuW mission box (computer side) did make any sense anymore so tweaked it a bit to be more of a threat to both CSG 9 and LCS 10.

whata guy.... i will check this out......

personally i believe that CSG 9 starts to close to its mission objective area as it disadvantages them starting with a more compressed battle space in the south.... they can easily carry on high tempo air ops at 500 plus nm's without tanker assets... while being at less risk of discovery and offensive strikes.... i also believe they should have some abmd's as the chinese have a lot of ballistic anti ship missiles.... just my thoughts....

Left the Triumph Victory level at 15,000 for now, but without the "Battlestar Galactica" level of PGMs I might need to tweak that down a tad.

I believe you probably should… I haven’t had a chance yet to use all the ordinance but I suspect it is totally overwhelming force ..... I can’t wait to unload The B1s full of LARSM missiles on the Chinese carrier force .......
I sure wouldn’t mind a few Legacy fighters in the Philippines .....

There is something odd happening with the satellites blinking on and off all over the map .... also contact you their lines crisscrossing over the screen… I suspect it is the intercept lines of the satellites but I don’t know for sure.... also another thing is that in tact view is the Americans show up as red and the Chinese is blue… Which opfor never switches in other scenarios I play with tacview on....

Another odd thing is one of my F 35’s is firing missiles at anything that is targetable regardless of the range ..... I have never had that happen before… I’m going to go play some more and check these things out .....

Play test version 8.0 01/02/2020 (Happy New Year!) Link is now below in thread...

So ran into a few issues with Play Test 6.0...

1. When too far in reducing support aircraft and AMMRAMS in the Philippines. Had the J-20s pull a Tom Clancy on me and take out two E-3Gs at the beginning of the scenario leaving me largely blind.
2. Being blind the F-35As fired off a huge number of AMMRAMs at the J-15s
3. Really began to think there needs to be more air support over the Philippines when The PLAAF started picking off stuff unmolested. Also figured a Patriot Battalion would probably be deployed near Subic/Manila.

No granted that in both play test runs I started last night the Liaoning CVBG teleported just off Scarborough Reef so the F-22As and F-35As were in action right away. So while they burned through their AMMRAMs they also largely decimated the J-15s from the CVBG as well.

Soooooo, Changes for 7.0...

1. Added two new airbases, Puerto Princesa Air Base, and Ninoy Aquino Intl Aprt
2. Southern Philippines RAAF forces are bolstered by (and they have the Southern Philippines AOR)...
A. An RAAF F-35a det and EA-18G Det closer to the action based at Puerto Princesa AB.
B. An E-737 Wedgetails AEW Det
C. KC-30 (737) Tanker det of their own (USAF looses 4 KC-135's that were supporting the RAAF)
d. Radar and some MPSAMs near Puerto Princesa
3. Added an Oregon ANG F-15C TFS (123rd) at Ninoy Aquino Intl Arpt
4. Added A Patriot SAM Battalion near Subic Bay.
5. Tweak AMMRAMs but just a tad at most bases. I was thinking about trying to add bunkers during the scenario to simulate resupply (Lua Script?) but I might try that for the next scenario, this one is complicated enough right now!
6. Triumph is lower to 9,000 VPs, we'll see how that works with a lower number of PGMs.

I did not add more PGMs and looked at the Australian purchases of JASSMs and ADM-158s and the numbers in the scenario are consistent with them.

I have noted that happening at certain zoom ins and also, more speciffically, it seems to also have to do with the Zoom in level and speed of the game combined.

Don't use Tacview, so don't know.

I noticed that happening when the Liaoning CVBG teleported near the Scarborough Shoals. My F-35s were shooting at the J-15s and Z-9s like mad.

quote:

Once again, Great Minds. I was thinking the same last night and Added two airfields this morning. One has more Australian RAAF units, and a second with an Oregon ANG F-15C Squadron. Might add an F-16D Squadron later but lets see how the new aircraft work out. I assume it is a 24 aircraft squadron and gave them 2 load outs per aircraft with six (6) on maintenance. One can argue that most Philippine bases are immune from strikes, but wanted to lead full squadrons in case I wanted to tweak numbers later. Always easier to remove aircraft than add them.

quote:

but I suspect it is totally overwhelming force ..... I can’t wait to unload The B1s full of LARSM missiles on the Chinese carrier force

Hope not I really slashed the JASSM AGM-154/158 series in the magazines and as far as LRASMs you only have two B-1B aircraft loadouts. So I hope it doesn't look like Battlestar Galactia anymore!

I keep saying that I'm not going to create big scenarios anymore and then I keep on doing it! Play testing this one is exhausting!

Well I believe I am playing version six and I really like this scenario a lot… Although I couldn’t wait on some of the ready times on the aircraft so I moved a number of them up especially on the carrier group.... some of the air to air stuff… And I ready for six hours a group of strikers ....

I’m seven hours and the scenario and I can’t say I’ve been kicking Chinese aircraft ass .... I don’t send any of my aaw fighters out in groups… I send them out single way as they perform better… If they’re attacked and they have separation usually only one goes defensive and the other can still prosecute .....I have been going with two pairs of hunters... composed of an F 35 and an F 22 ....
i have been very successful doing this and using cooperative engagement which is working really well .... i’ve destroyed 42 Chinese aircraft six or eight of which are mighty dragons .... losing no US aircraft only 2 Philippine Falcons have been destroyed… They never had a chance so I’m holding them back ....
I’ve been doing a lot of by a isrt around the Chinese reefs and I’ve located a lot of their assets to be targeted.....
My strikers are ready now on the carrier and the Australians are ready to go after i do sead/dead missions with my carrier aircraft....

The tankers have been a real benefit ... I love tankers they are the queens of air battle.....

I’m very interested to try version seven… And I think it’s really interesting the upper grades you’re talking about ..... although I’m totally destroying the Chinese I already have for 5000 points and I haven’t started my strike missions yet ....

The Chinese are very disadvantaged that they can’t locate my carrier group… so far... as I’ve destroyed so many of their patrol aircraft in their tankers that they cannot sustain themselves in the south.... And I think you should consider putting Chinese submarines as a picket across the whole southern front.. it is my understanding that they have a bunch of them......

Once again i know its a lot of work... However I think this is going to be a really great scenario,, I am enjoying it very much ..... i’m a terrible tester and I am so slow it takes me a couple of days to play seven hours of game time ....

I’ll get back to you later and I hope you have a wonderful new year .....

So you type what I'm working on! It's like the Matrix Mind Meld!

1. I've been doing some research and the PLAAF had 5 A-50s, one crashed and burned (with 40 aboard, many tech support for their indigenous AEW aircraft program). Soooooooo am giving the PRC player four (4) A-50s with two ideas, one this is now their maximum effort and if they survived the other battles they would be committed here (with the remaining J-20s as well which is why so many of them present) and any further AEW program would likely mimic the A-50 so if any more aircraft were developed they likely would resemble the A-50 in capabilities. Set the support mission so the PRC fighters shouldn't be nearly as blind.

2. Added a few (?) PLAN subs to the south. This is for me to know and players to find out.

3. Added a few Y-8Q Cub MPA to give U.S. Nuclear Subs some pause when away from the CVBG.

So I'm going to call this Play Test 8.0, and I'm pretty sure we're nearing the end here! Been play testing and tweaking for almost a month!!!!

Play test 9.0 is a few posts below...

So a few tweaks I made tonight not reflected in the Version above (8.0)

1. Found one the Luzon AAW Prosecution Reference Points was highlighted with the Teleport RPs which are turned on for easy deletion. I turned it off.
2. Readied the MQ-8B's on the LCS.
3. Home ported the LCS at Subic Bay Container Terminal.
4. Provided two (2) full load outs for the LCS in the ammo bunker at Subic Bay Container Terminal. I ran out of SAMs and had to run under AAW, this way she can be reloaded.
5. Tweaked the proficiency for every unit in the scenario. Not sure it matters for fix Facilities but tweaked them down to Novice (Cadet for things like control towers), but really looked closely at at every combat unit's proficiency! Major tweaks there.
6. For some reason, the Side Land Attack Doctrine, was locked on Weapons Free, and I made it user select able.
7. Adjusted the fuel/airborne times for some of the PRC airborne units reflecting longer on station times at the beginning of the scenario. Thus they should land/recycle missions on a more realistic time frame (I.e. not everyone is topped off!) Wanted to tweak HMAS Rankin's fuel but I guess we can only do that for aircraft.
8. Loaded out the ANG F-15Cs and launched two on the Luzon AAW mission. The PLAAF J-20s were just too strong and savaged the E-3G over the Philippines with just the Philippine fighters (and their short range sidewinders). So the Allies needed a stronger CAP from the beginning of the scenario.

Yes but this file (9.0) takes care of the one Luzon AAW Prosecution Zone RP that was accidentally highlighted and includes the changes in the post above. Most of those tweaks were minor tweaks.

I'm calling a moratorium on changes for 10.0

i like this version much better... red is far more active...

i have noticed that some red aircraft missions are on station at 2-300 ft...

the red missile batteries at mischief reef are firing at targets beyond their range.. they have wasted many sams in a short period of time... i believe their wra should be adjusted...

Will look into, but sure they weren't evading?

Probably all of the reef/island SAM sites, will adjust.

Thanks!
