Hi All, and Happy New year!
There are good things coming our community's way - and among them are this little gem right now.
I am not affiliated with this game, nor certainly not being paid - but I discovered this little gem and wanted to share.

It's called Atlantic Fleet on Amazon, and it covers the entire 2nd WW on the Atlantic much as the original Great Naval Battles: North Atlantic did (I'm sure you guys remember that).

The real reason I am posting this is because I downloaded it for my old Kindle Fire HD from Amazon for a whopping $4.99
I spent about 90 minutes playing one tutorial - The Battle of the river Platte - as the British facing the Graff Spee.... well I lost... but no matter.
The game is incredible for a tablet sim, or any other modern naval combat sim.
After loosing Heavy Cruiser Exeter, I spent the next hour with two British light cruisers chasing shell splash's for an hour (as the old naval books tell you to - to throw off aim) before dis-engaging.

Just that much of 90 minutes of 1939 naval combat made me fall in love with this game....and I played it on a Kindle Fire from 2012, with High Definition graphics!

If you are like me, wanting a fun game between game turns, that is actually satisfying - check this out...

B

Big B,

Thanks,

Coming from you that is a very high endorsement.

Funny, I had to look up Sincock because I was not sure that was a real name.

That looks good.

I sometimes do a battle of World of Tanks or World of Warships while the AE turn is running. Those are free-to-play (can pay some money for premium stuff, but not necessary).

Cheers,
CB

Hi all who are interested,
I've played quite a few battles now, and wanted to say the following.

It's all (surface combat - not submarine warfare, or air attack) about learning to gauge gunnery with wind effects.

As a boy some 50-60 years ago I loved the simple game Battleship, and later on wished someone would make a more sophisticated Battleship game. Well, this is it.

After playing a lot, I have learned to read (predict) gunnery and this is where this game shines. It teaches you to look up your gunnery record of range and elevation vs previous shell impact area on the map plot - to predict fall of salvos vs wind direction and wind strength.
I haven't gotten into the submarine warfare game yet.

But if you want a very pretty game of 'Battleship' ( BB's down to TB's, historical battles - or design your own) this is for you...it is for me anyway.

Don't bother much with SW/ASW, it is the weak point of the game due to turn based torpedo mechanics. Apparently the best ASW is to torpedo the sub while it is still in periscope depth. Otherwise the sub will instantly kill your ASW ship if it comes too close.

On the other hand, surface combat is beautiful

As soon as I saw the font I wondered if this was the Cold Waters dev, and it was!

Fortunately my computer is pretty speedy and I can get through a WITP turn pretty quickly now (especially if I hit escape to skip some of the planning message popups.
